Theatre decoration? Set design? Scenography?
Vöröšová, Markéta ; KOUBSKÁ, Vlasta (advisor) ; CÍSAŘ, Jan (referee)
This thesis focuses on and compares the theoretical perception of scenography in the works of Czech aestheticians Otakar Zich and Růžena Vacková. The whole comparison is integrated into the context of Czech modern scenography. Several key productions were chosen to demonstrate new tendencies that appeared at the specified time point in our theatre history. The thesis mentions theatre authors together with their works that played important role in forming Zich?s and Vacková?s opinions and theatre conceptions. Taking into account how versatile personalities Otakar Zich and Růžena Vacková were it was necessary to bring up all areas of their activities. I attempted to summarize their professional careers and their influence on followers and I also wanted not to omit their life?s history . I deal with the importance of Zich´s key work Estetika dramatického umění and I also focused on personality of Vacková and the circumstances of the creation of Výtvarný projev v dramatickém umění. It is a compilation work in which I try to present two approaches to the visual component of theatre performances. I compare their terminology used. I try to describe some aspects of scenography which Vacková developed under the influence of her predecessor and teacher and also the aspects that she was not in accordance with. Further, I focus on the problems of the possible forms of set design, connection between scenography and painting or architecture, and also on how the authors conceived the ideal scene, on whether they attached greater or lesser importance to stage directions and also on the problems of light, costumes, masks, stage objects? This thesis should be perceived as a mere starting point for further in-depth exploration. There is a possibility to go deeper into details and/or extend the view so as to cover also other representatives of the Czech theatre theory with their scenography conceptions. I hope that, in the future, I will be able to continue working on this topic and to cover the history of Czech set desing theory in its integrity up to present days.

During the 70's of the 20th century four major events bring MPLA on the verge of liberation process. On the eastern front, at the beginning of the seventies, there was an uprising in the MPLA army against the central leadership. Later, Daniel Chipenda, a member of the MPLA Steering Committee, took the lead of the rebellion. In terms of leadership in MPLA, this was the first major collapse between the Steering Committee and the MPLA social and rural bases. Right after took place another revolt, which was called Active Revolt, in May 1974 in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo where MPLA had its headquarters. It was carried out by mostly intellectual dissidents, but it brought structural catastrophic consequences for MPLA, when the 25th April 1974 in Portugal played a coup...

The American Foreign Policy with the Middle East : from the earliest days to the Obama’s mandate
Petraud, Jean-Félix ; Eichler, Jan (advisor) ; Dubský, Zbyněk (referee)
The following dissertation is an attempt of analysis and understanding of the foreign policy of the United States in the Middle East region and its evolution through time. Considering the fact that the Middle East region is or at least used to be a vital region for the United States national interests, the dissertation presents an exhaustive list of major events that have been major shifts in the US foreign policy in the region. The more or less chronological timeline allows the reader to have a better understanding of the evolution of the US foreign policy. The result of the dissertation is the identification of different patterns of foreign policy and to put the spot on the reasons of the changes of these patterns. Nevertheless, the history of the Middle East region and the incredible number of major events through the 2Oth century and the early 21st century make impossible to deal with all of them. Moreover, analysis and comments are based on academic research, but the dissertation remains subjective and may lead to discussions and debates.

Jesus in the Koran; with Regards to Islamic As Well As Christian Traditions and the Person of Virgin Mary
Hemala, Jan ; Jandejsek, Petr (advisor) ; Lyčka, Milan (referee)
Different perception of the person of Jesus Christ remains to be among the most frequent and challenging questions of the dialogue between Christianity and Islam. Intention of this work is therefore to introduce at least basic elements of qur'ānic christology, i. e. the peculiar "word" of the Qur'ān about identity and mission of Jesus. It follows the fascinating process by which one religious tradition or culture adopted and assimilated the towering figure of another tradition and embraced it in its own conceptions of history of prophecy and of revelation from God. It further compares controversial attitudes of the Qur'ān (and let us say of Islam generally), such as refutation of Christian dogmas of the divinity of Jesus or the Holy Trinity, with creeds and statements of Christian christology; it devotes special attention to the person and story of Virgin Mary either. Within its explanation the work attempts to search out eventual origins or sources of the specific Islamic appreciation of Jesus, especially in Christian, canonical or apocryphal traditions. To emphasize the significance which is attributed to the mission of Jesus by Islamic orthodoxy and ordinary believers the essay refers also to the perspectives and narrations of later Islamic tradition which embellishes and elaborates qur'ānic indications...

Early Baroque Altars in Prague
Kolář, Jan ; Zlatohlávek, Martin (advisor) ; Horyna, Mojmír (referee)
ENGLISH ANNOTATION This paper discusses Prague altars that were crafted in the years of early-baroque between 1620 and 1680. It contains a brief outline of the historical period during which - in relation to counter-reformation and recatholization after the defeat of the Estate uprising in 1620 - baroque style had been fully accepted in Czech lands. The church, supported by the state, had made it its goal to restore catholicism in Czech lands and for this purpose it also used the means of arts. The baroque church combined all kinds of arts in its complexity. The main attention of its builders was paid to altar constructions, most often wooden ones. This paper then analyzes the history and typology of the altar and its components - the altar table, the retabulum (altar leg) and the tabernacle (sanctuary). The overall development of early-baroque altars dated from late-renaissaince mannerism to the beginning of top-baroque is discussed, together with the metamorphosis of the altars' architectural concepts, the artistic perfection of the altars and of their decorative elements. Both preserved and some non-preserved altar constructions located in Prague (in the area of Hradčany, Lesser Town, Old Town and New Town) are listed and described in this paper. Furthermore, an account is given of the artists...

Aesthetics of Arts
Garila, Athina ; Hogenová, Anna (advisor) ; Blecha, Zbyněk (referee)
This Bachelor work has no intention to analysis the History of art, either to explain the terminology of philosophy thru time; Great Masters did this before and compare with them will be completely useless. The purpose of this work is to prove that aesthetics there for arts, are extremely important in our days not only because art domesticates the ferocious beast (humans included), but also because aesthetics is ethics. In order of course to understand this association between this triangle aesthetics-art-ethics, a short historical preview is necessary as well as the explanation of main terminology is require; At the end however when we see our course as human kind from the beginning until now a question will be born; did we failure, did the modern time pays the price of our ancestors or our own? And if our time is actually the worst of all times can this failure be reverse? And how can this and the next generations do something to change the course of history since the luck of ethics is more than obvious in every corner of our world? This work will give the facts and at the end will show reality in a cruel and row way; but the answers for all this question is still yours...
