Social isolation and loneliness of female university students during the COVID-19 pandemic
Gardianova, Tereza ; Richter, Eva (advisor) ; Skovajsa, Marek (referee)
of Diploma Thesis Abstract: The master thesis deals with the loneliness of university students (focused on women) during the pandemic of the COVID-19 disease. The work focuses on the identification of risk and protective factors of loneliness. It also examines coping strategies and compares their use between lonely and non-lonely students. The qualitative study identified risk factors associated with the pandemic (disruption of routine and everyday life, absence of university environment and reduction of social network and social contacts) and general risk/protective factors (social, personal, family environment, physical activity and nature). Coping strategies for university students are prevailed active, problem-oriented strategies. However, emotional strategies also appear during crisis situations. Passive coping strategies predominate among long-term lonely students. The main difference between lonely and non-lonely students was connected with the perception of loneliness. Non-Lonely students took loneliness as a means of self- development and personal growth. Based on the findings, a typology of loneliness was created.
Local food: attitudes and behaviours of Czech consumers
Pešková, Veronika ; Zvěřinová, Iva (advisor) ; Richter, Eva (referee)
(in English): The diploma thesis deals with the issue of local foods and analyses factors influencing the purchasing behavior of Czech consumers. The theoretical part focuses on the problems related to the definition of local food, relying on the three domains of proximity taxonomy as proposed by Eriksen (2013). It further examines the reasons of increased interest in local production, which include anti-globalization trends, environmental issues and other value changes in society. Significant foreign and Czech research of local production and Czech consumer behavior is presented. At the end of the theoretical part, selected theories suitable for explaining the purchasing behavior of local foods as well giving insight into the theoretical foundation and research of this thesis are described. This is primarily the Alphabet Theory (Zepeda & Deal, 2009), which is based on earlier theories of Value-Belief-Norm Theory (Stern et al., 1999) and Attitude-Behavior-Context Theory (Guagnano et al., 1995). The empirical part builds on the theoretical basis and provides an analysis of the Czech consumer based on qualitative semi-structured interviews as well as a quantitative survey representative of Czech population aged 18 to 65 years in terms of selected sociodemographic characteristics. They give insight...

The relationship of attitudes toward climate change and attitudes toward climate policies
Kamenický, Jakub ; Richter, Eva (advisor) ; Sládek, Jan (referee)
This work aims to examine the relationship between attitude towards climate change and attitude towards measures addressing climate change. I do this by synthesizing academic work examining the relationship in various contexts. The relationship between attitude towards climate change and attitude towards measures addressing climate change is positive in a diverse set of contexts. On the other hand, the relationship is also influenced by variables such as experience with impacts of climate change, access to information, age, education, political beliefs or the degree of contentiousness of the particular measure addressing climate change. Furthemore, results indicate that relatively high awareness of climate change is associated with greater support for even unpopular climate measures, as well as with greater support for environmentally non- invasive measures. Key words: Attitude towards climate change, measures addressing climate change, climate policies, mitigation of climate change, adaptation to climate change
Trends in Traditional Czech Cuisine
Janíčková, Klára ; Vinopal, Jiří (advisor) ; Richter, Eva (referee)
(english) Just like the whole society is going through modernization, culture and tradition is experiencing the very same modernization and it is being changed. Every culture contains food, it is a component of everyday life for all people. Food satisfies needs, it develops creativity, but it is as well part of socialization and interpersonal communication. The whole process of food purchase, food preparation and food consumption is interwoven by values and norms, learned stereotypes and social pressures. Through content analysis of recipes of traditional dishes in culinary magazines printed for the Czech public, this bachelor's thesis reveals changes in consumer preferences due to the modernization of society, eating habits and the Czech gastronomic scene. These recipes are compared to the traditional version from author Marie Janků-Sandtnerová. The content analysis showed that modern recipes are rich in ingredients and there are as well changes in terms of health and nutritional benefits. Key words: tradition; modernization; food; traditional kitchen; eating habits; eating trends; gastronomy

Synthetic medium deepfake: blurring border between reality and fiction
Šmíd, Kristián ; Mlynář, Jakub (advisor) ; Richter, Eva (referee)
There is a lot of new amazing technological things which make our life much easier, which, at the same time, makes it harder for us to see the new things that make our living in this world more complicated. Synthetic medium deepfake gives you a power to manipulate reality in a way that a consumer of the medium will not recognize it was manipulated. To the world where we are used to see edited reality to the point where it often becomes the reality for us, this new medium brings another tool, much more powerful than any other existing tool, to make our perceived border between the reality and fiction even harder to see. Through the combination of synthesis of scientific literature focusing on media and its role in creating our ideas about reality, technical description of how the deepfake technology works and introducing empirical evidence of its usage, the goal of this paper is to describe the way, how this technology is shaping our perception of the reality. In conclusion, this paper finds deepfake medium approachable to big companies as well as to an individual, with a power to completely and realistically change an identity of a person not only in a recorded video but in a live video call, too. Thus, it has a potential to make us question the origin of basically whatever medium we see or hear,...

The fundamental goal of the project presented is to encourage older people’s cultural participation and the associated positive intergenerational impact of cultural events and activities at the local and regional levels. The project’s implementation will provide public administration with comprehensive guidelines for systematic encouragement of intergenerational transfer and sharing of cultural values through cultural dialogue at the local and regional levels. In that way, public policies in the area can significantly contribute to intergenerational cohabitation. The project enhances understanding of a character of the mechanisms of intergenerational dialogue that is connected with learning and cultural transmission in the contexts of local and regional cultural events and initiatives. It shows the possibilities and indentify the competences (of public administration sector), that need to be strengthened if we want to improve the mechanisms of dialogue. The practical goal of the project is to offer the set of recommendations how to support the process of intergenerational dialogue and create the space for its functions in the public space of the municipalities and regions.

Edgework: Risk in extreme sports in terms of gender
Ruso, Filip ; Richter, Eva (advisor) ; Buriánek, Jiří (referee)
The topic of this thesis is voluntary risk-taking in extreme sports. Its primary theoretical basis is (possibly) the most comprehensive concept of voluntary risk-taking - the edgework by Stephan Lyng. The aim of the thesis was to find out whether extreme athletes differ in motivational factors or risk and emotion perception based on their gender. Since Lyng's Edgework suffers from a gender bias (respondents of his study were only men) and considering the aim of this work, it was necessary to conduct a proper research among Czech climbers. Its results are contrasted mainly with the edgework. Following analysis of macro and micro-sociological factors contributing to the engagement in extreme sports is based, apart from the edgework, on the compensation and adaptation theory, Goffman's concept of action and data from the conducted research. The final discussion summarizes the gender differences - women are less risk-averse in extreme sports, men consider extreme sports more attractive, women feel fear more often than men, society is more tolerant towards men as extreme athletes than women et cetera.
Social impacts of environmental measures on low-income groups
Kašuba, Štěpán ; Richter, Eva (advisor) ; Sládek, Jan (referee)
The text is about socioeconomic impacts of environmental measures on inequality of low-income groups. Primarily it takes into account measures focused on lowering the amount of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere. The objective of the text is, with the form of literature review, to summarize the impacts on economic and other inequalities of low-income groups and identify the main characteristics connected to positive or negative impacts. The impact of green job implementation is also considered. As the review shows, low income groups are potentially vulnerable group which can however profit if the measures are sensitively applied in connection to their situation. Main characteristics connected to positive outcomes are compensatory mechanism, balancing possible negative elements, and existence of managing authority in charge of measure planning and implementation. Concrete impacts are however specific for unique contexts and there is a need of individual solution for particular environment. Key words: Environmental measures, social inequality, low-income groups, social impacts
