The campaign of political parties for regional elections in 2016

This thesis is dedicated to political campaigns in Central Bohemian Region and Liberec Region during regional elections what took place 7th and 8th of October 2016. Both of these regions were chosen as a sample which represents both nationwide parties but also local parties. The author processed vast amount of data, what was lately analyzed and compared. For the research was used content analysis, which enables to code clearly the entering data. Among the examined data were the election formations' election programs, candidate lists (respectively, the amount of local candidates within those candidate lists), election formations' propagation on the social medium Facebook, and a usage of a printed media during the campaign (respectively, how successful was the campaign communication and how different election formations used advertising). This diploma thesis is primarily based on second-order elections. Based on relevant literature were identified several contact points within the campaigns characteristic for this kind of elections. Thanks to a number of research questions, this diploma thesis answers the main aim, which is, if those election formations approached those elections as the second-order elections.
Analysis of the 2016 regional election campaign of Freedom and Direct Democracy

This bachelor thesis analyses the election campaign of Freedom and Direct Democracy for the 2016 regional election in terms of content of its themes. The aim of the thesis is to determine to what extent the election campaign of Freedom and Direct Democracy for the regional election in 2016 included national themes. In terms of methodology, this is a content analysis. The work is based on the characteristic of the election campaign of the second-order election theory. The first part of this thesis attends to the theoretical definition of second-order elections with an emphasis on election campaign. Furthermore, the thesis deals with regional competencies and the presentation of the political movement Freedom and Direct Democracy. The second part of this thesis attends to the analysis of election campaign itself. This section includes an election program, an expressions of representatives of Freedom and Direct Democracy, or promotional materials of the election campaign.
The Application of the Theory of Second Order Elections over the Elections at the Local Level

This article aims to analyse the theory of second order elections and its application in elections at the local level, both generally and specifically in the Czech Republic. At first it presents the theory of second order elections and the possibilities of its application. It also talks about the progress of the electoral system at local level, the impact of its revisions on outcomes of election and the position of political parties in elections at local level. Then it focuses on the testing of the theory of second order elections for local elections in the Czech Republic in 2002 and 2006. Generally it evaluates the results of these local elections and compares the theoretical preconditions with the outcomes. Negative campaigning in 2020 Czech senate elections. Jan Grois case study

This bachelor thesis focuses on the issue of negative campaigns in the Senate elections in the Czech Republic. In the theoretical part, the author describes the basic concepts of political communication, political marketing, and negative election campaigns. In the following section, the goal was to describe the specifics of senate elections in general and at the level of the Czech Republic. The methodological part describes case studies and why it has been used. The author used a questionnaire survey to collect the data. The next part of the thesis defines the main research and secondary research question, which aims to explain the unsuccessful campaign. The exploratory part is devoted to the description of the constituency from sociodemographic data. It then describes the main program priorities of the candidates. Special attention is then paid to the campaign of Jan Grois, the candidate who used the practices of this campaign before the second round. In the last part, the author analyzes the data from the questionnaire survey and answers research questions. The research shows that the negative campaign did not meet its expectations and turned against Jan Grois himself.
The European Parliament 2019 Elections Online Campaign of Czech Political Actors

In the thesis we are going to focus on the topic of on-line political communication of 8 czech ballot leaders on the social network service Facebook during the 2019 European Parliament election campaign. On-line campaign is essential tool to gain the favor of the electorate in the 4th age of political communication. In long term perspective the European Parliament elections are suffering from the low interest of the electorate and from the trend of decreasing tournout in both pan-European and Czech political arenas. Our research is based on the theoretical concepts about main functions of on-line campaign in the 4th age of political communication. The mobilization of the electorate towards political participation is one of those functions. Next we base our research on the second order elections theory of Karlheinz Reif and Hermann Schmitt. The European Parliament elections are characterised by predominance of topics important to the local political system and by substituting as a referendum about the government of a member country. Analysis of the Free Citizens Party Election Campaign for the European Election 2014

The main subject of this thesis is the analysis of the electoral campaign of the Free Citizens Party for the elections to the European Parliament in 2014, taking into account all aspects of this specific type of election and also the electoral market on which the campaign was implemented. The thesis describes theory of electoral campaigns and defines the relevant socio-political context. In the practical part, it illustrates how the campaign adapted to the market and examines the campaign's use of "second-order election" parameters. Based on this investigation, it is then possible to evaluate party's electoral success. The secondary aim of the thesis is to implement the subject of Euroscepticism, as a political view, into the ideology and campaign of the Free Citizens' Party.

Application of Second- order election on elections in the Czech Republic

The aim of the thesis Applications of The Theory of Second-Order Elections to Elections in the Czech Republic is to answer the research question, whether is the theory fulfilled in the Czech Republic, through various hypotheses. The introduction introduces the intention of my research. The theoretical part deals with the original Theory of Second-order elections, which was introduced already in 1980 by authors Karlheinz Reif and Hermann Schmitt. During the next electoral cycles, the Theory of Second-order elections was more refined and reflected by other theoreticians, whose contribution is a source of inspiration for my theoretical part. Another major chapter presents the methodology and research design. This chapter defines hypotheses. The Thesis is trying to prove, or disprove the following hypotheses. Electoral participation in the case of Second-order elections is lower than in the case of the First-order elections. The Second-order elections tend to punish ruling parties. Political parties that currently govern, gets in case of Second-order elections less votes. Governmental parties lose the most electoral support in the middle of their term and it turns out the influence of the electoral cycle.
