Bibliographic record PROKOP, Daniel. (2012). Election polls in the Czech Republic: Methodological Optimization. Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Social Sciences, Institut of Sociological Studies. Thesis academic consultant: Mgr. Jindřich Krejčí, Ph.D. Abstract The thesis focuses on the election-polls and prediction of election results in the Czech Republic. Using data of research company MEDIAN s.r.o. from face-to-face (CAPI) and telephone interviewing (CATI) in election year 2010 it examines possibilities of methodological optimizations which could lead to reducing systematic bias and discrepancies of pre-election polls the election results. In particular, it discusses these methodological solutions: mix-mode data collection (combination of CATI and CAPI), data weighting focused on specific factors correlated with voting behavior, including preferences of undecided voters, prediction of the respondents' participation in elections, election-polls results time-series smoothing. Based on these analyses the thesis tries to articulate general findings which could be fruitful in discussion about Czech election-polls and their methodology in general. In the thesis, basic and advanced statistic methods (CART, exponential smoothing, etc.) are being used to achieve given research goals. Keywords: election...

Community Centre Roškovce
Lvová, Andrea ; Dočkal, Jan (advisor) ; Pospíšil, Milan (referee)
This thesis deals with the problems associated with the relationship between Romany socially excluded localities and the majority in Slovakia. It shows how the Community Centre Roškovce manages to improve the situation in the village. The author's view is not only a view of a social worker, because the author of this thesis studies the Romistic (Romany studies) at Faculty of Philosophy and Arts, Charles University at the same time. She used the knowledge in Romany language and Romany culture; she collected data during observation. Two of the Centre's goals are: 1. to provide services to the whole community in Roškovce, and 2. improving the relationship between the Romany community in Roškovce and the Slovak majority in the neighbourhood. This thesis evaluates how does the Centre succeed in these goals two years after its opening. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Magnetic Resonance and its Electromagnetic Essence
MOLÁKOVÁ, Markéta
This fact is reflected in the aims of the thesis, which lie in using the Curricular Process Theory and the already researched quantum dimension of magnetic resonance for defining the electromagnetic foundation of magnetic resonance in such a form that would be suitable for students of "Radiology assistant" and other related programs. Considering the set aims and the use of applied quantitative research, the thesis presents the following hypotheses: 1) It is possible to create an educational text for students of "Radiology assistant" and related study programs by applying the Curricular Process Theory. 2) The distribution of respondents' knowledge will have a theoretical distribution similar to the normal distribution. First, it was necessary to analyse the current state of research on the subject of "Electromagnetic foundation of magnetic resonance for radiology assistants" based on the Curricular Process Theory. The present study examines the Electromagnetic Field Theory, especially the description and deduction of Maxwell's four equations for electromagnetic field, defines mathematical operators needed for describing Maxwell's equations, describes the causes of changes in electric and magnetic fields (wells and vortices), and also mathematically proves that the electromagnetic field spreads in the air a s a wave. Then, it was needed to adjust the form of these physical facts to students of "Radiology assistant" and other related study programs. It resulted in creating a simple educational text (see Appendix 1), whose suitability for the educational target group was verified by a statistical evaluation. Consequently, the first hypothesis that it is possible to create an educational text for students of "Radiology assistant" and related study programs by applying the Curricular Process Theory was confirmed. The functionality of the educational text was verified by an experimental seminar. The seminar was organised for the students of "Radiology assistant" study program at The Faculty of Health and Social Sciences at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice and it was accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation. The students who did not participate in the seminar were sent the educational text (and test) in the electronic form. In order to verify the knowledge gained during the experimental seminar and from the educational text, the defined electromagnetic foundation (educational text) was reflected in a test with 13 questions with four alternative options for each there was only one correct option for each question. The test was taken by respondents and the results were statistically evaluated. The type of research used in the thesis is applied quantitative research. The verification of the hypotheses was based on the use of appropriate methods of descriptive and mathematical statistics as well as the use of non-parametric testing, the so called Pearson Chi-Square test (Goodness of Fit). On the whole, 35 tests were processed. Empirical frequency distributions obtained by scoring the tests were matched with the so called Gaussian distribution. Thanks to the use of non-parametric testing, it was possible to confirm the second hypothesis that the distribution of respondents' knowledge will have a theoretical distribution similar to the normal distribution. Therefore, the statistical evaluation confirmed that the educational text is suitable for the needs and possibilities of the respondents and their knowledge distribution is close to the normal distribution. The acquired results show that the knowledge of the respondents was in agreement with the expected assumption of the normal distribution.

Bibliographic citation POLYÁK, Oliver (2012). The impact of Euro Adoption on Competitiveness: The comparison of Czech Republic and Slovakia. Prague, 2012. 71 p. Master thesis (Mgr.) Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Social Sciences, Institute of Economic Studies. Master thesis supervisor prof. Ing. Oldřich Dědek, CSc. Abstract The present master's thesis is focused on the impact of introducing the common European currency on competitiveness of a country. There has been a lot written about the possible effects of euro adoption on economies of the first eurozone participants. The contribution of this thesis is that we explore the impact of euro introduction on competitiveness of Slovakia, in comparison to the Czech Republic which still uses its own national currency. Our findings suggest that most of the analyzed competitiveness indicators evolved largely in parallel in both countries. Positive trade effects brought about by the introduction of the euro are rather moderate - up to 5%. Slovak credit development was more favorable during the crisis, reflecting lower interest rates in eurozone. On the other hand, high contributions to European stabilization funds may hamper Slovak economic growth and negatively influence country's competitiveness in future. Camorra as a parallel system of the Italian state
Zima, Vojtěch ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Jiroudková, Adéla (referee)
This thesis deals with the history and evolution of the phenomenon of the Camorra in one of the southern Italian regions - Campania. Camorra originated as a result of appalling social conditions in the south of Italy before its unification. The former ruling system in Naples neighborhood was inefficient and distant for the general population. In contrast, the Camorra everyday system responded immediately and was efficient, fast and productive. Before the constitution of the modern Italian state in 1861, Camorra had already more than half a century of history and activities, and was firmly established itself in the society of Campania. From 1819, when the first written note about Camorra appeared till the first decade of the 21st century it has undergone a complicated and interesting development and changes. During this period, there were several transformations in the functioning of its system. From the initial racketeering and small crime the Camorra's system was transformed into the highly organized companies, whose representatives can be well established members of the highest levels of the Italian society. The thesis also describes how the Camorra's social security ensures its members. From the point of view of Camorra's members their system never fails on the contrary to the official state...

The Positivism Dispute in German Sociology. The development, main ideas and continuation
Vondráková, Renáta ; Balon, Jan (advisor) ; Petrusek, Miloslav (referee)
Diplomová práce Spor o pozitivismus v německé sociologii. Renáta Vondráková. 2012. Abstract The main theme of the work is the issue of positivism dispute, which is commonly referred to discussions that occurred in German sociology in the sixties. It was a debate between advocates of critical theory, which were Theodor W. Adorno and Jürgen Habermas, and the concept of critical rationalism of Karl R. Popper and Hans Albert. The discussion initially was confined to issues related to the logic of the social sciences, for many reasons, but rather applied to differences between the concepts and challenges of science from the perspective of both the above approaches. Also the description and discovery purposes and contexts that led to the overturning topic discussion are devoted to this work. The aim is to describe the external influences as widely as possible and how it affected the final understanding of the dispute, but also how well the positivism dispute turned the concepts of science in the following period. The first part is concerned with social and historical situation in which the dispute arose. Followed by an outline of key terms that in connection with a dispute likely occur, in fact it is the analysis of major issues. Emphasis is placed on a thorough description of the first two contributions to the...
