Margaret Thatcher and Her Relations to the Trade Union Movement
Vrňák, Tomáš ; Kovář, Martin (advisor) ; Soukup, Jaromír (referee)
In this thesis, my task is the analysis of Margaret Thatcherʼs relations to the trade union movement in the United Kingdom. The thesis includes the analysis of the overall development of the Conservative Party politician and of the development of unions. It also includes a basic analysis of conflicts with unions during the government of Thatcher. Nevertheless Thatcher personally intervened only exceptionally to problems of individual state enterprises. The thesis analyses the legislation aimed against trade unions and other measures that limited the power of the trade union movement. In a separate chapter I deal minersʼ strike. This strike in its scope and course surpassed all others. Finally, the thesis analyses the economic policy of Margaret Thatcher and its impact on the British economy.
Labor market in the USA on the turn of 19th century
Filip, Jan ; Tajovský, Ladislav (advisor) ; Krček, Matěj (referee)
My Bachelor work is devoted to the problems of deformations of labor market under the influence of institutions such as labor unions, federal government of the US and a judicial power. Most importantly it aspires to answer questions as: Why do employees join labor unions? Are labor unions beneficial for the economy? Do the government regulations have anticipated results? I consider this field of economics to be ever actual and very important. First of all I will make an effort to identify what made the workers join the unions, what ways the employers implied to prevent them and if union activities could be marked as economically beneficial. After that I will try to analyze government interventions into the labor market, at what extent they were successful and what their true intentions were if different to the proclaimed ones. In the last part I will make use of the American Federation of Labor as a case study. I will point out the reasons why it did not fall apart in contrast to other labor unions, resp. role it was fulfilling and the development of it intercrossing with politics and its relations towards government interferences. In conclusion I will attempt to summarize the consequences of the activities of unions, employers and government on the labor market.

Hašková, Kateřina ; Váňa, Daniel (advisor) ; Soběhart, Radek (referee)
My bachelor work deals with the Trade Union movement in the Czechoslovak Republic in the years 1948 -- 1960. Chapter I concerns itself with the foundation of the Revolutionary Union Movement in 1945 and its organization structure. Further chapters map the development and the role of Union movement under the new post-February Czechoslovakia's political and economic circumstances. The fundamental chapters refer to the relationships between Unions and Communist power, the position of Unions in the socialist system and within the National Front, and the relationships between Unions and the socialist state. One of the chapters deals with the role of Unions and methods of Union movement. I am seeking to illustrate a general view of the 1950s Union movement and analyze the relationship between Unions and political power in the given period. My work is grounded on the published sources and the latest special literature.
Margaret Thatcherová a její boj s odbory
