Wisdom and well-being
Šebestová, Tereza Eva ; Topková, Petra (advisor) ; High, Radka (referee)
This bachelor's thesis examines two psychological concepts, which are wisdom and well- being. One of the aims of the thesis was to adapt Jeffrey Webster's Self-Assessed Wisdom Scale to the Czech environment and to pilot it. The second aim was to test whether there is a relationship between wisdom and wellbeing. A total of 184 respondents between the ages of 18 and 79 participated in the study. Wisdom was measured using the Self-Assessed Wisdom Scale, which consists of five subscales - these are critical life experiences, emotional regulation, reminiscence and reflection, humour, and openness. The Satisfaction with Life Scale was used to measure subjective well-being and the Flourishing Scale was used to measure psychological well-being. The Self-Assessed Wisdom Scale had high reliability in the Czech population. The factor structure of the wisdom questionnaire was validated using principal components analysis, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. It turned out that the structure did not correspond to the expected five dimensions, so it was recommended to modify the items and to test them further on a new research sample. The Czech research sample scored the highest on the humour dimension and the openness dimension proved to be the weakest overall. In terms of well-being, our sample was...
Revitalization Program of Floral Garden in Kromeriz
Kuběnová, Veronika ; Šupler, Libor (referee) ; Jura, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of the project is to create a visitors' centre for the Flower Garden in Kroměříž. The building is situated in Holland and Orange Gardens that are not being used at the moment. The overall concept of the proposal reacts to a historic trace of a renaissance-baroque garden. The shape of the building divides the given territory into two proportionally more pleasant areas, creates facilites for visitors of the garden, provides places for educational activites in an auditorium for exhibitons and lectures and offers relaxation in a café. At the same time, the building detracts nothing from the graden's green stay areas, but provides them on its grassy roof. The flashing point is an observatory place at the very end of the roof, from where there is a view of the Flower Garden from height that enables visitor to grasp a valuable heritage of 17th century garden art. A new functional settlement of the entrance building with a ticket office and an information centre on the ground floor and a flat for the administrator of the garden on the first floor is a part of the project. The southern part of the given territory is projected for the purpose of a garden shop and as a green stay area with a rabbit hill and a baroque volary.

Bauerová, Lucie ; Topková, Petra (advisor) ; Pánková, Barbora (referee)
This thesis focuses on implicit theories of wisdom, primarily in the context of the Czech working environment. The goal was to qualitatively verify whether there are differences in the concept of wisdom among people in different career fields, specifically among people in the helping sphere and those in the marketing sphere. For these needs, an online questionnaire with open-ended questions was developed, asking about the definition of wisdom, the characteristics of a wise person, examples of wise people, and a specific experience with wisdom. The questionnaire collected a total of 25 relevant responses, which were then assessed using the thematic analysis. Three themes were determined for evaluation based on Monika Ardelt's three-dimensional model of wisdom - the cognitive, reflective, and affective dimensions. The definitions of respondents from both spheres were further assessed concerning the importance of mentioned characteristics in their career field. Equally were analysed concrete situations and names mentioned in respondents' answers. The results indicate that although the individual dimensions often overlapped or partially complemented each other, people from the helping professions mentioned the affective component of wisdom much more often. Respondents from business fields considered...
