Tkačenko, Jekatěrina ; Moravec, Václav (advisor) ; Lokšík, Martin (referee)
This bachelor's work compares typology and use of news television genres in Czech and Russian broadcasting using the comparative analysis. Two programs were analyzed, Udalosti of Czech Television 1 and Vremya of Russian Channel One, both of which are the main news broadcasts of those channels. The aim was to compare the setting, in which news television genres have formed. First in theory, that includes for example historic and normative base of television broadcasting in particular countries, which was afterwards verified in practice. Two broadcasting days in May were chosen and analyzed. The result is comprehensive comparative exposition of the form of television broadcasting in Czech Republic and Russian federation. Afterwards there is also a comparison of two particular news programs, their form and use of news genres. In the end the author expresses several recommendations for creators of Udalosti and Vremya, which could be beneficial for each of them.
Programme Offer Development of TV Channels Nova and Prima in Years 2001-2011 Focused on Their Own Production
Slavíková, Klára ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Jirák, Jan (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the development of TV listings of major Czech commercial channels, TV Nova and TV Prima, during 2002 - 2012. It focuses solely on their own production and covers the shift in aired genres, which has changed from the earlier variety shows and quiz shows to reality shows and soap operas that run the listings nowadays. Most TV production is based on so-called reality TV; there the emphasis is on capturing reality in a way, which is attractive for viewers and goes across many genres and styles. Consequently, the line between genres is becoming very thin and is no longer determining. The approaches these two channels took to structuring their TV listings are also very important since each had its own specific way. This thesis draws on theoretical grounds and covers important mechanisms affecting TV in the Czech Republic in three basic areas (global, technological and economic). It points out that globalization has brought about homogenized culture and international integration, which means many programmes are of foreign license. Moreover, we can see the trend of internetisation and convergence of TV content, which is increasingly influenced by modern technologies. The purpose of all this is high ratings that affect profits from advertising. And economic profit is for...
Entertainment programmes in Czech television with an emphasis on public television.
Hirsch, Cyril ; MYSLÍK, Václav (advisor) ; SVOBODA, Otakar (referee)
Entertainment has been one of the major genres throughout the history of television, which has served an entertainment function from its very beginning. With the arrival of the dual broadcasting system, the genre became controversial in the context of public service to citizens. The thesis discusses the evolution of entertainment programmes in Czech television, placing an emphasis on Česká televize (Czech Television), the public TV. The thesis provides a comprehensive picture of the genre, putting it in the context of the historical development of Česká televize and, later, the arrival of commercial broadcasters in the Czech Republic. It discusses the development of TV entertainment formats in terms of programming, as well as the possibilities and types of programme production. Yet the most important part is the comparison of private broadcasters' and the public institution's approach to the entertainment genre, which, by definition, tends to be rather commercial in its concept.
Home Cooking on TV
Adámková, Tereza ; BENDOVÁ, Helena (advisor) ; REIFOVÁ, Irena (referee)
In this thesis, I am doing the cultural analysis of culinary programs on home cooking. Specifically, the Czech programs Dita P. Diary, Carolina, The Home Cook, When Dad Cooks, Boys in Action and Cheap and Tasty with Lada Hruska. At the same time this work briefly presents the context of British culinary programs. The aim is to deduce what values the Czech programs can transmit to viewers. Inspiration in this respect draws upon cultural texts dealing with food / tv studies mentioned in the introductory part of the thesis. In the last part of the thesis it occurs that a particular aspect of the programs is too broadly defined. As a result only very general characteristics of values presented in the analysed programs could be deduced.

Docudrama on Czechoslovak television in seventies and eighties
Kohoutová, Rozálie ; ŠERÝ, Ladislav (advisor) ; KUBICA, Petr (referee)
My diploma thesis explores how the docudrama genre was used by the communistic propaganda during the period of so called normalization. I describe the role of Czechoslovak television during the Prague spring and it?s ensuing importance for the regime after the year 1968. I explore three TV series from formalistic, manipulative and historic point of view: Třicet případů majora Zemana (Thirty Causes of Major Zeman) Gottwald Povstalecká historie (Uprising History) I focus on the relationship between historical facts and the docudrama genre and in the last chapter I come to conclusion how the TV may influence perception of history and creates itself new mythology.
