Education of Preschool Children with Cerebral Palsy

This bachelor thesis focuses on the education of preschool children with cerebral palsy in different educational settings. These are a mainstream nursery school and a day care centre. The essential aim is to find out, how much the choice of pre-school setting affects two children with the same diagnosis in their development and social skills. The work consists of two parts. The theoretical part describes cerebral palsy including its etiopathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, and specific manifestations, that are typical for children with cerebral palsy. It also explains the system of preschool education in Czechia and options for children with cerebral palsy. The practical part deals with the characteristics of pre-school educational institutions and detailed anamnestic data. It is implemented by qualitative research, in the form of two case studies. Semi-structured interviews with parents and teaching staff, participant observation of children and document analysis are used for data collection. The data obtained from the interviews are processed through content analysis.
The role of the teaching assistant in distance learning

The aim of this diploma thesis is to find out what functions teaching assistants facilitated during distance learning. The thesis is divided into two parts: a theoretical and a practical one. The theoretical part is based on the contemporary literature and focuses on two key concepts required for it - the teaching assistant and the distance learning. The first chapter is devoted to a subject of the teaching assistant and focuses on the historical development of this profession in the Czech republic, the teaching assistant in inclusive education, his/her prerequisites and the scope of work. The end of the first chapter is dedicated to cooperation and communication of the teaching assistant with teachers and legal representatives of pupils with special educational needs. The second chapter of the theoretical part is focused on distance learning, its historical development, specifics and e-learning. The end of this chapter and the entire theoretical part addresses the distance learning as a phenomenon of the Coronavirus period. The practical part is based on a quantitative research, which uses a method of questioning. The aim of the practical part is to identify different roles and activities of the teaching assistants during the distance learning.
Education of Pupils with Special Educational Needs at Waldorf Schools

The bachelor thesis addresses the issue of educating students with a different mother tongue (DMT) in the environment of a Czech elementary Waldorf-type school. The theoretical part defines a student with special educational needs. Next, Waldorf education is described. The research part of the thesis was implemented using a qualitative type of research. The research group included teaching staff who directly participated in the educational process of DMT students.
Attitudes of second grade pupils towards their classmates with disability

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to find out the attitudes of second grade pupils towards their classmates with disabilities. The thesis is divided into two parts: a theoretical and a practical. The theoretical part is based on the current literature and deals with a person with a disability, the definition of disability and the personality of these individuals. The theoretical part further defines a pupil with special educational needs, his/her educational possibilities and inclusive education. The last chapter is focused on the subject of attitudes, their changes and attitude of society towards persons with disabilities. The end of this chapter and the whole theoretical part deals with prosocial behavior and morality in adolescence. The practical part is based on quantitative research and its aim is to find out the attitudes of second grade pupils towards their classmates with disabilities.
Analysis of the special educational needs of seniors with visual impairment

The main subject of this thesis is to determine the special educational needs of seniors with visual impairment. It aims at seniors that must adapt not only to the specific changes brought by the old age but also to the loss of eyesight or the decline of the ability to see, which initiates new needs of these people. This thesis analyses such specific needs within the context of the quality of life of the elderly with this disability. The purpose of this thesis is to describe the requirements, to assess whether they are fulfilled sufficiently and whether the activation and care provided to the seniors bring a way of life that is meaningful and satisfying. It also estimates which activities and tools are preferred the most in their everyday life. Through the qualitative research, the methods used to converse with the disabled seniors and their care assistants in the Retirement Home Palata, this thesis brings several categories concerning the special educational needs that influence the quality of life of the elderly. The application of this research might be useful in the special educational support of the seniors with visual impairment, for example, in the process of adaptation of the seniors to the disability and in case of supporting their independence and contentment. Educating children from a Children's Home

Dissertation is focused on the issue of institutional care in the Czech Republic. The main focus of this work are children's homes, education and socialization of children placed in this type of residential care. The aim of the theoretical part is to describe the characteristics of subjects of institutional care in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, to compare institutional care with selected countries and describe the child's socialization in the family and at school. A historical overview of institutional care in the Czech Republic is also described, and in conclusion the author deals with a specific description of the social inclusion of pupils with special educational needs in the teaching process at primary school. The empirical part reports on the research and its results obtained by qualitative methodology using case study design. The main goal of the research was to find out how children from a children's home are integrated into the teaching process at primary school. Furthermore, the author set several partial goals.
