Balcarová, Kateřina ; Kytnarová, Jitka (advisor) ; Frühauf, Pavel (referee)
This master's thesis investigates the incidence of obesity in young school-age children, in two groups aged 6-8 and 10-12 years. Firstly, it summarises the current state of literature about obesity in children, secondly, the young school-age children are characterised and thirdly, it informs about healthy lifestyle in primary school lessons. The aim of this study is to determine the incidence of obesity in young school-age children, to assess their eating and exercise habits and to find out if they are guided towards a healthy lifestyle during lessons. The test group included 214 participants (132 girls and 82 boys). Data collection was divided into two parts: the first part included anthropometric measurements (height, weight and waist circumference) and the second part questioned children's eating and exercise habits by a survey. The results show a lower incidence of obesity in the examined group compared to the literature. However, a higher incidence of obesity in older children corresponds with existing literature. Regularity of having breakfast and consuming sweet drinks was significantly connected to the BMI Z-score value. Conversely, the association of BMI Z-score value with the distribution of physical exercise lessons (PE classes) per week was not significant. Education including healthy lifestyle...
School on the move
Benešová, Pavla ; Kuhnová, Věra (advisor) ; Pokorný, Ladislav (referee)
The thesis examines physical activities in a primary school both inside and outside of the classroom. In several randomly selected schools, I watched how many hours a day the pupils spend time moving while learning and taking breaks. Research has shown that pupils keep the activity at a minimum in school, mostly only to scheduled moves. My endeavour was to propose ways to enrich the school day by physical activity. Based on this finding, in a selected school, I conducted an experiment that was supposed to bring more physical activity into classes and during school breaks. Whether the active time spent in the school environment managed to increase through the new proposition, shows the results of the experiment. Part of this work are practical ideas for implementation of physical activities into the classroom, and tips for classrooms and school corridors equipment.

Pinkasová, Lenka ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Hošková, Blanka (referee)
Title: Assessment of motor performance and body holding in young school-age children Objectives: The aim of this thesis is the assessment of motor performance, body holding and basic information concerning movement activity in young school-age children and to reveal any possible interrelations between these data. Hypothesis: 1. The volume of movement load in young school-age children affects their motor performance and body holding. 2. Motor performance evaluated by a modification of the UNIFITTEST has a significant correlation with body holding in young school age children. Methods: In order to determine the level of motor performance of the children, I used a modification of the UNIFITTEST (Měkota et al., 2002), while I also evaluated their basic somatic parameters. Their body holding was evaluated according to Mathias (Hošková and Matoušová 2007), Jaroš and Lomníček (Hošková and Matoušová 2007) and Adams's Test (Haladová and Nechvátalová 2005). Information about the frequency of the children's sports activities and their lifestyle, I collected with the form of a short survey. The research group consists of 19 boys and 11 girls with an average age of 9 years old (age range 8-11 years - by 1.1.2018), mean body height of 1.4 m (σ=8,2 cm) and mean body weight of 36.5 kg (σ=9,1 kg). This increasing problem with obesity shoud not be taken lightly, because it has negative effects on overall health of society. The main objectives of bachelor work called "Nutrition of obese young school-age children" was comparing nutrition habits of children before and after visiting with nutrition specialist. Comparison effect of diet when taken seriously, and how parents contribute in problem of children obesity. Work consists of two parts, theoretical and practical. Theoretical part shows basic principles of how to determine the quality of nutrition for children. Nutrition quality with younger school aged children, with daily nutrition schedule and information about children obesity and how to treat it. Practical part was done by qualitative research. Research was done by using dietary records of pediatric patients and interviewing patients and one or both of the parents. Research was done on four obese patients, who was selected based on their graphs. Patients had visited the nutrition specialist twice, so in research are incudet data from each visit with the therapist. From the results, it is obvious that most of obese patients have at least one obese parent. The main problem comes from parents, because they have bad nutrition and exercise habits. Another important finding is that obesity is not caused by higher energy intake, but by choosing bad food and drinks.
