Czechoslovak dissent as a learning society

The diploma thesis is dealing with the problematics of Czechoslovak/Czech dissent, especially in the years from 1977 to 1989 and with its position as a learning society on its own. In the text, the status of dissent in the general society is described and followed, along with the ostracization of it, which ultimately led to a forming of a parallel polis, which included both parallel educational and cultural systems. Those were based on transmitting and sharing knowledge and skills inside of the community. Considering many activities performed by dissent organizations, the thesis takes interest mainly in four educational and cultural structures: home seminars, home theatre, samizdats and so-called festival of the second culture, both personally and organizationally bonded to Charter 77. These activites are not perceived only from the cultural history perspective, but more importantly with the help of andragogy and learning society concept. In conclusion, the thesis will focus on such specific educational and cultural topics and not only its impact on the parallel polis of dissent, but on the society in general, as well. Motivation and Needs of Education of Participants in Courses of Further Education of Pedagogical Staff

The diploma thesis deals with the motivation and educational needs of teaching staff, specifically primary school teachers, within the framework of continuing professional education courses. The work also deals with the barriers to further education experienced by these workers. Further education of teaching staff enables teaching staff to deepen or expand their qualifications, which is essential for the further performance of their profession. Factors influencing the motivation for such education can be quite diverse and result from the individual educational needs and attitudes of specific individuals. Analysis and identification of these educational needs is important for planning and subsequent implementation of educational activities. The aim of this thesis was to find out what motivates primary school teachers to further professional education, what educational needs they feel and what barriers they perceive in further professional education. Comparison of selected educational platforms

The rigorous thesis is an extension of the diploma thesis of the same name and deals with the comparison of selected educational platforms. Its aim is to analyze the selected online platforms and their functions with regard to the possibility of incorporating modern teaching methods in adult education. The theoretical part is based on the literature search and other available sources and defines the concepts related to the issue, which are andragogy, adult education methods and online education. It also presents current trends and goals of education in the Czech Republic and the European Union. The theoretical part concludes with a summary of the important theoretical background from which the research part of the thesis draws. In view of the need for a detailed examination of the selected platforms, a qualitative research strategy and a content analysis method were chosen. An interview method was additionally chosen. The online learning platforms explored were Knowspread, Thinkific, Miro and BigBlueButton. For the purpose of the rigorous analysis, their course design features were characterized and presented. Idea of Self-Directed Learning from the Andragogical View

Diploma thesis focuses on the idea of self-directed learning from the perspective of andragogy. The main goal of this work is to characterize and describe self-directed learning among students at a selected pedagogical fakulty. The sececondary goal is to compare the process of self-directed learning from the perspective of students in the full-time and combined forms of study at the selected pedagogical fakulty. The work is divided into theoretical and empirical parts. The theorical part initially deals with the importance of lifelong learning and education, followed by an andragogical backgroud, whitch summarizes the basic andragogical concepts, the historical aspect of andragogy and didactics of adult education. An important subchapter of the teoretical part is Knowles' theory of adult education. The last and key chapter of the theoretical part deals with the historical and philosophical aspect of self- directed learning, defines the concept of self-directed learning, and outlines its challenges. The Educational Role of the Václav Havel Library

The thesis deals with the educational role of the Václav Havel Library, i.e. its role in the field of adult education. There are several objectives of the thesis. In addition to introducing the library, analysing and characterising the cultural and civic impact of this institution on adult individuals who have attended at least five educational events in a one-year period, it is also to identify its impact on the development of democratic culture. The thesis also characterises the civic education of adults and their civic competences and describes the role of the Václav Havel Library within the framework of cultural andragogy, a field that is both approached and described in its historical context and through contemporary means. The aim of cultural andragogy is to support adults in acquiring cultural values and meeting the needs of self- realisation. Other cultural institutions involved in civic and leisure education of adults have an essential place in this thesis. The above objectives are linked in the research part and analysed through interviews and open coding method to show the effect of the activities of the Václav Havel Library on the visitors. The work presented is focused on the study motivation regarding U3V. The main goal of this work is to examine the most common types of motivation of seniors in relation to the U3V study programme and to compare them with aspects which could potentially influence the overall motivation. This shall be achieved via research. Furthermore, this work is also focused on the problematic of motivation as a separate topic and as such deals with the already existing theory of motivation and attempts to use these as a learning ground for determining what the actual motivation to study the U3V programme is. Anotation This thesis analyses the process of learning of an adult person with disabilities. It focuses on the value of education as perceived by the society, and on the meaning of education for the life of an individual. The thesis presents the main paradigms in the field of adult education, especially education of persons with disabilities. The paradigms are based on requirements of life-long learning programs and of other scientific disciplines, dealing with education and guidance of adults. The thesis also gives the general characteristics of adult education as such and describes the main specifics of persons with disabilities.
