Quality of life of people with endocrine diseases

Cushing's syndrome is a rare disease caused by increased cortisol secretion, which is associated with significantly increased morbidity and mortality. Besides somatic signs and symptoms it is characterized also with impaired quality of life. The aim of this study was to find out how Cushing's syndrome influences the quality of life in Czech Republic. 24 subjects with active Cushing's syndrome (18 women, 6 men) aged 39,6±13,9 yrs. And 75 healthy control subjects (64 women, 11 men) aged 39,4±14,12 were examined using disease specific quality of life questionnaires (Cushig QoL). Answers were statistically analysed using Mann- Whitney test. Questionnaire was combined with narrative and structured interviews. We used so called "A grounded theory" to analyse the data. The results of our study demonstrated impaired quality of life in both, somatic, psychological and social consequences fields. The quality of life of people with Cushing's syndrome was affected mainly by changes on their body, disturbed self-conception, disorder of cognitive functions, emotional disorders, changes of social rolest, fatigue, pain, knowledge about this disease and its medical treatment. Education of pupils in the Jedlička Institute and Schools

This diploma thesis "Education of Pupils at Jedlička Institute and Schools" contains information about physically disabled pupils. The aim of the diploma thesis was to discover the needs and methods of physically disabled pupils' education. The research was focused on what teaching methods, didactic tools, compensation aids and other means and access to pupils are used by teachers at primary school. The diploma thesis includes an analysis of an asset of Jedlička Institute and Schools. The research uses the following methods: structured interviews with teachers and participant observation at primary school. The theoretical part of the thesis comprises kinds of physical disability, combined disability, Jedlička Institute and Schools and information about education of physically disabled pupils and pupils with combined disability. The practical part of the thesis deals with an interaction between pupils and teachers, with cerebral palsy, teaching methods and pupils' needs. The Diploma Thesis represents teachers' approach to the inclusion, and the inclusive education in a common primary school. The theoretical part provides information about the basic legislation in the field of inclusion, and explains terms such as integration, inclusion, inclusive education. It focuses on the supportive arrangements for pupils with special educational needs, and analyses specifics of inclusive settings in the concrete school. The practical part describes the research. The aim of the research was to point out the teachers' attitude towards the inclusion and to evaluate their experience with the inclusive settings at the concrete school. The research reveals positive as well as negative opinions. It also summarises difficulties regarding the inclusive education. The research points out that there is slightly more of a negative attitude among the teachers towards the inclusion, however more than half of the teachers feel the importance of inclusion regarding pupils with specific educational needs. Possibilities of support in the education of the second generation immigrant pupils

The prime subject this thesis is the issue of support in the education of pupils from the second generation of Ukrainian migrants in primary schools. The theoretical part is devoted to the definition of basic concepts, a summary of the findings from previous research on the second generation of migrants, an analysis of the legislative framework, which accompanies explored problems, and identification of the potential risks posed by the pupils migrant background. The aim of the research section was to determine specific barriers in the process of education and integration of pupils from the second generation of Ukrainian migrants and what forms and means of support in the field of education and social inclusion are used by teachers on these students. influence of persistent primitive reflexes of psychomotor development in children with cerebral palsy

The diploma thesis is focused on psychomotor development in children with cerebral palsy in context of persisting primitive reflexes. Opening chapters summarize theoretical knowledge about cerebral palsy, its etiology, clinical picture, forms and comprehensive diagnostics, including special education. The next part of the thesis focuses on psychomotor development of a child with cerebral palsy, in particular the gross and fine motor activity development and speech development. The main section of the thesis discusses the neurophysiological principles of primitive reflexes and their relevance for early development of a child. The primitive reflexes, one by one, as well as the influence of their persistence on the psychomotor development of the child with cerebral palsy and options of their integration by selected therapeutic concepts are presented. Project of class for puppils with autism implementing knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis

The aim of this thesis is to describe and evaluate the education of an autistic pupil in the mainstream school according to the principles of applied behavioural analysis. The default method is the Pennsylvania Verbal Behavior Project, which was implemented at a Czech primary school. The thesis presents a theoretical description of this educational method and its particular techniques. Their practical application is illustrated by the research case study report of a pupil, who was observed in my research. In this research case analysis, I have analysed the input skills of the observed pupil and his progress in particular areas and evaluated status not only according to the VB-MAPP diagnostic material. Description of the development of verbal behaviour is the core objective systematically developed by this educational method and it is an integral part of the pupil's active participation in joint learning. The Role of Teaching Assistant at Elementary School

This thesis concerns the cooperation between teacher and teaching assistant (TA) at mainstream elementary school, with the emphasis on perception of TA's presence at the first stage and the second stage of education. It is comprised of two sections. Theoretical part is divided into three chapters. The first chapter focuses on the current concept definition of integrative and inclusive pedagogy, and coherent changes in recent years. The second one outlines the professional approach to TA, with emphasis on their usage at mainstream schools, including their employment abroad. The last chapter targets on mutual relationship of TA and other pedagogical staff, teachers and students themselves. The practical part of the thesis is devoted to mixed research which has two parts. The first one deals with the role of TA at mainstream elementary school focusing on his cooperation with teacher, in terms of a first-stage and second-stage class. For purpose of this part of study was chosen the qualitative research method with the usage of semi-structured in-depth interview. There were selected three respondents with required profiles. Role of the teacher assistant in inclusive education from the perspective of teacher at elementary school

The topic of the thesis is the role of the teacher's assistant in inclusive education from the perspective of a teacher at elementary school. The aim is to find out how teachers perceive the position of teacher's assistant in the education of pupils with special educational needs. The theoretic part deals with basic and inclusive education, including relevant legislation, support measures, defining the position of teacher's assistant, his / her competences, job description and possibilities of cooperation with the class teacher. The empirical part analyzes interviews with class teachers who teach a pupil with special educational needs and thanks to they can cooperate with teacher assistants. Everything is complemented with findings from the observation of the activities of the teacher's assistant in the given class. At the end of the thesis, research questions are answered and some suggestions are defined. The research shows that the teacher's assistant is a necessary support in the classroom especially for pupils with mental disabilities.
