Integrated Curriculum and Interdisciplinary Approach in Chemistry and Biology in Czech Schools
Kotvaltová Sezemská, Karolína ; Petrželová, Simona (advisor) ; Čížková, Věra (referee) ; Bayerová, Anna (referee)
The topic of this thesis concerns the interdisciplinary approach in teaching chemistry and biology at Czech grammar schools. Especially with two main questions: the determination of the level of integration that secondary school teachers prefer and how to promote an interdisciplinary approach at grammar schools. The following main objectives were established: find out which level of integration of science subjects is preferred by Czech teachers for secondary schools level, identify the main obstacles of implementation of integration, find out the factors which can help with the integration of knowledge, create support for interdisciplinary approach at Czech grammar schools. In order to achieve these objectives, a questionnaire survey among secondary school teachers and interviews with the academic staff of the Faculty of Science of Charles University were carried out. The results of the questionnaire survey showed that respondents prefer to preserve separate subjects with an emphasis on interdisciplinary relationships. The main restriction of integration is that similar topics in chemistry and biology are not taught in the same period, insufficient knowledge of the second subject or lack of learning materials. The main factor which can help with more frequent integration is learning materials. As...
A Concept of Psychic System in the Social Systems Theory of Niklas Luhmann
Kroufek, Marek ; Bureš, Jiří (advisor) ; Hanzal, Petr (referee)
Title in English A Concept of Psychic System in the Social Systems Theory of Niklas Luhmann Annotation This thesis focuses in the form of a theoretical treatise on a secondary concept of Niklas Luhmann's social systems theory, a psychic system. Its main goal is to identify this concept in Luhmann's work and present its structured and comprehensive description. The thesis's secondary intention is then to present Luhmann's theory as itself and show an example of it's possible to work with it. In the first part, fundamental elements of the social systems theory are summarised and certain terms which will be used later in the thesis are explained. An analytical part of the thesis compiles mentions about psychic systems from an investigation of Luhmann's work and consequently structures and explains them in the context. In the last part of the thesis, then based on the previous analysis, a knowledge about psychic system is synthesised and psychic system together with social system are defined as meaning-constitutive systems and their similarities and differences are shown. Then, a possible model of a psychic system's internal structure is proposed and a significance of a consciousness for communication and subsequently for social systems is explained. In the conclusion, possible implications and applications for...

Konečný, Martin ; Valenta, Jan (advisor) ; Rusek, Martin (referee)
Title: Interdisciplinary relations of physics and chemistry in science education Abstract: This master's degree thesis deals with the topic of interdisciplinary relations of chemistry and physics in science education. According to the review, to conveniently integrate physics and chemistry the appropriate topics and approaches were selected. The thesis includes teaching materials and worksheets to the three topics (Evolution of the Universe and the Origin of Elements, Luminescence and Composition and Properties of Matter) that are suitable for integration of physics and chemistry. The teaching material "Evolution of the Universe and the Origin of the Elements" includes a study text for teachers and a shorter study text for pupils. The teaching material "Luminescence" is based on an independent research done by pupils with their own crafted UV-lamp, completed with the facts included in a powerpoint presentation. The teaching material "Composition and Properties of Matter" consists of three parts (The paraffin, The Candle and The Properties of Selected Organic Substances) and is designed for an independent research done by pupils. Listed study materials were checked by teachers during meetings and seminars. The thesis also includes an evaluation of listed study materials by an expert group of high school...

Kousalová, Karolína ; Čeňková, Ivana (advisor) ; Špirk, Jaroslav (referee)
This theoretical thesis focuses on the works of interpreting theorist Franz Pöchhacker. It examines the theoretical underpinnings of his work and analyses both his theoretical work and empirical research in his main fields of interest. Following a chronological order, the thesis covers Pöchhacker's work in the field of conference simultaneous interpreting, which he perceives as a complex action, the development of his interest in quality assessment in interpreting and community interpreting, as well as Pöchhacker's view of Interpreting Studies and its classification according to various parameters. The thesis also provides an overview of the most significant critical reactions to Pöchhacker's work. Key words: Franz Pöchhacker, interdisciplinary approach, integrating approach, hypertext, quality in interpreting, community interpreting, interpreting memes, 2½D interpreting model
