Intake of the D vitamin at children at younger school age
PAVLÍČKOVÁ, Adéla
Vitamin D is an integral part of our diet. It is vital for a proper growth and development of a child. It affects development of bones, nervous system activity, neuron creation, and immune system. Currently, around 60% of European children suffer from its deficiency. Insufficient intake of vitamin D from animal sources can be the cause of the deficiency for this group. Up to 90% of vitamin D intake is caused by the sun. Thus, the cause of the deficit can also be the lowered time spent outside. I chose four goals for my bachelor's thesis. The first goal was to ascertain the amount of vitamin D that primary school children intake orally. The second goal I chose was to ascertain the significance of oral vitamin D supplements for primary school children. The third goal was to ascertain the number of products with vitamin D content that primary school children have in their diet. The last goal was to determine what part of dietary reference intake of vitamin D primary school children take in from food. The practical part dealt with the interpretation of the research results. The sample consisted of 20 subjects aged 6 to 12 years old, and the data were gathered in Písek and surrounding areas. The research method I chose was quantitative-qualitative. The data were gathered by questionnaires and menus. The questionnaires helped determine the number of products with vitamin D content that each subject consumed in a week. It also contained a question whether they supplement vitamin D. The menu helped determine the amount of vitamin D taken in from foods in a week. The collected data from menus were subsequently inputted into the Nutriservis software, which calculated the amounts of vitamin D in micrograms from the given foods. From these results, I calculated the overall weekly vitamin D intake and what percentage it made from the weekly oral dietary reference intake of vitamin D. If the subject used supplements, I added it to the calculation of weekly intake and determined the percentage of weekly oral dietary reference intake. The questionnaires indicate that among the most favourite products with vitamin D content are milk and dairy products. Less frequent but also significant are egg yolks and vegetable oils. Liver, however, was reportedly consumed by only three subjects out of 20 on a weekly basis. Based on the results, a conclusion can be drawn - vitamin D supplements play a significant role in the given age group. This claim is supported by the research results, which indicated that none of the subjects would have fulfilled the weekly oral dietary reference intake without vitamin D supplements. Currently supplementing were 8 out of 20 subjects. Seven out of the eight supplementing managed to fulfil the weekly oral dietary reference intake. These results indicate that it is necessary to increase awareness of both children and parents about vitamin D intake.

Baláčková, Dominika ; Nováková, Tereza (advisor) ; Stupková, Michaela (referee)
Title: Occurrence of flatfeet and level of postural stability of children aged 6-11 years Objectives: The target of my study was to do screening of postural stability and foot arch of primary school children. Another aim was to verify the incidence the relationship between functional flatfoot and postural stability among 6-11 age children with the usage of podoscope and dynamic balance test Mini BESTest. Methods: The research was processed in 7. elementary schools located in Chomutov. In total participed 227 children 6 - 11 years old. The stability was evaluated according set of tests Mini-BESTest: Balance Evaluation Systems Test ©. Flat arch was examined by podoscope with two cameras and software MultiReha®. Data were evaluated in Microsoft Office Excel and RStudio. Results: The average score of Mini BESTest of the monitored subject was 24,32. Females got higer score (24,66) compared to males (24,08). Physiological arch of the foot was diagnosed for 67 % of students, flatfoot for 14 %, highfoot for 19 %. The foot arch does not have influence on postural stability of pupils in younger school age. Keywords: Mini BESTest, stability, foot arch, functional flatfoot, primary school age.

Math self-efficacy of children at primary school
Vozková, Anna ; Smetáčková, Irena (advisor) ; Pavelková, Isabella (referee)
Self-efficacy significantly influences human functioning. It is not only individual's belief about his capabilities but also what he thinks he can achieve with them. This bachelor's theses is concerned with a specific domain of self-efficacy in mathematics and also with variables related to mathematics. The theoretical part summarizes a basic theoretical background of self-efficacy with an emphasis on the self- efficacy concept from Albert Bandura. Other parts involve topics such as academic self-efficacy, mathematical self-efficacy and gender differences in mathematical performance and attitude toward mathematics. The empirical part describes the realized research. Its goal was to find out the measure of self-efficacy of children in four grade of elementary school. The research was also focused on a relationship between self-efficacy and other variables (performance in mathematics, grades in mathematics, identification with mathematics) and concerned with a question whether there are any gender differences in math self-efficacy and in those other variables. Methods used in this research were two kinds of questionnaires and a mathematical test. Results of this research suggest that there are no gender differences in mathematical self-efficacy, neither in other variables. On the other hand, there were some...
Science experiments during free-time activities of school-aged children
Moulisová, Marie ; Čapek Adamec, Martin (advisor) ; Kropáčková, Jana (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the ways in which science (chemistry, physics, biology) and other related disciplines can be used in primary school children's leisure time activities. It presents a number of practical proposals as for how to make these subjects more accessible in an attractive way. The theoretical part briefly describes the individual subjects in question, a range of leisure-time facilities suitable for the intended activities, and specifies the characteristics of preschool children. The practical part brings a numer of possible experiments in the given subjects, together with their description and practical implementation. The proposals for experiments and activities are based on everyday life. The aim of this thesis is to make these often not fully understood everyday life situation accessible to children in an interesting and playful way. The final reflection is aimed at the assessment of the suitability of the individual proposals, and their possible pitfalls and improvements.
