Social Work with Children and Support for Children in the Event of Parental Divorce
MALÍKOVÁ, Štěpánka
Abstract This bachelor thesis deals with the methods used by social workers to work with children during their parents' divorce, as well as the provision of support for these children. Divorce is an incredibly stressful situation for children. During divorce proceedings, children can develop a range of psychological, social, and behavioural problems. Therefore, it is important to provide appropriate social support to these children during the divorce process. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe whether and how social workers from the Department of Social and Legal Protection of Children and social workers from non-profit organizations work with children whose parents are divorcing, as well as to identify the support that social workers can offer these children. A qualitative research approach was used, specifically the method of interviewing with semi-structured interviews. The interviews were conducted with social workers from the Department of Social and Legal Protection of Children at municipal offices with extended powers and with social workers from non-profit organizations working with children and families in the selected region. The collected data was analysed using the method of creating clusters.

What do parents of preschool children expect from kindergarten
JEŽKOVÁ, Zuzana
This bachelor's thesis studies the expectations that the parents of preschool children have of kindergartens. Parents often keep these expectations to themselves and rarely voice them. My objective was to identify what parents consider as important, what properties a kindergarten should have, what parents' requirements are of teachers, as well as how teachers themselves perceive the issue. In the theoretical part, I deal with the basic terms such as family, preschool child, kindergarten, and the mutual cooperation of family and school. The second part of the thesis describes a questionnaire survey and interviews. Whilst a large portion of parents are satisfied with their choice of kindergarten, some have made suggestions such as improved communication, a change of diet, or a reduction of rewards in the form of sweets.
Adolescents'attitudes to the phenomenon of sharenting
Urban, Tereza ; Vochocová, Lenka (advisor) ; Soukup, Martin (referee)
This diploma thesis focuses on the widespread phenomenon of sharenting, an activity in which parents share photos, videos, or detailed descriptions of their children on social media. The diploma thesis aims to find out how Czech adolescents, who have direct experience with this phenomenon, feel about it. The qualitative research is based on findings obtained through in- depth interviews with eleven adolescents. The theoretical part is devoted to the definition of the main concepts - adolescence and sharenting and puts them in the context of Communication Privacy Management Theory and Impression Management Theory. The empirical part then presents the results and conclusions of the research. The results of the analysis show that adolescents' views on sharenting are largely influenced by their perceptions of the risks associated with this phenomenon. Those of them who had a somewhat negative experience with sharenting perceived this activity as riskier. At the same time, those who perceived social networks in general as a potential threat were more aware of their risks. On the other hand, if the rules for sharing are well set between parents and their children and parents respect the opinion of their children, sharenting can be perceived positively among the adolescents themselves, and they may even...

Večeřová, Eliška ; Presslerová, Pavla (advisor) ; Viktorová, Ida (referee)
The thesis aims to explore a phenomenon observed among some contemporary parents: openness in communication with their young children is an important value for them, but on several topics they hesitate whether it is also appropriate in this case or modify it in some way. Based on a qualitative approach using semi-structured interviews with parents of preschool children, the work provides a concrete description of how parents balance their openness in communication about sex, Baby Jesus, death and war, relationships and emotions, as well as in parenting. Subsequently, it presents the common patterns of this balancing across communication topics, describes the motivations, boundaries and barriers to parents' openness in communication, and shows the role of the parent's experience and factors on the child's side. It also describes interpersonal balancing with partners, grandparents and in the context of society. In the practical part, answers to research questions will be sought in the form of questionnaire for parents of preschool children. The goal is to find out how and how often parents of preschool children use fairy tales at home. Furthermore, the goal is to determine whether parents only use fairy tales passively or actively, and to investigate whether parents are aware of the influence of literature on children's development. Then, based on the answers obtained, create methodical material - a manual with suggested activities that parents could apply to (almost) any fairy tale and which supports better use of fairy tales in a family environment. With the help of this supportive material, parents would be able to work with fairy tales better and more efficiently, and thus would specifically support the development of pre- literacy in their children. Caring for a child with a cochlear implant in the home environment.
LOVĚTÍNSKÁ, Michala
Cochlear implants have been used in the Czech Republic since 1993. The cochlear implant gives deaf individuals the opportunity to receive auditory sensations. Cochlear implantation is a procedure where the implant is inserted under the skin and connected to a series of electrodes that are inserted into the cochlea. This procedure is performed by a surgeon which is specializes in ear, nose and throat. After long - term rehabilitation, the individual is able to understand spoken language and can even make phone calls without reading. With a cochlear implant, most users canintegrate into main stream society, among the normal hearing population. Children go to mainstream school, play sports, and communicate with others, all with out the use of sign language. Cochlear implants are currently operated in the Czech Republic at the Motol Hospital in Prague, the St. Anne's Hospital in Brno and the Ostrava Hospital. The first aim was to find out and describe how the child experiences the cochlear implant fitting, the second aim was to find out what problems parents perceive after fitting the cochlear implant in a child, and the third aim was to find out what barriers parents perceive in caring for a child with cochlear implant. The research investigation was carried out by qualitative research, using the method of semi-structured interview. The research sample consisted of ten adult informants, specifically parents, and five child informants. Parents and children come from different regions of the Czech Republic. The interviews took place from February to March 2023. Subsequently, all responses from the interviews with parents of children with cochlear implants users were listed. The results of the responses are divided into categories and their subcategories. The analysis of the results shows that the perception of the cochlear implant is different in children. The research found a fourth group of children who react to the first programming by crying. It was found that the child's experience of CI programming can be influenced by parents. As such, barriers to caring for a child with a cochlear implant have not been identified. Rather, parents perceived shortcomings of the cochlear implant, such as the speech processor slipping off the child's head, difficulty in obtaining a helmet, and perceived sweat as a deficiency with CI. The results show that children's perception of cochlear implant fitting is very individual, depending on many factors. Parents can influence the child's perception by training individual sounds in the home environment. Problems following cochlear implant programming in a child should be minimal, with a chech-up by a clinical engineer. The difficulties perceived by parents in caring for a child with a cochlear implant do not come out as prominently as CI deficiencies. It is very important to treat the child individually. Each child has different characteristics and abilities. From the results of the research investigation, we want to provide comprehensive information for parents of children who experience hearing loss or deafness in their child, and their possible solution is a cochlear implant. The results of the bachelor thesis were presented before an expert jury at the student competition of the ZSF JČU in České Budějovice. Furthermore, the results will be published in a professional journal for nurses.
