Comparation of posture of the body of overweight and obese people and problems associated with it.
Telska, Viktorie ; Křivánková, Markéta (advisor) ; Nováková, Pavlína (referee)
Title: Comparation of posture of the body of overweight and obese people and problems associated with it Objectives: The aim of the bachelor thesis is to compare the differences in posture between people suffering from overweight and obesity and to compare the difficulties associated with posture in these two groups. Methods: The method of determining the BMI value and the method of bioelectric impedance analysis of the body using the Tanita weight was used to determine the exact sample of probands and to divide them into the category of overweight and obesity. Furthermore, methods of evaluation of posture according to Jaroš and Lomíček, according to Klein, Thomas and Mayer and Trendelenburger's test were used. Lastly, a questionnaire survey method was used to identify difficulties in overweight and obese probands. Results: The results indicate a higher prevalence of wrong posture in obese probands compared to overweight probands. The incidence of musculoskeletal disorders was comparable in both groups of probands. The incidence of other disorders was more common in obese probands on average. Keywords: posture, inbody, backache, body mass index
Body composition of the Czech national snowboardcross team
Hanko, Michal ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Kinkorová, Ivana (referee)
Title: Body composition of the Czech national snowboardcross team Objectives: The aim of this work is to measure and evaluate body composition as a factor influencing sports performance in the Czech snowboardcross team and comparison with relevant data of foreign authors. Methods: We evaluated body composition data using whole-body BIA analysis (Bodystat 1500 monofrequency analyzer in the field), anthropometric examination (height, weight) and waist-hip ratio, indicating the risk of cardiovascular disease. At the same time, we recorded the age and length of training of snowboarders. We used statistical operations (arithmetic mean, standard deviation, minima and maxima, statistical and material significance) for data analysis. We also compared the data with the relevant results of national teams of Italy and the USA (Vernillo et al., 2016; Sands et al., 2021) and data from the untrained population (Schutz et al., 2002; Abe et al., 2018). Results: We found that the average BMI of the Czech national team in snowboarding is 24.49 ± 1.8 kg/m2 (men) and 23.95 ± 0.94 kg/m2 (women). The mean WHR is 0.8 ± 0.03 (males) and 0.72 ± 0.04 (females). The Czech representatives significantly (p ˂ 0.05) and materially (d ≥ 0.8) differ significantly from the untrained population in FFMI values of 21.6 ± 1.1 kg/m2...
Ways and means to reduce weight and increase physical fitness.
Gazdík, Ladislav ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Malá, Lucia (referee)
Title: Ways and means to reduce weight and increase physical fitness. Goals: To create an exercise program and a dietary plan for men at the age from 30 to 45. Methods: Analyzing the expert literature searched mostly in printed form or online. Results: Very important is a ratio between energy intake and expenditure. If you want to reduce weight, the energy expenditure must be bigger than the energy intake, it is called negative energy balance. The most important factors are physical activity and diet. Keywords: obesity, weight reduction, Body Mass Index
The relation between morphological and personality traits in humans
Sýkorová, Kateřina ; Flegr, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Třebický, Vít (referee)
In humans, as in animals, associations or correlations between morphological and personality traits can be observed. Some of the most conspicuous and well describable morphological traits in humans are eye color, hair color, body height and body mass index (BMI). These traits can correlate not only with temperament or character, but also, for example, with intelligence. Relations between morphology and personality can have an origin on a genetic or an environmental level. The human psyche, which can be influenced by social factors, can also have a role in the chain of causes and consequences. In this study, known relations between morphological traits and personality are discussed and mechanisms which could be responsible for these relations are mentioned. This study also focuses on the possible role of the environment which could explain some associations between the traits. Further, there is an attempt to identify environmental factors contributing to the morphological and personality traits which could therefore be a cause of some correlation between these traits.
Obesity reduction by help of regime arrangement (movement and diet).
Dehner, Jiří ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Kovářová, Lenka (referee)
Supervisor: Prof. Ing. Václav Bunc, CSc. Title: Obesity reduction by help of regime arrangement (movement and diet). Goals: The main goal of my work is to analyze literature and specify the rules of weight reduction using physical activity and dietary measures. Methods: Search of expert literature and texts, both in print and online. Results: The decisive cause of obesity is disbalance between energy intake and expenditure. The most important factor influencing energy balance is physical activity and diet. The program must respect individual's current physical fitness and past exercise experience and must engage broad muscle groups. Intervention with physical activity must be consulted with obesity specialist if BMI is greater than 35 kg/mš. Keywords: obesity, Body Mass Index, energy balance
Obesity and type 1 diabetes mellitus
Zábranská, Klára ; Matoulek, Martin (advisor) ; Sadílková, Aneta (referee)
Even though patients with the diabetes mellitus type 1 disease were considered slim individuals, the occurrence of overweight and obesity is a more common issue which is not given enough attention. Thus, the topic of obesity, diabetes mellitus, the unheatlhy obese individuals with the diabetes mellitus dissease is becoming more current. The goal of the bachelor thesis is to collect basic data, evaulate compensation of diabetes mellites and to compare BMI of tracked patients with the mellitus type 1 diagnosis, who visited the diabetic department in the span of one month: 1. - 30. November 2019 versus general population. The data were collected from doctors' documents of the patients. One of the monitored parameters was the presence of overweight and obesity with the patients. The theoretical part of the thesis provides basic information about the diabetes mellitus following information about obesity. The final chapter connects these two diseases. The practical part of the thesis consists of a provision of the basic information of the group of patients, a comparison of BMI between the followed sample and general population, a compartion of t HbA1c (glycated hemoglobin) between patients with CGM/FGM (a sensor for continual monitoring of glycemia) and those without it, a comparison of medial BMI (body...
Health determinants and self-perceived life expectancy
Dvořáková, Eliška ; Rychtaříková, Jitka (advisor) ; Kurtinová, Olga (referee)
Health determinants and self-perceived life expectancy Abstract The bachelor thesis addresses the relationship between selected determinants for people aged 65 and over, and the statements about their self-perceived health, in 2014. EHIS and EU-SILC surveys were used as source information. Selected health determinants belong to lifestyle factors and therefore can be influenced by one's behaviour. These determinants include body mass index, smoking habits and alcohol drinking. The thesis is based on an international comparison of selected health determinants and mortality indicators obtained from Eurostat data on the 28 member states of the European Union. Keywords: health determinants, self-perceived health, body mass index, smoking habits, alcohol drinking, EU28
Prevalence of overweight and obesity among secondary school students in České Budějovice
HRŮŠOVÁ, Nikola
The thesis is focused on the prevalence of overweight secondary school students' and obesity in České Budějovice. The text contains a brief description of the characteristic of obesity and methods for its prevention, influencing factors, consequences and options for a cure. The main part of the thesis summarises data based on the anthropometric measuring of first and second year high-school students from four local high-schools, which contained their age, height and weight at birth, current height and weight, and hip and waist circumferences. The exact BMI (body mass index) was calculated through anthropometric measuring. Afterwards,BMI results were compared with percentile BMI charts, in each case done separately for boys and girls. This research took place between January and mid-March 2016.
The optimal body weight
HAIT, Martin
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to determine the optimal body weight of an individual. This bachelor thesis is a summary of knowledge about optimal body weight. This is a preview of the issue of the assessment of physical constitution. The bachelor thesis contains knowledge about nutrition, physical activity, diseases, socio-cultural requirements for physical appearance, body somatotype, body image and psyche. These days, Body Mass Index (BMI) is used to determine optimal body weight. The aim of this work is to emphasize that BMI is not an appropriate tool for assessing optimal body weight. When determining the optimal body weight, more factors should be included instead of just height and weight. It is necessary to also include body constitution when determining the optimal body weight. The thesis emphasizes the differences of professional sport. Some athletes' physique does not correlate with optimal body weigh defined by requirements of society, yet these athletes aren't considered obese. Professional sport isn't truly about optimal body weight, it's more about achieving physique which allows the athlete to give the best performance. Bachelor thesis should enlighten the issue of body weight to the specialists and the public.
