Analysis of Documents on Czech Political System Education (Bachelor thesis) Author: Jakub Černý Abstract: The bachelor thesis analyzes a Czech educational curriculum and text books on a Czech political system which are intended for secondary schools and grammar schools. The thesis wants to answer questions how these documents inform about the Czech political system and whether these documents keep a constitutional scheme and whether these documents can contribute to making misconceptions of the Czech political system.
Roma pupils and the civic education on practical primary schools

The diploma thesis deals the phenomenon of education of Roma children in the system of special elementary education. The aim of the thesis is to capture the specifics of this education focusing on the analysis of the civic education on primary practical schools in context of relationships to Roma pupils. The theoretical part is focused on the current situation of the Roma minority in the Czech republic. The work briefly describes the history of the Roma minority and the current situation of Roma people in the modern society. Most attention is paid to the Czech primary educational system, especially teaching Roma pupils on practical primary schools. The work briefly deals with the current changes in the educational system, so called inclusive education too. The practical part is focused on the methodology of the multicultural education themes, on the second degree of an elementary practical school in Vimperk.

Předložená diplomová práce se zabývá subkulturou krajní pravice ve Svobodném státě - pojednáno v multidisciplinárním kontextu, práce vysvětluje důvod také využívá politologické roviny, vymezuje pojem pravicového extremismu a ukazuje jeho rávní úrovni je rozvedena reakce státu ve formě legislativních a represivních opatření. V kontextu občanského vzdělávání jsou prezentovány instituce a aktéři, kteří v Sasku na tomto poli působí s cílem eliminovat pravicový extremismus ve společnosti. Text rovněž definuje, jak velké nebezpečí subkultura ve společnosti představuje. Vláda se snaží s pravicovým extremismem vypořádat, i když se žádná politická strana nedostává přímo do parlamentu. Jde především o hrozbu společenskou spočívající v páchání trestné činnosti, schopnosti mobilizace a tvoření chybných ideologických přesvědčení. Stát chce primárně svoje občany chránit před kriminální činností, vzdělávat je a rozvíjet demokratické uvědomění, přičemž systém občanského vzdělávání Spolkové republiky Německo je celosvětově považován za vzor, jelikož se obor po druhé světové válce stal díky specifickému vnímání pravicového extremismu součástí německé identity

Regionalistic Issues in textbooks of Civic Education after 1989 Summary This thesis focuses on civic education textbooks in the period after 1989 to the present. It includes recapitulation of the development of civic education as school subject and of the regional approach too. Contains a list of all the civics textbooks authorized the Ministry of Education for use in primary schools and grammar schools, including textbooks for pupils with special educational needs. The main topic of this thesis is to analyze the status of regionalist curriculum in basic education, while focusing on the 2nd degree and equivalent years of grammar school. In this context, it recapitulated the last major curriculum change in the Czech education system in the form of general educational program with emphasis on the status of regionalist curriculum. The last purpose of the work and its practical aspect is the identification and analysis of the historical homeland of the current contents of civics textbooks, its comparison with the current state of historical knowledge and pointing out the frequent historical inaccuracies and stereotypes, which are topics of regional history in the historical content of the curriculum of civics occur. The conclusion is devoted to recommendations which will be used in the creation of civics textbooks.

Eliška Bucvanová. Diplomová práce. Citizenship - Theoretical Bases and Teaching Practice ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH Weak civil society can be seen as a possible drawback of Czech democracy. One of the possible ways of building it is citizenship education provided within the compulsory school system. Citizenship is also the main subject of this work, which uses qualitative research methods to find out how the concept of "citizenship" is understood by teachers at a selected primary school, what information they provide to pupils on this subject and how. Since the scope of the paper would be insufficient, it does not intend to map the state of citizenship education in the Czech Republic: its aim is to find out how teachers approach the subject and whether their opinions coincide, and to compare their views with the information contained in literature. The results of the work show that the selected school is at a comparatively high level; however, the teachers' attitudes to citizenship education and its aims lack consistency and comprehensiveness and, also, the pupils' knowledge highly varies. This can be due to the fact that citizenship education has long been in need of an integrated approach and, very probably, also training opportunities for teachers that would help them develop their professional skills. The thesis titled Transformations of view on the teaching of social sciences from 1989 (in selected specialized journals) discusses the history and development of social science disciplines. The thesis is divided into two parts theoretical and practical. The theoretical part describes brief development of the Czech education from the perspective of teaching social sciences from 1774 to 2014. This section is divided into two parts the first shows the development of education from 1774 to 1989; the second section is dedicated to the development of teaching civic education after 1989. Diploma thesis reflects significant milestones in the historical development and transformation of civic education. The practical part is focused on the analysis of the view of the teaching of social sciences since 1989 and the capture of various effords, trends and changes reflected in specialized journals. In this thesis was used the method of analysis and comparison of theoretical expertise and popular educational texts. The most recent and most frequent topics of social sciences, which were discussed in specialized journals, were ethical education, media education, sex education and multicultural education. The thesis shows both opinions of experts and educators and the views of students and their parents.
Transformations textbooks civic education at the turn of the 80th and 90th 20 century

This thesis deals with the analysis of curricula, plans, civic education textbooks and civic education in the late eighties and nineties of the 20th century. The aim of this work is to analyze the today's approach to teaching civic education in the establishment of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and change of it before and after the revolution of 1989 by establishing a democratic regime. The work involves the analysis of textbooks and curricula from this period. The work is divided into two parts which are loosely linked. In the theoretical part of the thesis, there is the general definition of school textbooks, which are recorded features, concepts, structures, meanings, status, research and research methods according to various educational authors who dealt with analysis of school textbooks. This section is of narrower extent complemented by a variety of observations and comments of author. The practical part of the thesis is based on a detailed analysis of textbooks and curriculum of civic education that is embedded in the space of two historical periods of our country, at the turn of ending socialism and emerging democracy. The work focuses on the individual thematic subject which is then incorporated into the teaching curriculum of the elementary school years by the author. Here examines the appropriateness, timing and similarity teaching materials during the period of socialism with a democratic system of our state. Research component consists of a questionnaire survey work, where the former teachers are asked and current civic education. There are recorded difficulties of teachers and complicated transformation of the subject of the socialist epoch to the present democracy, referred to herein examines the issue of textbooks and curricula. In the practical part, the descriptive part analyzes composition of textbooks, curriculum demands for student motivation and graphic form of textbooks, educational goals and the interpretation of textbook materials for pupils.
Civic education in foreign policy: German example

The first chapter describes the concept of soft power and public diplomacy. The second part deals with the system of civic education in Germany and characterises one of its important actors -- the political foundations. It mainly focuses on their activities abroad, which are evaluated in the third part in terms of their influence on Germany's soft power. This thesis also deals with the foundation's rank as an actor of German public diplomacy.
