Discriminatory practices of recruiters in the job search process in the Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis aims to describe and reveal discriminatory practices faced by candidates in the labor market in the Czech Republic. Using perspective and point of view of recruiters introduces an innovative element in examining discriminatory practices. Attention is paid to particular methods of recruitment, as they vary greatly. Each of them is targeting a different group of candidates for a job. The thesis is divided into four parts. The first part is theoretical, it introduces readers to the legislative regulation and protection against discrimination in the Czech law system. It shows the human capital theory, theory of queues and signals and personalist agenda. The second section is methodological, defining data and data collection methods. Following part is devoted to research itself, it describes the identified data from interviews with communication partners, which are then interpreted in the context of the theoretical background. Research among recruiters is focused on finding the characteristics of the ideal job candidate, fairness of admission process, but also to the used discriminatory practices. Final section brings the most important findings.

Social assistance for seniors

1 "Social assistance for seniors" Abstract The rigorous thesis aims at the theme of social services and care allowance in connection to care towards specific social services clients who are the elderly. The aging of population is the very actual topic not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad. The Czech population grows. However, the growth within the group of elderly is considerable compared to others. According to the forecasts, the population will still be getting older, and that will result in a greater need for care of the elderly. The rigorous thesis consists of six parts. The first chapter deals with the aging and old age, including the ageism phenomenon, and outlines social assistance for the elderly as a part of the social security system of the Czech Republic. The second chapter aims at social services not only from the view of users (the elderly) but also of social services providers. The author has tried to analyse the potential difficulties of social work. The system of social services financing is also mentioned. The third chapter describes care allowance, eligibility for it, its control, and use. Apart from that, the thesis analyses a sample of four magazines focused on seniors: Generace, Revue 50plus, Vital plus, Magazín 55+ (or Magazín Plus), year 2010. In order to understand the subject matter of this thesis, the first chapter deals with definitions and their interpretation. The first subchapter discusses the term "age" or "oldness" as well as the current status of seniors in our society. The second subchapter defines the term "lifestyle magazine". The following chapter is dedicated to the media market, specifically to the area of printed periodicals. It introduces the most widely read magazines on the Czech market, discusses periodicals focused on seniors in the Czech Republic (whether printed or electronic) and, marginally, also mentions magazines focused on senior published in other countries. Seniors and active aging in the seniors'house in Ostrava

Demographic aging of population brings a number of needs, demands and changes in many areas of social life. In this case, Czech Republic has accepted several documents which also contain National Programme of Preparation for Aging for 2003 - 2007, and then for 2008 - 2012. This document regards to the concept of active aging and old age, which was accepted by the World Health Organization in the 90's, defined as a process of health quality development, seniors' social participation and the entire rising of a quality of life in an old age. The activity becomes desirable and proper way of the seniors' life. The diploma project is focused on the seniors' activities, specifically on the offer of activation activities and their usage in Ostrava seniors' house. The theoretical part is pursued on the definition of aging and old age, physical, mental and social changes and the science disciplines, which are focused on those. Besides, it deals with social services, closer with the seniors' houses, activity and activation in the houses and about the concept of active aging, National Programme of Preparation for Aging and European Year of Active Aging. The care allowance and its use for the needs of senior citizens in the Czech Republic

The master's thesis is focused on the current topic of aging population. This coincided with the growing need for care for the elderly, and this fact is reflected in the Czech legislation. Thesis is focused on care allowance and its use for the care of social services specific clientele consisting of seniors. This thesis is composed of a total of four chapters. The first chapter is mentioned the history of social legislation. In the second chapter is analyzed the phenomenon of aging and old age, including its downsides, and demographics. The third, crucial chapter of this thesis is devoted to the institute of care allowance in terms of its use by the addressees - particularly by the seniors. This chapter also mentions the conditions for entitlement to care allowance and control its use. The third chapter also contains demographic data and analysis of the purchasing power of the care allowance in relation to period of care for a dependent person. It contains analysis of care allowance use with a budget for individual days to payment care of dependent person. Last, described the shortcomings of the legislation and any attempt to outline possible solutions de lege ferenda.
