Competencies of an ideal language teacher based on the subjective opinions of teachers and language learners
Jandová, Daniela ; Kříž, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Vaněček, David (referee)
This thesis deals with the current issue of strengthening and creating a competency model for private language teachers. At the present time, it is a very frequently discussed topic in the teacher community, especially given that the requirements for the profession are not specifically defined. Therefore, foreign language teachers often shape their own perception of necessary qualifications of a private language teacher. The aim of this thesis is to develop a competency model of an ideal language teacher based on the subjective opinions of the teachers themselves and language learners and to raise awareness of the requirements for the profession. The theoretical part first describes the position of language education in the context of lifelong learning, then it deals with the issue of competencies with a focus on the language teacher and last but not least it revolves around the language learner. A section is also devoted to the current state of knowledge and the results of research studies on the competencies of language teachers both in Czech and foreign context. The empirical part is based on semi-structured interviews with private language teachers and private language learners from four different age categories. The aim is to describe how students and teachers themselves perceive the ideal...
Competences of nurses caring for pediatric patients in the surgery of practitioner for children and adolescents
TATEROVÁ, Kateřina
The work of a nurse in a general practitioner's office for children and adolescents is very diverse. The nurse is primarily involved in primary care, which is a set of activities related to health promotion, prevention, investigation, treatment, rehabilitation and, last but not least, nursing. Her other responsibilities include monitoring and evaluating the child's psychomotor development, thus creating a stimulating environment for healthy development. In the course of her work, the nurse takes on the role of administrator, care coordinator, educator, nurse, team player, organizer and above all communicator. The first objective of this study was to determine the competencies of nurses working in a general practitioner's office for children and adolescents. The second aim was to find out the attitude of nurses towards increasing their competencies in caring for paediatric patients in a general practitioner's office for children and adolescents. The third aim was to find out what barriers nurses perceive in the application of their competencies in the paediatric and adolescent practice. The practical part of the bachelor's thesis was prepared using a qualitative research method. We used the questionnaire method and the semi-structured interview technique to collect data. The research population consisted of ten nurses working in general practitioner's offices for children and adolescents from the South Bohemia region with different lengths of experience. After transcribing the interviews with the respondents verbatim, we analyzed the results using the open coding method of pencil and paper, where we established seven categories: Workload of nurses, Professional competencies, Increasing nurses' competencies, Adding competencies, Barriers to the application of new competencies, Performing tasks not falling within competencies, Education. The results are summarized in the individual tables and diagrams in the empirical part of this thesis. The survey shows that the most frequently used professional competences of nurses in the general practitioner's office for children and adolescents are vaccinations, checking physiological functions and taking biological material. Nurses' attitudes towards increasing their competencies were predominantly positive. Only two respondents indicated that they would not add any new competencies. The new competencies that the respondents would welcome are sampling and swabs without a doctor's office, administration, basic physical examination, prescribing chronic medications, diabetes education, and wound healing education. The barriers perceived by nurses to exercising their competencies with the pediatric and adolescent general practitioner included limited office hours, overflow patients, and the physician. The remaining seven respondents answered that they did not perceive any barriers. We believe that this bachelor thesis could serve as an overview of the interest of nurses to increase their competencies and as a study material for health professionals and the general public for orientation in the given issue, as well as an overview of the workload of nurses working in the general practitioner's office for children and adolescents.

In the theoretical part I deal with the examination of pre-hospital emergency care systems and it´s structures along with professional and legal aspects of paramedic education in these countries. This theses dedicates special atenttion to examining historical aspects of the development of both republics and its similarities and differences regarding health care systems, rescue systems and the conditions these systems have on its workers. Another key point this theses is focused on is the education level of paramedics which creates the base for the differences in competencies. In the practical part the Bachelor thesis examines the current knowledge of rescue systems, which has a significant influence on the security and work conditions ot the Czech and Latvian medical rescuers. This is mainly a comparison of the geographical and social influences, organisational and regulatory factors, the conditions of operating security for the two health emergency services. In addition, an assessment is made of the approaches and differences in the practical application of the integrated rescue system standards In line with established research issues, this thesis focuses mainly on the comparasion of competencies of medical rescuers and the way in which pre-hospital care is provided in the Czech Republic and in Latvia, which will be carried out by an analysis of the interviews, decisive legal norms, regulations, analytical and methodological documents in the field of health care and medical rescue services in both Republics. The results of the examination shall be supported by the personal knowledge of the processor obtained during the course of the study practice at the Riga Medical Emergency Service during the February-April 2022 period. This work points out, by comparing the practice in the Czech Republic and the Republic of Latvia, the possibilities of enriching the process of training future medical rescues by the wider introduction of practical teaching throughout the course of higher education. The results of the work can be used for presentation at conferences, and to familiarize executives and trainers with the views of health rescuers
Awareness of the risk of paracetamol intoxication in the lay and professional population
HAVELKOVÁ, Barbora
The bachelor's thesis addresses awareness of the risks of paracetamol intoxication in the lay and professional population. Paracetamol is a very popular over-the-market drug. However, few are aware of the risks associated with improper use. At the same time, the thesis examines the knowledge and opinions of general nurses in the area of proper use of drugs containing paracetamol, the education of patients, and increasing competencies in the prescription of over-the-counter drugs. The theoretical part describes the issue of paracetamol intoxication, the group of drugs in which paracetamol is found, and, last but not least, the increase in competencies of the aforementioned prescription of over-the-market drugs, both in the Czech Republic and abroad. The objectives of the thesis were achieved by combining quantitative and qualitative research surveys. The quantitative investigation was carried out in the form of online questionnaires intended for the public. The qualitative investigation conducted a semi-structured interview with nurses working both in the hospital and in the ambulate sphere. The semi-structured interview mapped nurses' knowledge of the risks of paracetamol intoxication and views on increasing competencies in prescribing free medications. The results of the research survey show that the professional population (nurses) are oriented towards the risks of intoxication with paracetamol. Although the lay population does not know the recommended maximum daily dose of paracetamol, it knows the drugs that contain paracetamol.
