Speaking is silver, silence is golden? Environmentally aesthetic analysis of selected documentary films
Kubena, Martin ; Mašek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Řehořová, Irena (referee)
This master's thesis analyses and compares selected documentary films, "Samsara" and "Before the Flood" which differ mainly in the way of thematization and construction of nature. The analysis is done using the dominant environmental aesthetic concepts - aesthetic engagement and cognitive aesthetics. With the help of an in-depth semiotic analysis, it is examined how the motifs of nature are presented in these different genres of documentary film, what film techniques and techniques are used for this and how this selection influences the perception and evaluation of the depicted nature. What makes this work unique is the connection between film art and environmental aesthetics. Ultimately, understanding how certain genre-conventional films depict nature can contribute to a better understanding of people's relationship with nature. Analysis has shown that the depiction of the aesthetic value of nature is different in both documents, with "Samsara" presenting nature in accordance with the aesthetic engagement, while "Before the Flood" is rather indifferent to the set environmental aesthetic theories. All other findings are found in the Analytical part of the document. Keywords Film, documentary, aesthetics, appreciation, environment, nature, culture, art, sensitivity, knowledge, engagement, Samsara,...

New exotarium at ZOO Brno
Charvátová, Karolína ; Boháč, Ivo (referee) ; Šindlar, Jiljí (advisor)
The subject of the bachelor thesis is the preparation of project documentation for construction permits and part of the documentation for the implementation of the construction on the basis of the assignment, which was provided in the course BGA036 - Architectural Design Studio 5 in the summer semester Year 3 on the topic of interior design, which was later extended to public buildings. The topic of the study is the design of a new exotarium at the Brno Zoo. The plot of land in question is located on the territory of the Brno Zoo in the South Moravian Region. The concept of the architectural design was to create modern and hygienic spaces for a dignified life of animals in captivity and at the same time to allow visitors to have a glimpse into animal life and behaviour. It is a two-storey, partly basemented building with an open interior space that is divided into two main sections - aquatic life and air life. The basic idea of the project is to provide enough space for animal life in the pavilion, and therefore a large dome-shaped aviary is created for the birds, extending over the entire roof of the building. For fish, large aquariums are created. There is also a lecture room, staff facilities and thermal engineering facilities in the building. All functions of the building have their necessary facilities.

Mix/Match Brno
Hanáková, Sascha ; Rozwalka, Szymon (referee) ; Toman, Radek (advisor)
The bachelor thesis Not Only Human deals with the design of an object whose primary function is to fill a gap on Hlinky Street, in the wider centre of Brno. Currently, there are three garages and a temporary warehouse building on the plot in question, and the thesis envisages their removal. The new building complements the existing development, while its height respects the scale of the surrounding buildings. The functional content of the proposed building is primarily housing, which is complemented by the function of a children's leisure centre and community spaces for the residents of the apartment building. The design seeks to link the urban fabric with the more relaxed nature of the countryside that surrounds the site to the north.

Weekly lesson plan on the theme: Discovering treasures of our nature
TROJÁKOVÁ, Alena
The bachelor thesis's intended purpose was to create an environmental lesson plan. In the theoretical part, there was a described theoretical basis from which the lesson plan came out. This section defined environmental education, its goals, methods, and principles. There was devoted space to its application in kindergarten, the importance of the school garden, and the connection between environmental education and the curriculum for preschool education. Last but not least experience learning, game, and flow learning have been described. The practical part includes an assembled lesson plan, daily evaluation, and final evaluation with children. In the plan were environmental activities, which developed environmental sensivity and created a positive attitude toward nature. In the end, it was found that the most successful aktivity was the one carried out directly in the forest, namely the building of a village for gnomes. The least liked activity was walking to the forest, which was too long in their words. Another unliked activity was earthworm touching, but it was voluntary. Most children gave up on the activity and those who tried it found it unpleasant.
