History of the Jizera River in Mladá Boleslav region

The bachelor thesis is focused on the history of the Jizera river until 1880. The Jizera is a medium-sized Czech river. Its springs at the foot of the Jizera Mountains and in Lázně Toušeň flows into the Elbe, to whose basin it belongs. The thesis is devoted only to the section of the Jizera flowing through the district of Mladá Boleslav and deals with the relationship between the river and man in the course of history. In the first part, it examines the influence of the Jizera on the emergence of human settlement and infrastructure in Mladá Boleslav region, or on their subsequent development. It therefore focuses on how the physical-geographic conditions created by the river led to the construction of human settlements, trails, long-distance roads or some technical structures, while one of the chapters also deals with the question of how the Jizera River affected the leisure time of people living near it banks. The second part of the bachelor thesis deals with how human activity influenced or changed the flow of the river. It focuses on certain water works such as weirs, mill drives, dams and weir culverts. Dolní Vilémovice 1939-1945. A Czech Village under the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia The thesis deals with the destiny of Dolní Vilémovice, small village which lies in West Bohemia, during the Nazi occupation. It uses sources of local authorities and oral history to describe everyday life of Czech villagers throughout the Second World War. The village mentioned above was not chosen incidentally, as it is a birthplace of Jan Kubiš, one of czech soldiers who commited assassination attempt on Reinhard Heydrich. That is why this thesis also discusses the issue of German repressive measures against the local population, especially against Kubiš family, and anti-Nazi resistance.

Summary: This work is dedicated to phenomenon of summer apartments in the 1st half of 20th century,especialy to village Senohraby, which was used mainly as an example. This work tries to show means of spending free time in summer resorts and means of entertainment specifically in the surroundings of Prague, because of it's nearness to capital city.Important part of this work is dedicated to question, what sorts of guests were spending times in this summer resorts. And this work also wants to show some aspects of life before First World War and during 1.st republic in Czechoslovakia.
Bedřich Mendl (1892-1940). In a mirror of his correspondence

This bachelor's thesis was an analysis of family correspondence of Professor Bedřich Mendl. The thesis sought for everyday life of the Czech historian on his official journeys in both Czechoslovakia and abroad, where he searched in archives for Czech manuscripts. Bedřich Mendl was a Czech historiographer and the first professor of the Institute of Economic and Social History at the Faculty of Arts at Charles University. He was raised in Prague where he also met his future wife Eleonora during his studies. From 1916 to 1920, he worked in Hořice as a high school teacher. After his return to Prague in 1920, he became an employee of the State Editorial Institute. He started to teach at Charles University after he gained his venia docendi in 1927. Because of his Jewish origin, he was forced to leave the university in 1940. A few months later he committed a suicide.
Retirement home in Rozsochatec 1952-1956

This diploma thesis is a microhistorical case study into the field of regional history. It examines the work of the state institutional social care facility - Retirement home in the village Rozsochatec, where the nursing staff cared for the elderly and non-independent people. The staff consisted of nuns of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament and several laical helpers between 1952 and 1956. Moreover, the daily life was shaped by the presence of the Roman Catholic priest, as well as by the constant supervision of the district church secretary. The main purpose of this work is an insight into the everydayness of this specific social facility - medical and nursing care, supplying, meals, hygiene, home cleaning and, last but not least, leisure time, spiritual and political life inside the Retirement home are explored. In addition, the work deals with individual actors (social groups) and the chateau building in the village Rozsochatec, in which the social care institution was located. It describes the relationship of the socialist state to the nuns after 1948 and portray one small religious community. Village of Dobra Voda nearby Jablonec nad Nisou in 20 th Century. An Experimental Microhistorical Survey.

The introduction of the thesis includes a subchapter, which briefly mentions the history of the village before the 20th century; which is primarily researched. The thesis is further divided into three main chapters. The first of them introduces the population development of a Northbohemian village named Dobrá Voda u Jablonce nad Nisou in the 20th century. The second part examines the historical development of the village in the same period of time with considering the local history as well as the history of Czechoslovakia. This part of the thesis is always sectioned to a part concerning Dobrá Voda and to a contextual part solving bigger historical events and thein influence on the examined location. That is mostly represented by the major historical twists which set in during the 20th century. These are primarily the first world war, the establishment of Czechoslovakia, the beginning of Nazism, the second world war and the start of the communist dictatorship.
