Kraus, Jan ; Sýkora, Jan (referee) ; Labus, David (advisor)
This work concerns itselť with o ne oť the aspects oť the modernization oť Japan during the Meiji Era (1868-1912), the establishment oť a Civil Code based on western lega! princip les, in a broad context oť the historical and socio-political situation of the said period. First, it explores the state oť lega! knowledge in Japan at the end of the previous historical period, the Tokugawa Era. As a result of the development during the centuries prior to that, it may be said that the Japanese view oť law became to be such that the law was overshadowed by the traditional pattern oť a rigid social structure, preferring over law the mutual relations among the people living in such a system. Being ťorced to cancel her isolation policy by an extensive outside pressure ťrom the worlďs powers, Japan starts to strive for a general modernization. The s o called U nequal treaties established in the last years of the rule oť the Tokugawa shogunate between Japan and several countries set it to an inferior position, and this situation continued unchanged in the ťollowing Meiji period. The biofuels directive and its impact on the economics
Rollerová, Alena ; Zajíček, Miroslav (advisor) ; Mach, Petr (referee)
Liquid biofuels are supposed to be an alternative way to provide energy necessary for transportation which is in modern economies dominated by oil and oil products so far. Recent policies of the EU are to support the usage of this alternative. These policies were being justified by several arguments -- decreasing of oil-import dependence, support for agriculture, decrease of CO2 emissions etc. In this paper I discuss the validity of these supportive arguments and real and mostly unintended effects of aforementioned pro-biofuel-usage policies. I conclude that none of the arguments used to support the case of pro-biofuel-usage policies is based on sound economic reasoning and none is supported by available data or can be proved on the level of scientific standard. Moreover, unintended effects are mostly harmful for economies within and outside of the EU. Hopefully, there are signs of reconsidering of aforementioned policies.

The thesis is based on research of a series of Czech protectorate dailies, namely A- Zet, České slovo, Národní práce, Venkov a Vlajka. However, it also takes into account two illegal Czech periodicals, the magazine V boj and the Communist illegal newspaper Rudé právo.

Strnadová, Barbora ; Kotýnková, Magdalena (advisor) ; Kubelková, Karina (referee)
Poverty is one of the most oppressive topics all over the world. It is being fought both in developed and developing countries. As for the Czech Republic, poverty is associated with unemployment, especially with the long-term unemployment. On 1st January 2007, two new acts have come into effect; Act no. 110/2006 about minimum and living wage and Act no. 111/2006 about help in substantial shortage. These acts newly regulate the conditions of social benefits and its income with the objective of lowering the long-term unemployment. They incorporate elements that would sanction those who are unemployed and passive in search of a new job, and on the other hand should give advantage to those seeking actively. The purpose of my work is to examine the impacts and consequences of these two acts, and whether these has been any change in the long-term unemployment rate, positive change in its absolute values or positive change in its structure.

Naopak poměrně minimální byl vliv NO v krajích Jihočeském, Severomoravském a Jihomoravském.
