Signal propagation modeling for LPWA communication technologies
Pekárková, Kateřina ; Mašek, Pavel (referee) ; Možný, Radek (advisor)
At present, the area of LPWAN (Low Power Wide Area Network) wireless communication technologies is developing very dynamically, where the number of connected devices is rapidly increasing and thus the need to ensure implementation. An important part of the design and testing of a possible implementation of such an LPWA (Low Power Wide Area) network is the modeling of signal propagation in a given environment to ensure sufficient signal coverage. This work deals with the study of LPWAN wireless communication technologies operating in both the unlicensed frequency band and the licensed frequency band. In the practical part, the work focuses on the simulation of signal propagation using the simulation tool Wireless InSite, where the communication parameters were set according to WM-BUS (Wireless Meter Bus) technology.
High-speed optical transmission systems
Pekárková, Kateřina ; Číž, Radim (referee) ; Münster, Petr (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on high-speed optical connections using optical fibers for transmission and transmission systems with speeds above 100\,Gb/s. In the first part of the work, the theory of the area of optical high-speed connections is discussed, especially the work is focused on the coherent type of data transmissions. Modulation and multiplexing formats, chromatic dispersion, modal and polarization modal dispersion, optical fiber attenuation and nonlinear phenomena are also described. The theoretical part of the work also deals with the description of the differences between coherent and non-coherent transmission methods and the description of coherent high-speed optical transmission and its components. The practical part contains two laboratory tasks that, using simulations in the VPIphotonics environment, compare two-state and multi-state modulation for systems with a transfer rate of 10\,Gbit/s and 100\,Gbit/s. The properties of these modulation formats are demonstrated using decision eye diagrams, constellation diagram and bit error rate values for different lengths of optical fiber, which are the output of the simulation environment.

Specifics of Motivation and Expectation of Adult Applicants for University Studies
Pekárková, Kateřina ; Šerák, Michal (advisor) ; Záškodná, Helena (referee)
This bachelor's thesis characterizes adult applicants for study at university, deals with their motivation and expectations from university studies, all in the context of a formal education system. The thesis is divided into two parts - the first part consists of five chapters and represents basic thematic units (formal adult education, specifics of adult education, motivation and expectations of adults in relation to education, barriers in adult education) using domestic and foreign literature and research. The second part of the thesis contains a quantitative survey among selected applicants for university studies and focuses on the previously discussed aspects, especially the definition of a group of adult candidates, their motivation and expectations from participation in formal education (namely university studies). The empirical survey also compares the opinions of adult candidates for university studies (over 30 years) with the views of younger candidates aged 18-20 (most likely coming from high school). Key words adult education, motivation for formal education, career chase, graduates integration into the labor market
Non-governmental Organizations in Czech TV News - Události and Televizní noviny
Pekárková, Kateřina ; Pospíšilová, Tereza (advisor) ; Skovajsa, Marek (referee)
This diploma thesis deals organizations of civil sector in the media in the main news report "Události" of Czech television and in the main news report "Televizní noviny" of Nova Television. There is applied the method of the contentual analysis. The goal of the diploma thesis is to conclude if the information is prone to be positive, negative or if the news broadcast is noncomittal. In addition to that, this thesis examines other features of civil sector organizations in media, e.g. what kind of participants and activities have occured in news of civil sector organizations or how large of a space is dedicated to this topic in newscast. Key Words Non-governmental organizations, TV Newscast, Media Analysis, Media Image
Meditation of meaning in RPG
Pekárková, Kateřina ; Klusák, Miroslav (referee) ; Chrz, Vladimír (advisor)
The presented thesis is focused on the Role Playing Games (RPGs). These games developed from strategic war games in 70's in the USA, where they immediately gained a huge popularity and expanded to other countries. In the Czech Republic the first RPG called Draci doupe was published in 1990. In spite of robust expansion of these games, there is just a few scholarly papers about them, especially in the Czech Republic. Here, we find mainly students' papers, which are enthusiastic and well-oriented in RPGs but not enough interested in science. This thesis aspires on scientific framing of RPGs. There are many appealing topics in the RPGs - e.g. cooperation between players, collective construction of game world and events, personality traits of heroes played by players and their relationship to players' identities. In our research we adopt the approach of cultural-historical psychology from Vygotskij, Leontjev and Engestrom, and therefore we focused on the interactions between game participants and on the artifacts which modulate these interactions. Due to the specific structure of the investigated game group we revealed an educational relationship between the players and Game Master, we concentrated on this relationship and tried to analyze it. We revealed the meaning as the main topic in RPGs. We describe the...
The impact of the waiting period implementation on the sickness insurance in the Czech Republic in the years from 2008 to 2014
Pekárková, Kateřina ; Kubelková, Karina (advisor) ; Bartůsková, Lucia (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the implementation of the waiting period into the sickness insurance in the Czech Republic in the years from 2008 to 2014. The theoretical part explains the fundamental concepts related to the sickness insurance, the health insurance allowance and the waiting period. The practical part consists of a legal analysis and the current happening around the waiting period in the Czech Republic or in the EU and EFTA member states. The income and expenditure analysis of the sickness insurance helps to reveal that the costs of sickness insurance have decreased, which was also due to the implementation of the waiting period. This work evaluates data, which indicate that the short-term morbidity has decreased as well as the work incapacity. There are detailed calculations in the conclusion which show how adjustments in the sickness insurance changed the amount of wage compensation and the sick benefits. The aim of this work is to identify and quantify the benefits and costs of the waiting period implementation within the sickness insurance in the Czech Republic.
