The project addresses the design of student housing for two hundred students, design the canteen with the issuance of 800 lunches per day. The proposal must also provide adequate capacity for underground parking spaces. The building is situated on the corner plot between the streets of Vídeňská and Táborského nábřeží. It is designed as a tri-wing design with an internal atrium, open towards the waterfront. Atrium is meant as the main venue for meeting and communicating accommodated students. The building has two floors underground and seven above-ground floors.

Photographer Marie Tomanová and American Youth

This master's thesis aims to explore the body of documentary and photographic work by Marie Tomanová, a prominent Czech photographer who has spent more than a decade living in the United States. Tomanová is now an established part of a long-standing tradition of American documentary photographers who seek to capture the emerging young generations and their culture. In its theoretical part, the thesis will provide a brief history of youth culture in American society from the beginning of the 20th century all the way to the early aughts. It will explore the context in which photographers have depicted youth culture since the mid-20th century, with a particular focus on Marie Tomanová's work as one of the most prominent contemporary representatives of the genre. The practical part consists of a visual social semiotic analysis of selected photographs by various photographers introduced earlier in the thesis. The analysis will attempt to decode the fundamental values encoded within these photographs of young Americans, compare any changes in these values over time and also focus on differences in approach among the individual authors. Underground culture – adaptation of an old brewery in Litovel

On the border between tradition and new knowledge, history, and the present. Between the walls and the river, older and younger. Experience culture in a different way with friends and dance, or sit with a cup of coffee or beer and listen to live music. Try a traditional craft, create, and learn about the city and its surroundings in an unusual playful way. In an instant, find yourself behind the walls or in front of them and listen to the bubbling river, bask in the sun, and feel a sense of belonging with the outdoor environment. Sit under the colonnade and watch the happenings in the market or watch a cultural performance from the gallery. Between two worlds, between young people, between the center and the suburbs, in the same place, to form one meaningful unit. Establish a stronger relationship with the city and nature and have somewhere to have fun. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, you - young people are our wealth. The location is situated on the border of the old historical core behind the medieval walls and the new suburb behind the Morava River along Božena Němcová Street in Litovel. The work deals with the adaptation of the historical spaces of the former brewery cellars and the new superstructure above them, to restore impressive spaces in an interesting place for the public, especially in the field of alternative culture and education for young people. Spaces for the meeting of this intergenerational/intermediate stratum have not yet been found in Litovel, which causes an outflow of young people from the city. An integral part is the modification of the surrounding area with the waterfront and the addition of a pedestrian or cycling promenade along the Morava River. This way, I would like to help the city live up to its title of „Hanácké Venice“ and interconnect the place and its inhabitants with water. The work also deals with the material design of a new apartment building.

Sociological interpretation of hippies movement

My bachelor thesis explores the hippie movement, which emerged in the middle of the sixties in the United States of America. The theoretical framework consists of sociological concepts of culture, subculture, youth and youth subcultures, communities, communes and social movements. The hippie movement was young people's response to middle class consumerism, which preferred material prosperity to moral and cultural values. The American transcendentalist movement and the Beat Generation can be considered its intellectual precursor. The movement's main characteristic was rejection of middle class values. Therefore, some authors have called it a counterculture. Hippies gave up studies and tangible assets. Typical for them was lack of confidence in the future, interest in oriental philosophy and religion, close relationship to nature, specific clothing style, living in communes and the use of drugs, especially LSD. The movement dissipated at the end of the sixties. Its influence is still evident in the effort to fight for human rights, peace, free network, but also in music and clothing. Youth and the Fear of Death

This thesis focuses on death, fearing of death and the way youth is perceived by western society as a preferred era in the life of an individual. It defines youth as a sociodemographic category and examines the problematic role of youth in modern society. It offers an insight into historical perspectives on death, fear of it and how these perspectives have changed. It examines Plato's theory of reincarnation, medieval Christianity's stance towards death, Hume's critical view of whether a soul actually exists and Heidegger's perception of death as an authentic way to end one's life. The thesis emphasizes the fear of death in modern society and the absence of relevant thanatological literature that would approach death in modern society as a complex phenomenon. It notices the ambivalent attitude towards youth in the history of modern society and pinpoints the peculiar position of youth the 20th century. It includes both the rise of the so- called death awareness movement in the second half of 20th century, as well as the hospice movement, that slowly brings brings back the original and private meaning of death into society. Youth Unemployment in Ghana: Causes, Consequences and Policies

This paper seeks to ascertain the current situation of unemployment in Ghana and to compare the situation of youth unemployment and other indicators in Ghana to other selected African countries; Nigeria, Togo, Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast. This study also assesses the current policy measures and their efficiency in addressing youth unemployment in Ghana. Data for this study was obtained from The World Bank, Ghana Statistical Service, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Using education attainment, it was confirmed that skill mismatched is a contributory factor to unemployment amongst other things. To address the issue of youth unemployment, government must shift its focus on examination oriented educational system to critical thinking and problem-solving approach. Government should also promote vocational training and provide support and incentives to individuals who aim to establish their own businesses to employ others. This would complement the effort of government in addressing the issue of youth unemployment in Ghana.
