This project is about studying geographic information system ArcGIS. It focuses on possibilities of extending ArcGIS by custom extensions and method of their programming. Furthermore some basic tools of raster analysis are ilustrated. This project's main objective is to design and implement custom implementation of ArcGIS extension, which provides a set of tools for raster analysis. Design is inspired by an existing extension - Spatial Analyst developed by ESRI.

Verbal Periphrases for expressing passive resultation in a contrastive perspective.

The subject of this diploma thesis are periphrastic means for expressing passive resultativeness in a contrastive perspective. The theoretical part describes Spanish verbal periphrasis from the point of view of Czech and Spanish linguists. It states the standards and types of the periphrasis and it focuses on periphrasis with the meaning of passive resultativeness. It also deals with the way of expressing Aktionsart in Czech and Spanish language; therefore, it describes perfective and imperfective aspect. The aim of the practical part is to analyse the possibilities of translation of the Spanish passive resultative verbal periphrasis into Czech language in texts of fiction and in journalistic texts using the Czech corpus tool InterCorp.

Biaspectual verbs in Russian and Czech

This master's thesis deals with biaspectual verbs in Russian and Czech language. The theoretical part is divided into two main chapters. The first one provides short overview of main areas of aspectological research. Individual subchapters explain and describe basic aspectological concepts - aspect, aspectual pair, aktionsart etc, their functional features and mechanisms of creating aspectual pairs. The second theoretical chapter is devoted to the phenomenon of biaspectuality. It presents different approaches to the nature of biaspectuality and issues of classification of biaspectual verbs. It also maps statistical data about biaspectual verbs in Russian and Czech and describes dynamics of their development. The practical part represents a contrastive analysis of 50 Russian and 50 Czech biaspectual verbs. Main goal was to explore functioning of biaspectual verbs in Russian and Czech, find their new potential aspectual partners, examine mechanisms of their creating and determine extent of their semantic overlap with original borrowed biaspectual verbs, using selected electronic corpuses, the internet and own examples. Tense-aspect-mood marking in Turkish: Case analysis of -ecek/-acak

The goal of the submitted paper is analysis of Turkish verbal morpheme -ecek/acak. This morpheme is described and classified by different scholars in various ways (as tense, aspect, or modality), language usage being used scarcely in the description. The presented thesis proposes to perform a corpus study on empirical data, that are interpreted by qualitative methods, and on this basis the author will propose new ways to describe the morpheme. From the methodological perspective will be used the analytical potential of Construction Grammar. The main goal of this paper is to summarize existing literature about this morpheme, evaluate the descriptive adequacy of the traditional description, and eventually suggest description, that would reflect its langauge usage. Use of aorist, imperfect and perfect in Czech prose in the middle of the 14th century

This thesis deals with the use of the aorist and imperfect tenses and the periphrastic preterite in four Old Czech prosaic translated texts dated back to the beginning of the 2nd half of the 14th century. Analyzed texts are the part of the first edition of the Old Czech translation of the Bible (part of the Dresden Bible completed with the text of Proroci rožmberští (Prophets of Rožmberk), the Legend of St. Wenceslaus from The Old Czech Passional, The Apocalypse of Paul and two chapters of the text O svatém Jeronýmovi knihy troje. We deal with the percentual occurence of the verb forms under investigation and with the aspectual characteristics of the verbs of which the investigated forms are constructed. Also their relationship to the Latin pretext is examined. The acquired results are presented in tables and graphs. This thesis also includes an electronic database of the investigated verbal forms.

The Specifics of Teaching Czech for Greek Native Speakers

(English) This master thesis deals with specific approach to Greek native speakers whilst teaching Czech as foreign language. On the basis of typological comparison of Czech with Modern Greek it seeks similarities and differences between those two languages and draws conclusions for teaching. This paper also concerns with concepts of grammar, teaching methods and presentation of selected grammatical categories from the didactics point of view. The practical part of the thesis proceeds from the research focused on Modern Greek verbal system and suggests that one of the alternatives how to teach the category of aspect to Greek native speakers is using temporal-aspectual markers. The purpose of this thesis is to provide Czech teachers with linguodidactic recommendations facilitating teaching students of Greek origin.

On the use of the progressive in the modern German language

This bachelor thesis is concerned with the use of progressive form in the contemporary German language. The first part gives a definition of the progressive form and compares its description in the existing (and mostly newest) grammar books. It also deals with other related topics such as the category of aspect. In spite of the fact that the progressive form appears in both contemporary spoken and written German, it has been widely discussed whether it belongs to the standard language or not. The second part is based on a corpus analysis (DeReKo and DWDS) and investigates the use of progressive form by means of several examples. In addition, the thesis aims at resolving the status of the progressive form in the German language. It inclines to the view that the progressive form belongs to the standard contemporary German which should be reflected by the standard-setting instances accordingly.

Verbal Periphrases Expressing the Termination of Verbal Action

The topic of the bachelor thesis is Verbal periphrases with the meaning of the end of the verbal process. The work contains the theoretical part where the author particularly underlines basic definitions of the verbal periphrasis including the criteria for their determination and their classifications from several Spanish linguists´ point of view. These linguists also classify verbal periphrases with the meaning of the end of the verbal process, which is the main topic of this work. The practical part aims for finding this type of verbal periphrases in various types of texts and analysing their translation by Czech translators with the use of Czech corpus InterCorp. This bachelor thesis includes Spanish résumé and it is written in Czech.
