Adolescents' Perception of TV Show Product Placement

The aim of this thesis is to describe the attitude of Czech adolescent toward product placement (PP), a form of marketing communication in TV series. Having said that, the thesis describes the term "product placement", its definition, history, development as well as its various formats. Apart from that, product placement's efficiency, legislative regulation and its meaning in marketing communication are taken into consideration. Besides, the thesis also defines the interactions between adolescents and commercials, and it refers to adolescents as a specific target group within marketing environment. The empiric model of product placement, based on adolescents' answers, describes the attitude of 507 respondents towards this marketing technique. The examination shows how Czech adolescents perceive TV series' product placement and whether they notice this technique in the chosen media format, and if the commercial message has an impact on the target group. Based on the analysis of all answers, a recommendation of product placement for Czech market will be set. On top of that, this recommendation includes an empiric model of product placement and a SWOT analysis to summarize strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of this communication. The development of teen drama since 1990s. On the example of TV series Beverly Hills 90210 and Gossip girl.

Diploma thesis "The development of teen drama since 1990s. On the example of TV series Beverly Hills 90210 and Gossip girl." is thematic and narrative analysis of two American teen drama television series, Beverly Hills 90210 and Gossip girl. Teen drama genre has been developing for more than twenty years and the aim of my research is to compare the display of the youth in teen drama since the early 1990s until present. In the theoretical part of my work I present a sociological and culturological basis for study of youth and adolescence, as well as classification of serial production within television studies and description of its impact on development of teen drama. The empirical part includes qualitative theme analysis of each of the series and narrative analysis of characters.
Presentation of chosen tv series from period of normalization in magazines czechoslovak television and television

This thesis examines how two magazines from normalization era (Czechoslovak television and Television) wrote about three chosen TV Series (The Thirty Adventures of Major Zeman, Good Water and Gottwald) when they were launched on the screen. Not only noticing topical and genre range of the texts, thesis also judges degree of propaganda in unusual journalistic environment (state press writes about state television). Thesis notes viewers'opinions apart from official texts. They were also published on magazines. Last but not least, thesis compares media environment of those days with temporary one. It notes details from normalization that are not supposed to work today. Theoretical and historical view on Czechoslovak television's operation during normalization goes before concrete research. A lot of media literature is used. Thesis confronts opinions of censored press in normalization with more objective state. This is applied both on evaluations or describing of series and on writing about real historical events. Therefore, two series that describes historiy from communist point of view were chosen - The Thirty Adventures of Major Zeman and Gottwald.
Educational value of popular tv shows in 21th.century

Bachelor's thesis "Educational value of popular TV shows in 21st century" describes three popular TV shows and analyses their educational value. First part focuses on intentional and unintentional educational TV shows in past and present and analyses the differences between documantary and fictional TV series. Second part analyses information, that are beeing presentated in described TV shows, their factional validity and educational value seen both from the view of the audience and the creators of the shows. Third part proposes use of the single TV shows in formal and informal educational process based on both new and existing models.
Use of "Friends" series in teaching English on B2 level

This thesis deals with the possibilities of using television series `Friends' in teaching English on B2 level to further linguistic and communicative competences of the students. The purpose of this thesis was to find out, whether a systematic use of the series, as a motivation to the students, for sparking a discussion or conversation among them or as means of immersion in the language and acquisition of the language, would be possible in a high school English teaching environment for a prolonged period of time. The thesis also debates the advantages and disadvantages of using series, compared to the advantages and disadvantages of using different multimedia. The thesis contains a list of activities that have been used during the testing of the series and several ideas on their modification.
The relationship between a computer game and its audiovisual pattern

Diploma thesis The Relationship between the Computer Game and its Audiovisual Pattern deals with the similarities and differences between the computer games and audiovisual works. The thesis presents some theories reflecting different points of view to the influence and blending of these media forms. Those theories are the base for a suggestion of typology of games and movies adaptations that were made according to a pattern. In each of three suggested categories, there are mentioned some particular examples of computer games that were inspired by movie or series and also examples of movies that were inspired by computer game. The final chapter is a case study which compares the computer game Lost: Via Domus to its audiovisual pattern - series Lost.
Product Placement in Czech Television Series Production Demonstrated on the Nova TV Channel

The Bachelor's Thesis on the topic of Product Placement in Czech Television Series Production Demonstrated on the Nova TV Channel is focused on the use of product placement, defined as a placement of products in audio-visual works, as a marketing tool. This Bachelor's Thesis aims to analyse perception of product placement by the audience, based on qualitative and quantitative research, demonstrated on the Nova TV Channel specifically. Moreover, this Thesis aims to assess product placement methods applied in Czech television series production and to propose possible improvements. The Thesis is based on certain examples of television series broadcasted on the Nova TV Channel. The data employed in the Thesis are collected from an in-depth interview with a MediaPro Pictures agency worker, survey and further research made by the author.
Media content organization and solutions in JavaFX

The bachelor thesis looks into changes in television and movie audience behavior. Increas-ing amount of TV shows and movies in user media library brings new needs those files properly organize a record which one has been already watched by user. Software solution must abide audience custom and allow smooth transition from slowly degrading television audience to new, more interactive one. Current offer on market of media organization software is broad, but it is important to focus in detail on functions of those applications and verify if they truly meet all set requirements, or if they are robust application software, which can be not very user-friendly for common user. Custom solution in Java using brand new user interface library JavaFX 8, which goal is to bring basic framework of possibilities of solving media organization for future programmers.

The thesis aims to map and describe so called ?fictional languages? which we can find in contemporary fiction literature, cinematography and TV shows. The most popularare: Elvish languages Quenya and Sindarin by J. R. R. Tolkien, Klingon language from the TV show Star Trek, Ancient language from fantasy books by Christopher Paolini, Newspeak from George Orwell?s novel 1984, Nadsat language used by teens in Clockwork Orange novel and the new Dothraki language used in the TV show Game of Thrones. The objective of this work is comparing of the most popular fictive languages and an assessment whether and how is it possible to use given languages in communication.
