Svobodová, Marie ; Řehořová, Irena (advisor) ; Marcelli, Miroslav (referee)
This thesis focuses on the concept of media convergence as an complex and unpredictable process of old and new media colliding. More precisely, the the focus is of convergence between the television and the internet media. Due to digitalization the TV is undergoing changes and unavoidably interacts with the internet. The media convergence is shown on the example of a Czech reality show called Like House, where a group of influencers - internet (micro)celebrities - lives under one roof. Like House 2 is here not considered just as a reality show but as a hybrid multimedia project that spans across multiple media platforms and comes to be from multiple sources. Based on the analysis of the TV episodes as well as the associated social media, the conclusion is that the logic of television and internet is inherently linked together here. Like House 2 is an example of how media convergence can look like where media are converging on multiple levels.

Subsequently, a comparison of three Czech adaptions of the reality show Survivor is accomplished. In two more recent adaptions, only the show's first series is included in the comparison. The comparison of adaptions is based on the following aspects: the name of the show, program strategy (broadcasting schedule, number, and duration of episodes, sideshow), the cast (contestants and hosts), the visual and audio elements of the show, the episode structure, rules, content selection, and feedback (viewership, reviews).
Reality Show Survivor: Competition, or Conflict?
Blažek, Jakub ; Hájek, Martin (advisor) ; Kolomoiets, Maksym (referee)
This thesis examines competition and conflict in the reality show Survivor. Its goal is to find out to what extent there are competitive and conflicting situations in the show, how they intertwine with each other, and how does this impact the final form of the show. In relation to this, the work also examines to what extent these interactions take place spontaneously, and to what extent they are constructed by the production of the show. It draws on academic literature on competition, conflict, and reality show, in order to backup the research with suitable theory. The research itself is done through the transcription of episodes of the reality show Survivor, which is then subjected to textual and contextual analysis. This enables subsequent interpretation of the findings. This interpretation shows that both competition and conflict have a central role in the show, and at the same time they are greatly interconnected. There is a lot of emphasis on competition in the show, which is especially noticeable during the challenges, where two tribes compete against each other. These challenges are bounded by rules, and they also offer a goal for which both tribes compete. To achieve this goal, it is neccessary to overcome the opponent's tribe. These situations are completely constructed by the production...

The purpose of the thesis is to reveal the motivations leading to watching this show and to explore, whether the viewers perceive the show as a fashion show which allows them to draw inspiration, or rather as a reality show that should entertain them. The theoretical part introduces the concepts as audience, uses and gratifications and reality show genre. The final analysis of the acquired data is based on these terms but it aims to invent a new hypothesis. The second part is devoted to the research that is based on a qualitative method of a grounded theory. Required data was collected by the semi-structured interviews with viewers divided into two age categories. The result of categorizing data indicates that for all viewers the main motivation for watching the show is to have fun. Participants reported enjoying the program because of its' humour, while fashion plays an irrelevant role. The findings also show that participants are aware of interventions of production and they explained manipulating competitors as a strategy of the broadcasters to entertain audience and attract more viewers.
