Saint Zdislava of Lemberk and Saint Elizabeth of Hungary

The work presents the life of both saints Zdislava and Elizabeth of Thuringia, and also the external context, which largely affected their lives. Saints are described here in their wide range, both through our history and the history of European nations. The structure's work corresponds to a defined plan. The first chapter deals with the contemporary background and major events that occurred just before their birth and their lives. The following two chapters depict Zdislava own and Elizabeth's life, their work. The next chapter describes the work of saints in the social field. The fifth chapter is devoted to a comparison of the two saints with Saint Agnes. The last chapter contains evaluation figures Zdislava and Elizabeth of Thuringia and their significance for today. The concept of the work is based on the conviction that the stereotypes describing the lives of the saints can be overcame. The author seeks a new perspective on the work and life of both saints - Zdislava and Elisabeth. Our Lady, Trinity and Saints' Columns in Hradec Králové and Rychnov Regions

My diploma thesis deals with a question of when and where it is possible to seek for origins of columns, questions like why were Our Lady, Trinity and Saints' columns built in Europe and what was the cause of plaque epidemic and its results in Europe are answered. The main part of my diploma thesis focuses on places where these sculptures are situated. The zone is defined by the formal Hradec Králové division and by the town Rychnov nad Kněžnou. The author of this diploma thesis compares his knowledge with works of other authors. In the supplement, the columns are depicted including the map of their placement in Hradec Králové District and in Rychnov nad Kněžnou.
Christianity in Primary Education

This diploma thesis Christianity in Primary Education is focused on Christianity (namely holidays and saints, Bible stories and basics of Christianity) in primary teaching. The area of Christianity in Czech public education is analysed on the basis of informations which are contained in curricular documents and textbooks. The results are compare with some other European states. The semi-structured interviews allowed to examine more in detail the influence of teachers and their attitudes in connection with teaching about Christianity. The response to these interviews is the activity file which is possible to use as a teaching tool.
The holy queen Elisabeth? The metamorphose and idealisation of a Bohemian queen's image

The thesis is devoted to Eliška Přemyslovna, the Czech Queen, and deals with the topic from several points of view. Besides her historical image created on the basis of historical, mainly narrative sources, aim is to capture also the transformation of the image in the example of godly woman and female saint, especially in the context of today's pursuit of her beatification. In this context, the historical origins of idealization of Queen Eliška which accompanied the beatification process already in the High Middle Ages will also be looked for. Another goal is to probe into the cause of canonization of medieval noble ladies and monarchs and recently canonized saints Czech and Moravian and to follow transformations of this process from the Middle Ages to the present. The attention will also be paid to motivation of current effort for beatification of Eliška.
Josef Schiffner as the author of legends in the begining of 19th century

AJ The aim of this thesis is to introduce and put in to context literary work of Josef Schiffner. In this thesis I made a comparison of legends from Bohuslav Balbín, which is considered as Schiffner's exemplar, legends from Josef Schiffner and legends from Michael Sintzel, whom legends were published in the Czech lands in 1844. In this thesis, I am also trying to recognize influence of the enlightenment on legends.
Christian Christmas and its Practice in Prague

In this magister study ,,Christian Christmas and its Practice in Prague" I write about Christmas in Prague. I write about a Christmas traditions, weather sayings and about the ways of celebration Chistmas in Prague. This diploma has two parts. The first part is a theoretical part and the second part is a practical part. In the theoretical part I write about Christian traditions, traditions and weather sayings. For example I write about saint Barbora, Mikulas, Lucy and Stephan. In this magister study I also write about Christmas Eve. This day has a lot of traditons, for example people cut an apple or throw the boot. They also sing Christmas carols and watch the fairy tales in the Czech television. The Czech Christmas has a lot of symbols, for example the Christmas carols, Christmas trees, Christmas decorations, a carp, Christmas candles and Christmas concerts of popular and Christmas music. The new tradition is watching the fairy tales in the televiion or shopping a lot of Christmas gifts. In the practical part of my study I write about a Christmas celebration in Prague in the 21st century. I know that the most important is the Christmas Eve with a Christmas dinner, the Christmas tree, the Christmas traditions and the Christmas gifts. Latin Hagiography of Early Middle-Ages as a Source for Christianisation of the Central Europe

of the paper The goal of the submitted work is to compare extensively the first hagiographical concerning the process of Christianization in the Central Europe. By paralleling these texts across the national rounds and comparing their image with the current state of the historical research the author tries to understand the role of legend in the Christianization and in particular their possible use as a source for this period. The hagiographical image of paganism, the baptism of the state units, of the ruler and the usual way of the institutional spread of the faith with regard to the image of the lower social classes in the process are all examined in the thesis. Further, attention is paid to the coherence of the Central-European area observable in the typology and the content of examined hagiography.
