Mihočová, Jiřina ; Novák, Petr (advisor) ; Ondrušová, Jiřina (referee)
The presented diploma thesis analyzes how the process of acquiring social competences for people with hearing impairment takes place. The work is divided into theoretical and empirical parts and divided into four chapters. In the theoretical part, there are chapters clarifying the importance of hearing in the process of social competences and the effect of its lack on an individual's life. We will also find chapters clarifying the problem of hearing impairment and the definition of social competences with regard to hearing impairment. In the practical part, the research reveals the subjective attitude to which extent certain institutions were involved in the process in the life of the respondents. The practical part further analyzes whether the necessary social competences are the same from the point of view of the hearing and deaf communities. The mentioned research indirectly follows on from a part of the research that was described in the bachelor's thesis (Mihočová, 2022), where the research revealed what social competences are suitable for satisfactory social functioning from the perspective of hearing individuals. It was also conducted using a qualitative method. In the practical part, I also analyze the results of both research investigations and compare the knowledge gained. Based on the...
Gross motor skills in children with hearing impairment in preschool age
Vrtišková, Eliška ; Komorná, Marie (advisor) ; Kotvová, Miroslava (referee)
The bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of gross motor skills in children with hearing impairment in preschool age. In order to understand the relationship between hearing impairment and gross motor skills, the first chapter describes the anatomy of the auditory organ. Hearing impairment, its division and compensation options are then defined. The second chapter characterizes motor skills and individual psychomotor development milestones with an emphasis on preschool age. The last chapter summarizes the findings of some foreign research dealing with this topic. The practical part provides data on the state of gross motor skills in children with hearing impairment. For this purpose, ten hearing-impaired probands underwent two different test batteries. The results of the first were compared with the expected age of task acquisition, and the results of the second were compared with the score of two control groups taken from two diploma theses. The obtained data showed a lower level of motor skills in children with hearing impairment compared to intact children. The findings are described in more detail in the discussion together with the answers to the research questions. KEYWORDS Gross motor skills, hearing impairment, balance, preschool age

The Technology of Subtitles in Films and other Media
Hearing impairment and fatigue in everyday life
Kučerová, Kamila ; Hádková, Kateřina (advisor) ; Bartoňová, Miroslava (referee)
The thesis is focused on the relationship between hearing impairment and fatigue in everyday life. The theoretical part first introduces the topic of hearing impairment and fatigue separately, and then connects these two aspects and introduces current knowledge and studies that deal with the issue of fatigue in people with hearing impairment. The theoretical findings are followed by a practical section describing research that aims to analyse and reflect on the impact of hearing impairment on everyday fatigue in people with hearing impairment. To achieve this aim, a qualitative research design inspired by the international research of Holman et al. (2019) was used - in this respect, despite various limitations based primarily on the thesis's specifics, we attempted to replicate the international research. Our research consisted of conducting six semi-structured interviews (n = 6) with adult individuals with varying degrees of hearing loss. All interviews were subsequently analysed using thematic analysis. The results of the research bring several findings - perceived everyday fatigue related to hearing loss is a highly individual matter and manifests itself in most (but not all) respondents to varying degrees. Hearing impairment-related fatigue can result from increased hearing effort or exposure...

Vinklátová, Veronika ; Valešová Malecová, Barbara (advisor) ; Komorná, Marie (referee)
The bachelor's thesis The use of bibliotherapy in the development of reading literacy of prelingually deaf children connects the field of bibliotherapy with deaf studies. The aim of the thesis is to draw up a proposal for a bibliotherapy program based on theoretical knowledge which aims at supporting the development of reading literacy of pupils who lost their hearing before learning spoken Czech and who consider the Czech sign language (which will also be the primary communication code of the programme) as their first language. The theoretical part summarizes and synthesizes Czech and foreign knowledge about the deaf (with an emphasis on their communication systems and the acquisition of Czech language), reading literacy, its meaning and development, and bibliotherapy and its techniques. The practical part of the thesis contains a proposal for a bibliotherapy program in which clients will work with different types of texts, such as comics, recipes, popular science texts and narration. Activities following the reading develop selected reading strategies and components of reading literacy.
