Community and (Non)Individualized Person. The Case of Fandom.
Hásová, Veronika ; Buriánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Sekot, Aleš (referee) ; Numerato, Dino (referee)
This dissertation examines sports fandom through the lens of sociology of community. The aim of the thesis is to verify the functionality of the concept of community in contemporary Czech individualized society and to propose a possible grasp of the concept for analytical research. Thus, the theoretical part focuses on aspects that can be helpful to define, explore and compare communities in today's society. The empirical part is based on a qualitative case study combined with an ethnographic approach, where the focus is on one particular community, the community of hockey fans. The findings show that the fan community has undergone two generational changes in the period under study and that social relationships are a very important element for all processes in the community to ensure a sense of belonging to the community and the very survival of the community over time. Community is still a functional term that dynamically changes in response to social change and should certainly not be neglected by sociological research, for example because of its unclear conceptualisation. That is, it is possible to think of individuation and community as parallel processes that form a dialectical relationship with each other, rather than as mutually exclusive. Key words: community, individualization, fandom,...
Sport and Czech Society: Sources of Differences in Sports Participation
Špaček, Ondřej ; Numerato, Dino (advisor) ; Sekot, Aleš (referee) ; Leška, Dušan (referee)
The thesis examines changes in sports participation in Czech society in last decades. Sports activities are conceptualized as a practice, routinized habit that is shared in a society's culture (Reckwitz 2002; Warde 2005). Bourdieu's (1984) also shows how different social positions generate different taste and preferences, which are simultaneously classified and base for symbolic borders between social classes. The empirical analysis focuses on sports participation during the last three decades and deeper understanding of differentiation and meanings of today's sports activity. The results clearly show profound increase in sports participation, from 25 % in 1984 to 67 % in 2009. The cohort analysis confirms that dynamics of sports practices' spread have roots in the socialization process and cohort exchange, because younger cohorts have a stable higher level of sports participation irrespective of their aging. Lasting impact of cultural capital on sports participation is particularly striking, especially in the light of the major change in society's regime in the 1989 and after. This brings attention to the question, how mechanisms of social inequalities - especially cultural capital - worked in a similar way across supposedly different social orders. Next chapter deals with patterns of participation in...

Trunečka, Ondřej ; Němcová Tejkalová, Alice (advisor) ; Sekot, Aleš (referee) ; Waschková Císařová, Lenka (referee)
The transformation of sports sections of Czech daily newspapers between 2001 and 2015 The dissertation deals with the transformation of sports sectionsin the daily newspapers, in their traditional paper form, between 2001 and 2015. In this period, Hospodářské noviny, Lidové noviny, Mladá fronta Dnes and Právo were faced with the almost permanent decrease of the circulation, the financial crisis in 2008 made their situation even more difficult. At the same time, sports journalism have changed due to the expansion of the TV stations and mainly of the Internet; the news became more available. The newspapers considered some innovation and they decided to change the number of pages devoted to sport or to replace the match and race reports by the reactions of players or more often by stories with larger context.

The thesis analyzes the development and status of the Olympic Movement in the Visegrad countries and makes the mutual comparison of it in these countries. History of development of modern sport since its inception, including interest in the nascent Olympic Movement in these countries, has similar features. Especially after the onset of communism the Czech and Slovak Republics, Hungary and Poland, went, not only in sport, through similar developments. This area was "united" and its management has pursued state organization, which claimed to control all branches of sport. After the fall of the communist regime awaited new challenges for sport. Sport had to at least partially replace state funding for alternative sources, build it's own structures, set up relationships between subjects of sports scene, establish the place in these relations and structures of the Olympic Committee or influence the legislative framework for their own effect. During the research it became clear that understanding the development of sport and the Olympic Movement after the fall of communism is not possible without a thorough description of the situation in the region after the Second World War and the emergence of communist regimes in the countries of the future Visegrad Four. Therefore, the original intention, working primarily...

PHILOSOPHICAL CONTEXTS OF PLAY PHENOMENON AND THE RULES OF FOOTBALL GAME IN SOCIETY EDUCATION Mgr. Antonín Plachý Dissertation, 2013 SUMMARY Aims The main aim of this work is to support freedom of options to correct own mistakes. This moment is important in everyday life, but in a sport that is still embedded in the play-game that is a profound expression of human freedom. This intention is philosophically difficult to support without practical step, which is promotion of the educational system and the selection of football referees, as a pedagogical purpose. Point speaking about human freedom in the role of referee, is in the football rules interpretation captured as a warning from their own mistakes compensation. I call that, point of convergence of this work. The position of referee as the guardian of fairness, using the rules of the game should be symbolically placed over and above human rules and not vice versa. At this point it is also expressed the importance of human desire for freedom and the need to order, as the constant balancing and searching of level of order in chaos. In the second goal and for me has the basic goal was to create football rules for children. I developed with a team of colleagues the rules of football on small forms and put into practice, included with pedagogical -educational...

A Healthy life style in Czech Republic
Buriánková, Jitka ; Hamplová, Dana (advisor) ; Šiftová, Jana (referee) ; Sekot, Aleš (referee)
This work gives an elementary insight into the issue of healthy lifestyles in terms of different perspectives, and so in this respect, we can follow up on Cockerham's study (2005), which offers a comprehensive paradigm of exploring a healthy lifestyle. The key issue lies in the debate on whether the choice of a healthy lifestyle is subject to structural influences or to individuals' choices (the classical problem of structure and behavior). The main aim of this work is to verify the determination of individual components of a healthy lifestyle. Due to the difficulty of finding one indicator, we examine separately the conditionality of healthy eating, smoking, drinking, sports. In the analysis of individual dimensions of a healthy lifestyle, we take into account not only the basic socio-demographic variables, but also the knowledge, attitude, well-being and compensation strategy as mediating factors of a healthy lifestyle. Enriching the analysis offers the inclusion of compensatory theory, because these strategies weaken the rationality of action. Compensation strategies play an important role in risky behavior. In this, our knowledge in the Czech environment is unique. The hypotheses are verified on a representative set of research "Aktér 2013" (N = 1088), carried out by STEM, which included...
