Les Salons: Denis Diderot's art criticism

This work focuses on analysis of Denis Diderot's Salons, the comparison of their individual parts and their development. These writings are still very important for understanding the art of the 18th century. Moreover, they are also examples of a distinctive contribution of Diderot as critic combining aesthetic, ethical and philosophical scales. The work pays attention to the conditions of genesis of Salons, but mainly deals with literary criticism as a genre that the philosopher created and continually improved over the years. An important part is the analysis of author's way of discourse about individual painters (specifically Greuze, Chardin and Fragonard) and how it is often changing over time.
Prague sculpture exhibitions 1898 - 1916. A contribution to the theme of gallery sculpture presentation

Jana Cermanová Prague sculpture exhibitions 1898 - 1916 A contribution to the theme of gallery sculpture presentation Dissertation synopsis Sculpture as an artistic discipline experienced a dynamic rise in the Czech lands at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. This followed the much admired example of France, where Charles Morice, referencing Rodin and his pupils, asserted the dominance of modern sculpture over painting in 1910. Thanks in large part to major art world figure and educator J. V. Myslbek, the Czech lands also saw the development of a highly ambitious group of sculptors poised to address a growing social demand for monumental works (particularly memorials) that recaptured the city's public space. Sculptors worked on architectural commissions for decorative sculptures and on orders for funerary objects, which guaranteed them an income and enabled them to pursue their own creative work. However, it was chiefly this "flood of monuments" that attracted public attention to sculptors and garnered them social prestige. Sculptors became more deeply involved in art events and played a major role in addressing contemporary art world issues. The Art Journal Ateliér from the fondation to the present time

This diploma thesis "The Art Journal Ateliér from its foundation to the present" goes into the semimonthly art-oriented Ateliér magazine being issued from 1988 to December 2015. The work looks about historical context of period 1980 and 1990 until the first decade of the new millennium. The thesis, in detail, is focused on Ateliér magazine publishing in years 1988, 1989, 1990, 1992, 2000 and 2008. The most detailed there are analyzed years 2012 and 2015, the crucial years, in light of magazine financial crisis. In 2010 the magazine got into financial trouble that culminated at at the end of 2015, the time the periodical had made a request for liquidation. 1. January 2016 the magazine entered into liquidation. In all surveyed years the attention is focused on the editorial staff, the graphic design and the semimonthly Ateliér magazine content. The most detailed is the magazine analyzed in 2012 and 2015 by using the analyses of all authorial texts there, there will be presented story writers contents from among the editorial staff and externals who had participated in both editions. An attention is paied to those authors writting in the periodicals,on how many there were in total and on how many times they wrote in the magazine in one year. Jaroslav Špillar (1869-1917) and folklorism in Czech fine art

The aim of this thesis is to make a clear reflection of folklorism in the Czech Art Nouveau painting at the turn of 19th and 20th century. This era is characterized by the effort of artists to follow the development in western art as well as to find their own Czech way to the modern art. The establishment of new societies of art and the impact of art critics - leading personalities of cultural life - is another feature of this period. The last quarter of 19th century is the time connected with the national revival era, when the folk culture is seen as pure and original. The culmination of so called "ethnographic movement" is the Czech-Slavonic Ethnographical Exhibition which took place in Prague in 1895. This event was the main reason for the fact that many artist suddenly started to feel sympathies for the folk topics even though in the past they were interested in different themes. In the middle of these two tendencies: desire to follow the western development and the attempt to find an inspiration in folk culture, grew the work of so called "regional painters". This thesis aims to characterize this phenomenon and to exemplify it on the basis of artwork of selected regional artists. Art criticism in magazine Dílo (1903-1949) Abstract Bachelor thesis Art criticism in magazine Dílo (1903-1949) deals with critical texts published monthly in journal Dílo, the magazine of "Jednota umělců výtvarných" society in the years 1903- 1949. In chronologically arranged chapters are the selected texts analysed, compared with texts from the rival journals, set in the context of contemporary artistic disputes and the chapters are completed with basic information about editorial staff and thematic focus of the magazine Dílo. In conclusion there is outlined an overall picture of the art criticism in magazine Dílo, its orientation, transformations, value and influence on the art scene in the first half of the 20th century.

Post internet art within the galleries

This thesis deals with contemporary art movement called post internet, its forms and its presentation within the gallery spaces. The emphasis is based on a complex description of its topics, mailny the problems of its presentation, the corporate aestetics, the radical identification and the post human body. The third chapter describes the transfer of the art from the internet into the gallery spaces and its methods. The last part of this text is then devoted to the Czech post internet art scene and to the negative impact of the internet on the sociaty and the art.
The concepts of the right art and their development in the time of coming abstraction in the USA

The question of the existence of the right art has been solved by many theorists and artists themselves. The first half of the twentieth century was affected by the coming world wars, Nazism and socialism. The establishment of avant-garde was associated with it and new movements tried to confront such society. Along with avant-garde artistic critics appeared, those who more or less influenced artists themselves. Theories of Friedrich Nietzsche, Theodor Adorno, Jean Francois Lyotard, Clement Greenberg and Leo Steinberg are different, but are also consistent with the fundamental thing. That is the desire for a change and accuracy of art. The first two authors think that the right art was already there, but it was destroyed. Others are looking into present and future. In the shadow of modern technologies they try to find something that will be unique and original. These thoughts come to the imagination of unrepresent-able things and abstraction. Abstract Expressionism is a movement, which was originally established in the thirties in the USA. Along with it, the art center moved from Paris to New York.
