Analyzing the use of law as a tool for the management of educional systems in Czech Republic and evaluating the impacts of selected legislative changes in years 1990 - 2010

This diploma thesis examines the use of the law as an instrument for the governance of the education system in the Czech Republic. It evaluates the impact some selected changes in legislation had on the education system during the period between 1990 and 2010. The topic of this paper is the law used as an instrument for implementing education policies in the Czech Republic, as well as monitoring of and evaluating objectives and reality. A section in the theoretical part is dedicated to defining and explaining the basic terms the author works with and uses throughout the text. The paper briefly analyses the development of changes within the school system in the course of the first twenty years that followed after the November overthrow in 1989. Key attempts to make changes in education and child-rearing are described, and the amendments to the Education Act or, if applicable, other legislation that impacted on the school system and education are examined. Not only does this paper summarize the key legislative reforms within the education process in the Czech Republic between 1990 and 2010, it also examines the education system from the curriculum documents' point of view - Primary School, General School and National School, the Framework Education Programme - as well as the school governance systems...
Confronto fra i sistemi scolastici ceco e italiano

This bachelor thesis has a comparative character. It focuses on a comparison of educational systems between Czech Republic and Italy. The first theoretical part of the thesis characterizes primary features of both educational systems. Areas of education are briefly described to aid a better orientation in the thesis. The second part contains a comparison of specific areas of educational systems based on data suggested in the first part. As a conclusion, the thesis contains a bilingual glossary with relevant therminology.
Czech school in 1945

Diploma thesis is concerned with organization of education after ending of the Second World War. The first chapter deals with education in a period of the Nazi occupation. Main part of this thesis is focused on organization of school year 1945/1946 and on problems which occured in connection with organization of post-war education. The following part devotes to teachers and pupils in this period. In this thesis is also described unitary educational model, the origin of the faculties of education, activity of the Extraordinary People's Courts and activity of institutions like the Ministry of Education or the Country School Council, and teaching some school subjects (history, political education and russian language). The thesis is based on study of the archival sources, law regulations and interpretation the articles of professional pedagogical literature.
Demand and supply on the market of secondary education in the Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis analyses demand and supply on the market of secondary education in the Czech Republic and it is focused on the differences between state and private schools. The thesis consist of the definition of technical terms, evolution and context of hitory of education, characterization of the specifics of marketing strategy and differences in the financing methods in state and private sector. Furthermore, the thesis includes statistic data of evolution of demand and supply of education. Practical part is focused on research at state and church grammar schools in the town of Kutná Hora and it includes interviews with the school headteachers and questionnaire-based research, which was conducted among pupils in the first year of high school studies.
Stigmatization of the Gifted Children

This thesis is focused on the stigmatization of gifted children with the emphasis on situation in the Czech republic. The research of this topic is not much covered in Czech environment, foreign literature offers a few studies, but they do not have sociological focus. Therefore the author of this thesis aims to approach this topic from a different point of view. She uses the Erving Goffman's theory of stigma and also information from pedagogical and psychological literature about gifted children. The research is based primarily on six interviews with the parents of the gifted children but also partially on the information gained during two conferences. In the research part, the author focuses on stigmatization trough three types of identity that Goffman defines in his theory. The author uses these types of identity to show how and when the stigmatization takes place, how the gifted children and their parents use the stigma management to influence the information they give to others and how the gifted children feel about their stigma and which advices are given to them in this matter. The analysis of the data indicates that the stigmatization of the gifted children does happen, but the process is different for every child and every social environment.
