Periodicals in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm in the first half of 20th Century

Diploma thesis named Periodicals in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm in the 1st half of 20th century describes press developmental changes issued in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm. Firstly, thesis characterizes what kind of press has been issued in Frenštát, what was in its content, who was the target group and how the press reflected current issues. Thesis is divided into three historical parts according to global political issues and changes in press trends. Mentioned three parts are the periods between 1900 -1918, 1918 - 1945, 1945 - 1950, when the press trends had been changing step by step from popularity of the local press and magazines expansion, towards political press and establishing of company magazine. All this changes are reflected on the background of town and global history. The reader is in introduction briefly acquainted with the town history, its cultural wealth, famous persons, development of the local clubs and industry. Secondly follows the main part of the thesis, where is in detail described particular types of newspapers in mentioned time periods. Part of the thesis is quantitative content analysis of two chosen newspapers with aim to determinate, what were the topics, in what range, who was the target group and what type of news was dominating: local, nationwide or global.
Luxury printed titles on the Czech media market

This Master's thesis focuses on the current luxury print media, which are published in the Czech Republic and are intended for the general public. At first, a theoretical part introduces the entire contemporary print media market, with an emphasis on periodically published titles. The thesis also deals with factors, that affect the form of these titles and media in general, using knowledge of a political economy of communication. Subsequently, the thesis shifts attention to its main topic - a luxury in general and luxury magazines. These magazines are described and set in the context of niche media. The thesis also summarizes knowledge about advertising. The research uses a qualitative research method with a partial application of a quantitative method: categorization, description, and comparison. It brings a summary of all currently published luxury periodicals, which are categorized based on thematic focus, periodicity, price, and publisher. The main part of the research is an analysis of ten titles (53x11, Můj dům, Motorbike, Dolce Vita, Bylinky Revue, SCORE, Kreativ, Vesmír, FC and dTest), in which a self- presentation, a target reader, a content, and a graphic design are described and evaluated. An Image of the Years 1948, 1953 and 1968 on Pages of the Karlovy Vary Press

Academic paper "An Image of the Years 1948, 1953 and 1968 on Pages of the Karlovy Vary Press" analyses specific articles from newspapers that were published in Karlovy Vary. In 1948 it was newpaper called Budovatel - List Čs. sociální demokracie and Jednota - List pracujících hraničářů. In 1953 we follow newspaper Stráž míru and Karlovarský kraj. We selected several articles which we analysed and described in detail from the perspective of content and thematic focus. We are looking for answers to the questions we have established in the theoretical part. In 1948, we look for references in the texts, for example, to the expulsion of the Germans from Czechoslovakia; new settlement within the areas Germans left, or we look for references to the communist coup in February 1948. In articles from 1953, we follow the information about the deaths of J. V. Stalin and Klement Gottwald. We also look for references about monetary reform in the texts. The work aims to approach the historical environment of the Karlovy Vary region from the perspective of the above-mentioned newspapers.
Czech contemporary architecture in czech print media

The bachelor thesis "Media reflexion czech contemporary architecture in czech periodical" deals with research media representation contemporary czech architecture in daily newspapers Pravo, Lidove noviny and periodical Reflex in the period from 1st January to 31st December 2012 and 2016. The theoretical part of this thesis explains media concepts, describes concept of representation and stereotype represantion. Next part of this thesis deals with subject of contemporary architecture, focus on status of architecture in society and also on the relationship of architecture and media. In partical part, first, I Introduce to the metod of quantitative content analysis, then I explain the procedure of reaserch. Then I presents the results of the reaserch and their interpretation. The evaluation of reaserch data I reply reaserch questions and partly disclaims the hypothesis. This thesis captures the events of the X Olympic Winter Games 1968 and Games of the XIX Olympiad 1968 in context of historical background of political and social evolution in Czechoslovakia from perspective of their that time's presentation manner in the period printed media. It describes basic ideology principles focusing on socialism and communism, 1968 historical context in Czechoslovakia focusing on Warsaw Pact military invasion of the land in August that year, also start and origins of the Olympic movement. The second part of this thesis deals with both 1968 Olympic Games from perspective of the czechoslovakian attendance and brings main related topics turned up in the period periodicals closer. The analysis itself refers to two journals with big social overlap and sport and political theme - they are Československý sport and Rudé právo. The analysis has tried to pointed out the ideological elements in the media contents of the journals which features the Olympic Games, also the Olympic movement thoughts or local political situation. Periodical press in Kutná Hora region during the period 1918-1948

The master thesis Periodical Press in the Kutná Hora Region during the period 1918 - 1948 focuses on the changes of the structure of periodical press in the Kutná Hora region in the specified time range. First, the definition of the Kutná Hora region with its demographic and geographic characteristics is provided. As the structure of the periodical press in the Kutná Hora region during the era of the First Republic was based on the situation before the First World War, the landscape of the media of the Kutná Hora region before 1918 is described. Kutná Hora region had been already rich in periodical press of political parties as well as the press of non-political organizations in that time and the same situation applies also for the interwar period. After the Munich agreement until the beginning of the occupation of Czechoslovakia the structure of the political press was changing at first and finally all the periodicals of political parties ceased to exist. By the march 1943, also the press of the non-political organization disappeared. In 1945 the richness of the prewar periodical press situation was not renewed. The Ph.D. thesis deals with the Czech author František Gellner. It deliberately endeavours not to exclude any of the segments of his both literary and visual work out of consideration, but to present them all in their heterogeneity, yet in mutual connections. Works of Gellner's art are therefore interpreted in novel ways, especially in consideration of the contexts of the period from which they origin (and above others those contexts that have become obscure and forgotten in the nearly hundred years since the original publication of Gellner's work). The first chapter summarizes the previous critical reception of Gellner's work and at the same time deals with this author's image in the Czech cultural milieu. Analysing some of Gellner's manuscripts, the second chapter aims to describe the specific type of the author's creativity. The third chapter is devoted to the problem of ambiguously constructed national identity of František Gellner and to the impact it had on the ways he dealt with the themes of Jewishness and anti-Semitism. The fourth chapter describes the various relations between Gellner's works and the periodicals these were prepared for. Periodical Press in České Budějovice 1945-1948

The thesis Periodical Press in České Budějovice 1945 - 1948 focuses on the specifics of the development of periodicals published in České Budějovice in the post-war era from 1945 to 1948. The first part of the thesis deals with the changes in political, economic and cultural spheres in České Budějovice after World War II because it is significant context that influenced the organization and the structure of the national and regional press. For a systematic interpretation of the media situation the thesis captures the characteristics of the periodical press in České Budějovice published in the period between 1938 and 1945. The broadcasting of the radio station was very important during the last days of World War II, because it formed the basis of the regional editorial office of the Czechoslovak Radio. Therefore it was not possible to omit this topic. Specific changes in the organization and structure of the periodicals in České Budějovice in the post-war period are elaborated in the fourth and fifth part of the thesis.
