Subsidy importance in rural development (Chanovice, Pačejov, Myslív and Velký Bor)
Koláříková, Markéta ; Kocmánková Menšíková, Lucie (advisor) ; Pavel, Pavel (referee)
The main goal of the study was to find out and compare the significance of the received subsidies in the development of Chanovice, Pačejov, Myslív and Velký Bor villages. My work in the first place dealt with subsidies as an important part of a village income and as a tool for their development. The theoretical part is based on the study of special literature and other relevant sources relating to the examined issues. Attention is given to regional development, within which the two programming periods (2007 2013 and 2014 2020) are compared and also the financing of villages. The knowledge gained in the theoretical part are followed by secondary data analysis, in which it was found that the received subsidies hold an important position in the structure of Chanovice and Pačejov village incomes in the two other villages that position is not so important. Thanks to received subsidies in the period 2007 2013 the villages implemented a lot of developing projects, either infrastructural (most Pačejov village) or other (especially Chanovice village) character. In the framework of the infrastructure based projects all municipalities used the subsidies to build and repaire their water and transport infrastructures. Another field where the municipalities aimed the subsidies was field of education. Based on semi-structured interviews with mayors of selected villages the empirical part of my work was worked out afterward. The mayors share the opinion that the village development especially the development connected with infrastructure, the subsidies are necessary, but the way to obtain them is very difficult and costly for the small villages

Availability of urban green spaces in European cities
Malach Čejková, Petra ; Čihař, Martin (advisor) ; Reif, Jiří (referee)
Most of the European population and half of the world population lives in cities and their share will probably continue to increase (UN, 2010). With increasing urbanization, urban green spaces are becoming the most available means of contact with "nature" for more and more people. The aim of this bachelor thesis was to try to determine which factors affect the recreational use of urban green spaces. As the main factor was expected the availability of green spaces, ie. their quantity in the area of residence. The basis of the thesis was available literature on this subject, confronted with the outcomes of visitors monitoring in five forests in Prague between May 2009 and April 2010. The visitors monitoring followed a long series of studies, which were executed mainly by Institute for Enviromental Studies, Faculty of Science,Charles University, mostly as a dissertation thesises, in Prague forests and in Czech national parks. In this submitted thesis, particular attention was paid to data from the Prokopske udoli, where the author coordinated the visitors monitoring. During the 12 days of visitors monitoring, 14 359 visitors passed through the intersection of the main counting station - of which 59% walkers and 41% cyclists, moreover 868 dogs, 388 cars and 456 prams. Total estimated traffic is in the...

Origin and development of the Vlaams Blok-Vlaams Belang. Extreme right-wing or populistic party
Kratochvílová, Andrea ; Kučera, Rudolf (advisor) ; Říchová, Blanka (referee)
The thesis "Origin and development of the Vlaams Blok - Vlaams Belang. Etreme right-wing or populistic party." deals with a Belgian political party Vlaams Blok/Vlaams Belang, which has been often accused of right-wing extremism. That was the main reason behind the dissolution of the Vlaams Blok in 2004 by the verdict of Ghent, but it was soons substituted by a similar political party Vlaams Belang, which has an identical program and leadership. VB's primary goal remains the division of the country, mainly because Flanders, the richer part of Belgium, are feeling that the poorer part of the country (Valonia) are holding them back. Another reason behind the fight for division is the language differences. The party often uses the division of Czechoslovakia as a reference. Even though VB has a constantly growing base of supporters, the traditional parties refuse to accept it into a dialogue or share the ruling of the country with it. Paradoxically, this can turn out to be a helpful act for VB, as it might turn the party into a sort of a martyr in the eyes of the public. More than that, those who voted for VB, might become angry, because the party they voted for cannot officially take part in ruling the country. Thus, VB is gaining more and more popularity among general people, mostly because of their...

Spatial aspects and their impact on social life on Strahov campus
Pflegerová, Nikola ; Tuček, Milan (advisor) ; Pašková, Miroslava (referee)
The main topic of this bachelor thesis deals with the issues of individuals and spatial aspects in general and uses the Strahov dormitory as an example. The text is composed of two parts, theoretical and practical. The first part is based on theoretical architectural determinism with an emphasis on interactionist theory and tries to characterize concepts related to space and spatial behavior, which may, to some extent, positively or negatively influence the behavior in general. This work also focuses on social function of buildings and the influence of the quality of space on the amount of social interaction and social life. This thesis also addresses the issues of living on university campuses - its temporary nature, sharing space with unfamiliar people and limited set of free choices. I applied the information from the theoretical part of this text on the case study of Strahov dormitory. I learned about serious lack of quality of that area, such as bad climate and operating conditions. On the other hand, I witnessed the effort made by students themselves, who are not satisfied by the conditions in which they live and try to make them better. Thanks to their initiative, new social spaces are made and the quality of the dormitory gets better.

R Muralidharan, Gayathri Devi ; Šumníková, Pavlína (advisor) ; Komorná, Marie (referee)
The involvement of parents at home and in school is a crucial factor in the development of child with autism. This qualitative study explored the similarities and difference between the perceptions of Malaysian parents on parental involvement. The selected participants are parents of children with autism, and are currently enrolled either in a primary government or private school. The present study used semi-structured interviews to examine the participants' views on parental involvement. A thematic analysis was used to interpret the interview findings. The study showed that parents have similar definitions of parental involvement. However, it was also revealed that parents engaged in different types of parental involvement such as decision-making, collaboration with the community and learning-at-home. The parents also shared their views on the barriers to parental involvement including: lack of parent resources, financial constraints, poor education system and the lack of skilled special education teachers. The parents also shared their concerns about the children's ability to live independently in the future. However, the research showed that more than the type of school (government or private), the severity of the child's condition influenced the degree of parental involvement. The study also...

Islam and the new media
Kouřilová, Iveta ; Kropáček, Luboš (advisor) ; Mendel, Miloš (referee) ; Kovács, Attila (referee)
Recent years ha ve witnessed an erosion of the traditional boundaries that separate the cuzama' from popular religious figures, activists, and intellectuals. The satellite Islamic television channels like Iqra' and al-Resala ha ve in a way become laboratory in which a new form of Islam has emerged and evolved. The channels are bound to compete for market share. In order to make the programming attractive to millions of viewers, the direction and style of Islamic discourse is being changed. The result is that the "dialogue" about religion in society is now characterized by a much wider range of perspectives which extend well beyond those of respectable and leamed cuzama'. The cuzama' have by no means disappeared from the stage. But next to them, and in close competition with them, other actors ha ve emerged. Instead of drawing on traditional channels of learning and power, their authority is rooted in charisma, youthfullooks, approachability and charm- in other words, their communication skills and ability to be identified with, rather than merely looked up to in awe.
