Puberty Theme in the Modern Italian Literature
Grünzweigová, Tereza ; Pelán, Jiří (advisor) ; Flemrová, Alice (referee)
The following thesis addresses the theme of puberty through three Italian novels: Agostino by Alberto Moravia, Ernesto by Umberto Saba, and Dietro la porta by Giorgio Bassani. The introduction outlines the history of the children's and adolescents' protagonism in literature since the beginning. One chapter is dedicated to each author, his biographic data and generic work. The analyzed novels are then formally presented whose contents reveal a prevalence of the puberty theme. The authors' life journeys and unique youthful traumas are clearly projected in each novel. We can find the reflection of complicated family relationships, first sexual experiences, and initial problems of adult life in the stories of the young protagonists. Finally, the difference between the characters and their authors is shown with a brief comparison.

Motivation of High School Students for School Work
Fiedlerová, Lucie ; Morávková Krejčová, Lenka (advisor) ; Gillernová, Ilona (referee)
Many secondary school teachers are currently facing students' lack of interest in the subjects taught. Research findings have also repeatedly shown that students' motivation for school work decreases as the length of the studies increases. Furthermore, students' level of motivation reaches a very low level during adolescence despite the fact that many of them make choices regarding their future careers. This thesis focuses on the relation between the motivation of students for school work and the attitudes and skills of teachers - their educational styles, and whether the relationship between students and them is positive or negative. The theoretical part of this paper introduces and describes the above mentioned concepts - educational styles and motivation - or more precisely, what kinds of motivation there are, and how these affect not only the learning process itself, but also the performance, results, and performance goals, all of which are closely linked. The practical part consists of a research investigation focused on verifying the link between students' motivation for school work and the educational styles used by their teachers. Key words motivation, education style, adolescence, achievement goals, academic achievements, learning process, teacher, secondary school student

The aim of the thesis is to provide information about possible connection of these two phenomena based on theory and Czech practice. The thesis has a theoretical and an empirical part. The chapters of the theoretical part describe target groups from the view of adulthood development, the model of therapeutic community and its possible application in various diagnostic circles. The last chapter of the theoretical part describes the employment of the model of therapeutic community in the work with youth at risk in a historical perspective. Next, it suggests that the model of therapeutic community is compatible with the attainment of developmental goals during maturing. The empirical part maps the usage of elements of therapeutic community model in selected facilities which work with youth at risk. It informs whether these elements occur and if so, what shape they take in practice.
