Dyslexia and creativity

The thesis deals with the so called "positive aspects" of dyslexia, specifically enhanced creativity among dyslexics. It has recently become common to associate dyslexia not only with its symptoms and deficits, but also to emphasize its possible gains. Anecdotal evidence refers to enhanced creativity and more specific abilities of individuals with dyslexia. Based on the results of foreign studies that suggest a connection between dyslexia and increased cre- ativity together with the results of a previous research study covering this topic (Brancuská, 2012), this research study was carried out to map the creative potential of adults (university students or already employed). The research group consisted of 40 adults with dyslexia and 40 intact counterparts aged between 19 to 40 years (thereof 46 women and 34 men). The data were obtained via Torrance Figural Test of Creative Thinking. We then compared the levels obtained within the experimental and the comparison groups in three specific areas - originality, elaboration and provision of non-standard and unusual responses. Mental hygiene as a burnout prevention of counseling staff

The thesis deals with the issue of mental hygiene as a burnout prevention of counselling staff working in counselling for family, marriage and human relations. It is focused on psychologists and social workers. The first part deals with the issues related to the counselling and requirements for counselling staff, as well as the specifics and risks associated with the profession, and the clientele that comes to counselling. Furthermore, the thesis deals with the issues of burnout syndrome and mental hygiene related to the profession of counselling staff. The second part of the diploma thesis is processed in the form of empirical explorative research which aim was to map the issue of mental hygiene as a prevention of burnout syndrome among counselling staff, specifically psychologists and social workers working in the counselling for the family, marriage and human relations. It was found out that the counseling staff perceive as the most burdensome administrative and organizational components of their work and unmotivated or difficult clients. On the contrary they are most enriched with the diversity and variety of client stories, meeting with clients and feeling of their meaningfulness. Professional and lay psychology of education of children in the family

The thesis aims to find out the general public's views on raising children within the family, and to compare it with selected psychological research. The theoretical part is a review of several studies over recent years dealing with a child's upbringing in a family, selected so as to reflect the views of the general public, specifically parents, and responds to these themes from a professional point of view. The empirical part attempts to explore the values, attitudes, and opinions of parents on key educational situations, using a questionnaire method. The thesis investigates current trends among parents' child-rearing methods within the Czech Republic, and compares them with the current findings of modern psychological research on education in the family.
Educational styles of secondary school teachers

The present thesis is devoted to educational styles of secondary school teachers. The literary overview describes progressively the most important educational environment of high school students - their family, school and peers. This section provides more detailed information about socialization in adolescence. The interaction with other people is considered as the starting point of their socialization. The concept of "significant others" (parents, teachers) as an irreplaceable factor of adolescent's development and growth is particularly highlights at the thesis. Follow-up to the characteristics of interaction and communication at pedagogical-psychological context the different views of educational styles of teachers and specifics that relate to the educational environment of secondary schools are introduced. In another part of the thesis a research project is proposed. It pays attention to secondary school teachers who teach "Pedagogy" and "Psychology" which are characterized briefly by their specific position in relation to the educational styles at the introduction. Methods for detecting cognitive deficits in preschool children

The bachelor thesis deals with methods for detecting cognitive deficits in preschool children. The theoretical part aims on cognitive level of preschool children and cognitive deficits, which can occure at this age. There are described diagnostic methods, which are used in the Czech Republic in order to detect cognitive deficits in preschool children. Furthermore, the thesis focuses on dynamic testing and its comparsion with classical intelligence tests. The empirical part contains design of an experimental study. The purpose of the study is to verify the effectivity of ACFS, a new method of dynamic testing, in long-term perspective. Dynamic assessment of preschool children -Application of Cognitive Function Scale (ACFS)

The aim of this thesis is to verify the practical utility of the Application of Cognitive Functions Scale (ACFS) to determin cognitive development of pre-school children. The theoretical part looks into specifics of the pre-school period and introduces the precise meaning of dynamic assessment, which is typical by its format consisting of three phases: pre- test - intervention - post-test. This part outlines the ACFS method and the influence of an adult on the process of mediated learning experience, which is a vital part of the intervention phase of the dynamic assessment. The empirical part describes the use of dynamic assessment and examines the possibilities of the ACFS method to observe the potential of cognitive functions development of pre-school children. The results show that the ACFS method is well-adapted to identify the potential of cognitive functions development of children and it provides specific and efficient guidelines for further development of their cognitive skills. Coping with Stress in Parents of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

in English: This diploma thesis is focused on parents coping with the burden of having children with autism spectrum disorder. It's goal is to analyze parent's strategy to cope with such burden in relation to taking care of a child with autistic spectrum disorder. Thesis is constructed as an emprical qualitativeresearch which also involves quantitative data. Data were acquired via half - structured interviews with parents of children with autism spectrum disorder.Furthermore, a questionnaire SVF 78 "Strategy of stress management" was used and filled out by the parents. The data were subsequently qualitatively analyzed and interpreted using content analysis. Finally, a comparison to specialized literature was performed. The text of the thesis itself is composed of three parts. First part includes theoretical solutions that are based on both Czech and foreign literature concerned with autism theory and coping with stress of parents bringing up an autistic child. Second part is focusing on the methodology and data analysis procedure. The final third part is dedicated to the interpretation of interviews and discussion results, combined with results of available literature research. Sexual identity in adolescence growing up in an orphanage

This thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical section is devoted to adolescence, identity, gender identity and issues in formation of sexual identity in foster homes. The empirical part describes the process of research and summarizes the research results. The research was conducted in qualitative way. For this research was created semi- structured interview. Data were processed in several ways: non-parametric tests, Wilcoxon test and Mann-Whitney rank test; descriptive ways of creating a category or simple description of the phenomenon. The attention of research was mainly focused to the characteristics of a woman, men, boyfriend/girlfriend, me, mother and father. The results show differences between the experimental and the control group, especially in some characteristics relating to oneself within partnerships, award-winning fact to be someone within the relationship, the negative elements in the social representation of "Me". The research gives an insight on the issue. Its qualitative nature reveals the characteristics mentioned by respondents, rather than to seek confirmation of relationships. This bachelor's thesis occupies itself with relationship between significant adults and development of adolescents. Theoretical part describes basic characteristic of these relationships, social development of adolescent, fundamental concepts and selected outcomes of relationship. In the second part is presented my research project. This project is focused on basic characteristics of these relationships in Czech republic and possible connections between these relationships and academical self-efficacy.
How do people cope the divorce of their parents

The aim of this work is to identify what helped young adults during their childhood to cope with stress situations, which was for them the divorce of their parents, what their coping made worse, how they look on that situation with the passage of time and whether they already feel balanced with it. In the theoretical part are the key issues the divorce and coping strategies. Attention is focused especially on experiencing and coping with divorce by children. For coherence of this topic this part also touches the short-term and long-term impact of divorce on children and family structure after divorce. The empirical part is based on a qualitative analysis of 12 interviews with young adults who experienced parental divorce during childhood. For data evaluation is used thematic analysis. The results revealed protective and risk factors that correspond with the findings mentioned in scientific literature. Keywords: Divorce, family, psychosocial stress, coping strategies
