The future of human exoplanet settlement
Slezák, Jan ; Dušek,, Jiří (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The diploma thesis "The future of human exoplanet settlement from the present point of view" is focused on the analysis of the development of the urban compo-sition of the city for the purpose of finding the most suitable concept of the set-tlement. Its foundation is hypothetically put on some of the planets outside the solar system, where could be comparable conditions as on Earth. Installation in these extreme conditions is chosen deliberately so that the essential aspects of the urban layout come to the fore. In this way it is possible at the same time to verify the presumption of stability of the basic assumptions of a functional city and ap-ply the final conclusions in the current conditions as well.
The American Media System and Political Parallelism: From Internal to External Pluralism
Charvát, Šimon ; Křeček, Jan (advisor) ; Nečas, Vlastimil (referee)
This bachelor's thesis examines the changing media system in the United States. Previously, the U.S. media system was seen as having the highest quality of journalism and its journalists as the greatest professionals. Due to the innovation of technology and increasing commercialization, the American media system is undergoing a major transformation. Part of this transformation is the transition from a media model of internal pluralism to one of external pluralism. In recent decades, the private American media, which were characterised by their impartiality and political balance, have begun to take committed positions and to side with political affiliations. Through a research of media science and political communication theories, followed by a structured synthesis, this paper aims to answer the question of why, when, and for what partial reasons this transformation occurred. This thesis will first describe the systems understanding of democracy and the integral role of the media system within it, place the American media system in historical context, and introduce the reader to theoretical models of media systems. It will describe aspects of the media system such as political parallelism and commercialization and then offer possible reasons behind this transformation. This work can serve as a...

Čechurová, Helena ; Šťovíčková Jantulová, Magdaléna (advisor) ; Moree, Dana (referee)
The diploma thesis focuses on the commercialization of civil society organizations (CSOs), specifically the institutional isomorphism that makes CSOs "business like" as well as the relationship between CSOs and the commercial sector in the context of commercialization. The purpose of this thesis is to gain an understanding of the manager's perspectives representing CSOs in the field of elderly care in the Czech Republic, with a particular emphasis on the institutional isomorphism and the relationships mentioned above. The findings of the study were obtained from narrative and semi-structured interviews with seven selected managers in the field of elderly care in the Czech Republic. The findings indicate that the participants regard the institutional isomorphism (coercive) as unfair and meaningless; patchy and outdated. The examination of the level of relationships between CSOs and the commercial sector resulted in the Relationships Typology. The typology presents three foundations based on need, reputation, and crisis that have been identified as the foundations for developing relationships between CSOs and the commercial sector. Each foundation conceals the unique nature of relationships visible in commercialized CSOs as reflected by selected managers. Key words: business-like, hybridization,...

Hlavatá, Aneta ; Vránová, Miriam (advisor) ; Legnerová, Kateřina (referee)
New civil society organizations are those that are most often commercialized. Salamon (2005) discusses commercialization when organizations are motivated to offer services and products exclusively for profit. He presents commercialization as the penetration of market principles, culture and thinking into the non-profit sector. This phenomenon at NGOs serves the purpose of gaining financial independence and legitimization. On the other hand, the Center for Public Opinion Research (2019) published a report in which it was found that NGOs find themselves at the bottom places in a survey of credibility in selected institutions. The diploma thesis aimed to determine how NGOs should successfully communicate their activity to stakeholders to strengthen external credibility and gain financial independence and corporate culture. The research included techniques such as questionnaire survey, non- intrusive techniques and semi-structured interviews. The results have shown that the role of communication strategy is significant in the selected NGO. The NGO develops and evaluates the strategy annually and includes its entire organizational team. The results also drew attention to elements of commercialization in the organization. The processes in the selected NGO are to build a good name in society, which could...
The controversial nature of a social enterprise as a commercialized organization of the civil sector
Hořínková, Monika ; Frič, Pavol (advisor) ; Witz, Petr (referee)
The topic of this diploma thesis is the commercialization of civic organizations, which we understand as the process in which they take over some procedures, methods and strategies of the commercial sector in order to generate some profit. As the highest level of commercialization, this work considers the transformation of civil organization into a so called social enterprise. At the next potential level, this civic organization would become a pure market enterprise acting as socially responsible. Thus, a social enterprise is defined as a civic organization, for which profiting is just as important as an increase in public benefit by fulfilling of its own altruistic mission. However, it is said that this social mission may be threatened by the economic one. Whereas the social enterprise combines those two opposing attributes in the form of a social and economic mission, it is considered to be controversial. That's why the aim of this diploma thesis is to determine the importance of a transformation of civic organization into the social enterprise for its life and how this transformation affects its functioning and its essence. The diploma theses is based primarily on the theory of civil society, the civil sector, the social economy and the theory of social enterprise. It is a case study, which...
