Conflict resolution strategies in romantic relationships in context of attachment and emotional regulation

The thesis focuses on the issue of conflict resolution in romantic relationships which is viewed from the perspective of attachment and emotion regulation theory. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the content of the mentioned constructs and presents an overview of available empirical findings dealing with the issue. The empirical part of the thesis verifies connections between attachment anxiety and avoidance, conflict resolution styles and emotion regulation strategies, which demonstrates the research variables arised from the administered ECR-R-16 (Dotazník prožívání blízkých vztahů), RPCS (Relationship Partner Conflict Scale) and CERQ (Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire) questionnaires.
Emotional intelligence and its comparison among heterosexual and homosexual people

The aim of the theoretical part of the thesis is emotional intelligence and the overview of changes in understanding this construct since its establishment. Furthermore, the thesis provides a summary of two significant models of emotional intelligence as well as a survey of existing means of its measurement and enumeration of studies focused on the connection between emotional intelligence and particular aspects of life. Finally, the theoretical part of the thesis explores the possibilities of developing emotional intelligence. The practical part uses quantitative research to analyse individual differences in emotional intelligence by comparing the levels of emotional intelligence between homosexual and heterosexual population. The findings revealed a significant difference between trait emotional intelligence of homosexual and heterosexual men. Moreover, the results also verify the difference in overall emotion regulation and emotion regulation strategy of emotion suppression between heterosexuals and homosexuals. The findings also support the claim that women have higher emotional intelligence than men and that the individuals who regard themselves as physically healthy have higher emotional intelligence than those who consider themselves as seriously ill. Emotionality of children who experienced domestic violence in their families

This thesis studies a specific population of children exposed to domestic violence. The theoretical part is focused on the impacts of domestic violence on emotionality and emotional development of children. It also deals with the problematic aspects of children's emotionality that are believed to be disturbed by this traumatizing experience. These particular areas were chosen based on present studies focused on the children exposed to domestic violence. The empirical part of the study was developed in cooperation with the Locika centre. It studies chosen aspects of children's emotionality in a quantitative and qualitative way. Particularly, it investigates the ability to distinguish emotions and the ability of emotion regulation within the overall cognitive development.

Chosen aspects of family environment, maternal sensitivity and its influence on the relatonship between mother and child

This thesis deals with maternal support and care in stressful situation, especially what effect have chosen family environment. The theoretical part is devoted to topics like attachment, family and raising child. Furthermore, the author focuses on the foster care and the description of behaviour of foster children. In the empirical part was analyzed semi-structured interview with eight mothers. There were four foster mothers and four mothers with their biological children. In this thesis was examined differences between these two groups of mothers in using coping strategies. Significant differences weren't found in strategies used by mothers between chosen groups. We placed upon record factors affected their choices. Some of these factors are influenced by examined family environment.
