Štětovská, Iva ; Gillernová, Ilona (advisor) ; Vališová, Alena (referee) ; Dobrovská, Dana (referee)
The thesis introduces a rather unusual continual discussion concerning the context of social changes and their impact on school life, pre-gradual preparation, and professional achievement of teachers. The text surveys the connectedness between recent social changes and the development of professional institutions, especially schools. The author considers gradual weakening of primarily educational function of schools and their shift of social responsibility toward educative and socializing commitments. As a consequence of such changes special attention is paid to current teachers' position and modifications of their professional activities. The author attempts to state new teachers' competences and highlights of their work. She asks what new demands can be observed in the course of teachers' professional preparation. Regarding the key position of relationships at current schools, the text focuses on communication patterns at school, which are fulfilled via relationships. The author discusses social support problems in details as they represent a crucial factor of teachers' work. The text introduces various approaches to a safe feedback to teachers. Category of gender in Czech language used by the Czech deaf
Wagnerová, Jana ; Macurová, Alena (advisor) ; Okrouhlíková, Lenka (referee)
The main topic of the diploma thesis is the problem of nominal gender in written Czech language used by the Czech deaf. At the beginning the author focuses on the contrasts of the nominal gender usage in the Czech language and in the Czech Sign Language. In the Czech Sign Language the gramatical category of the nominal gender does not exist. The author also compares the processing of the nominal gender problems in three types of textbooks: in textbooks of the Czech language for primary schools (for the hearing population), for the deaf and for the foreigners learning the Czech language. The most convenient for the deaf are the books elaborated on the similar principle as the textbooks for the foreigners and the CD-ROMs containing the Czech Sign Language. The next part of the diploma thesis is dedicated to the questionnaires analysis. The questionnaires are focused on the nominal gender knowledge and on the creating of the correct forms of gender endings of the adjectives, pronouns, numerals and verbs in connection with the nouns; some questions were for an informative purpose focused also on inflection. The questionnaires were filled in by hearing informants aged from 11 to 12 and the deaf adult informants. The hearing informants (1,4 % wrong) were more successful in the questionnaires than the deaf (28,9 %...

Recent developments of the Czech lexicon, notably in economic terminology
Nowak, Filip ; Čermák, František (advisor) ; Holub, Jan (referee)
Economics is ranked among the most popular sciences of Today. It is not only the experts who consider economics; non-professional economists do it as well. Economy influences our daily lives and we have a major piece on its development and on the language that describe it. This situation causes the occurrence of some anomalies among economic terms, tendency to use unusual linguistic means on purpose to catch reader's attention or because of natural motivation of well-known matters lying beyond the economic field. This diploma thesis tries to highlight some of those phenomenons. The research takes its stand on the technical economic studies data from the electronic database of Czech National Corpus (Český národní korpus), which allows to determine their frequency as well. The attention is paid mainly to the most typical model in Czech terminology: adjective - noun, noun - adjective, where in addition to semantic, functional classification and frequency, the metaphoric and metonymic motivation or their pragmatic sides are delimitated. There is an effort to classify the metaphoric and metonymic collocations that occurred in the random text sample into semantic categories. Naturally, there is an outline of terminology and metaphors matters as well. The quantitative results are attached in the tables related to...

Problems of Czech morphology in selected handbooks
Prohorenco, Dmitrii ; Hrdlička, Milan (advisor) ; Holub, Jan (referee)
Czech language is inflective, that is one ending/suffix cumulates many categories. Many words (especially nouns, verbs and adjectives) have many forms. There are seven cases, fourteen basic types for nouns, five verb conjugation classes, ten parts of speech in czech. Verbs have categories of voice, aspect, person and tense. Nouns have gramatic categories of number, case and gender. There is a variety of irregularities, dual forms etc. in czech. Czech orthography is complicated when compared to croatian or finish, but is relatively simple when compared to french or english. One can say that czech orthography is phonological, but it takes into consideration also morphology and etymology. Czech is spoken primarily in Czech republic. There are some czech minorities in Australia, Argentina, Romania and USA. Czech is quite popular for foreigners to study, also it is spoken only by aproximately 12 mln. of people. The czech word order is different from the word order of english or french, that is relatively restrictive. The czech word order is on the other hand relatively free. Often all the permutations of words in a clause are possible. The concept of czech word order introduced Vilem Mathesius - the co-founder of Prague Linguistic Circle. Usually there exists the basic word order. Observing discourse patterns,...

Cultural diversity and Taoism
Bártík, Robert ; Matějů, Martin (referee) ; Ortová, Jitka (advisor)
The presented study focuses on themes related to the problem of cultural diversity and plurality. The fact that every culture that developed over the course of history lives in the horizon of a completely specific world (a horizon and a context of appearance) implies the question of whether different cultures can mutually understand each other (which is related to the opportunities for mutual translatability of each other's languages and the structures) as well as questions related to the universality of a certain understanding of reality and it's dominant position as a worldview, which is spontaneously demanded by the scientific/technical paradigm of the Euro-Atlantic civilizational range. Today, this problem is reflected from various different positions. From the perspective of ecological crisis, we find it in conceptions of lasting maintainability; from perspective of philosophical reflection, we find it in the project of intercultural philosophy. For a concrete "demonstration" of cultural diversity and plurality, we opted to use the philosophical/religious system of Taoism because we thought that it was "different" enough to be a representative perspective for this study.
