This bachelor thesis investigates and describes the spectrum of the parental ways which parents use to help their children (in the early school age) during the home preparation for school or during the home-based distance education. The investigation has been carried out on the basis of five interviews with the mothers of the younger scholars (2nd - 4th grade). The interviews have been transcribed, coded, analysed and evaluated using the qualitative research methods. I focused mainly on these research questions: How do parents experience their role and relation to their children during the home preparation for school, how did the parents experience the new covid-19 pandemic situation and home-based distance education and how do parents get involved in the home preparation and home-based education of their children? The results of the research concern mainly the fact whether the respondents experience their role rather as supporting the autonomy of the child or rather as monitoring and controlling one, and the connected consequences. Further more they concern the coping strategies the mothers used in order to cope with the difficult situation of the home-based distance education of their children during the covid-19 pandemic and the ways of a direct or an indirect parents' involvement in the home preparation and distance education.
