Kosejková, Barbora ; Kočíb, Tomáš (advisor) ; Šteffl, Michal (referee)
Title: Tennis Injuries and Their Prevention Objectives: To summarize current information about the most frequent injuries of tennis players, their causes and possible prevention on the basis of scholarly and professional literature. Methods: The Bachelor's thesis is carried out as an overview study analysing scholarly and professional literature that deals with the most frequent injuries and their prevention with tennis players. The main goals of work were to search for various professional articles containing the topic of tennis injuries, their appropriate prevention and rehabilitation as well as enlarge the knowledge of these injuries, their causes and possible localization on various parts of body. Another goal was to raise awareness of proper recovery during the performance period as well as appropriate rehabilitation and compensation exercises during the injury. Results: The relevant literature shows that most of the tennis injuries are caused by overload, which means players spend more time than optimum on the tennis court. Another cause of these injuries is an incorrect performance of tennis shot, for which tennis coaches are partly to blame too. Therefore, it is important that the coaches insist on the correct technique from the early childhood of player. Almost all tennis injuries can be...

Kopčilová, Michaela ; Jaklová Dytrtová, Jana (advisor) ; Prokešová, Eva (referee)
Title: Posterior chain muscle endurance and arm paddling peak power in amateur female surfers Objectives: Thesis is dedicated to female surfing, particularly paddling, as this is an undiscovered area of research. Very few studies have been carried out, which would focus on muscle activity in surfing. None of the studies focused on posterior chain or muscle activity of female surfers while paddling. Not only that the level of competitive surfing is increasing rapidly, as it will be part of Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020, but the recreational surfers are also becoming more literate about surf science and willing to improve their surfing performance by dry land surf specific trainings. Surfing industry represents a worldwide business, where big companies offer sponsorship, which is reasonable motivation for young athletes (M. Mendez-Villanueva & Bishop, 2005). As the number of recreational and competitive female surfers is raising as well, the level of competitive female surfing is increasing (Booth, 2001) and professional female surfers are becoming equal in regards to getting the same amount of prize money in competitions, more research should be dedicated to female surfing. The aim of this thesis was to study association between posterior chain endurance and other variables such as frequency of...

Foltmanová, Kateřina ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Baláš, Jiří (referee)
Title: The influence of ankle strength on injury prevention in ballet Objectives: The main aim of the study was to find out if injuries in the ankle area have a negative impact on later ankle strength and also if greater ankle strength can lower the probability of ankle injuries in ballet dancers. A secondary objective of this study was to set a limit for ankle strength needed for a safe start on pointe. Methods: First part of this thesis is a systematic review. The other part is a quantitative research in a retrospective, cross-sectional study design. Data from all 24 subjects was analyzed and injured and uninjured dancers were compared. The data was measured at two angular velocities 30 d/s and 180 d/s. Results: The results showed, that the prevention of injury does not depend on the level of minimal ankle strength but on the equal strength of both legs. Therefore the limit for a safe start on pointe was not set. Great plantar flexion deficit differences between the injured and uninjured group of dancers are the main finding in this study. The lowest value of plantar flexion strength has been found in uninjured ankles of injured dancers. Injured dancers had in general lower strength in ankle plantar flexion on the right foot. Injured dancers also had smaller differences between plantar flexion...

Prevention of Injuries and State Prevention Support
KŮSTKOVÁ, Lenka
I wanted to clarify two basic objectives through my thesis. The first objective was to determine how the state supports the programmes focused on injury prevention. The other objective was the description of state programmes and their subsequent evaluation. The theoretical section explains the concept of an injury. It also includes the classification of injuries, it explains the causes of injuries and their consequences, it deals with the classification of injuries by age, it focuses on the specifics of injuries in the age group of 20 to 40 years. It also describes the current status of injury prevention. It divides preventive efforts into the activities that fall within the activities of the World Health Organization (WHO), the state and institutions, and cities. The results of the thesis show that implemented preventive activities are focused primarily on school-age child population, as well as youth and young people. The data for this bachelor thesis was obtained through qualitative research methods, interview techniques with open questions. A data analysis was used to process the information. The respondents believe that there are not a sufficient number of preventive activities for their age group. The thesis research shows that the respondents consider injury prevention as clearly necessary and important. The thesis research also deals with using the Trauma Register in the state injury prevention programmes. The register is currently focused on the child population only. It is planned to extend the data to the adult population.
