Attitude of teachers and parents toward inclusive education at Step by Step program

The topic of this graduate thesis is the inclusive education programme Step by Step. More specifically, the work focuses on the attitude of the involved teachers and parents to this phenomenon. The theoretical bases are focused on the definition of the terminologically unclear terms of inclusion and integration, they outline their historical and legislative development as well as the overall intention and summarize the main components which influence its high-quality course. One part of the thesis also focuses on the characteristics of the participants and the base of this education, and also on the psychological aspects influencing the attitude of an individual. Last but not least, the work also deals with the programme Step by Step, with the summary of its inclusive principals and comparison of the publication: Kompetentní učitel 21. století: Mezinárodní profesní rámec kvality ISSA (2011) s dokumentem Profil inkluzivního učitele (Evropská agentura, 2012). Comparison of Family and Kindergarten's Cooperation in conception of main educational stream and of Step by Step

The author compares approaches to co-operation with the family as applied in mainstream kindergartens and alternative kindergartens with the Step by Step programme. The thesis aims to determine the extent to which the forms and intensity of communication and co-operation between family and kindergarten differ depending on the kindergarten's educational programme, and identify the strengths and weaknesses of mutual communication. In the theoretical section, the author outlines the importance of co-operation between family and kindergarten for the development of preschool children, the possible forms of such co-operation and the rules laid down by applicable legal regulations and curricular documents, and describes how this co- operation is understood in the Step by Step programme. In the empirical section, the author uses a mixed research strategy combining quantitative and qualitative research to answer the research questions. Data for the research were collected through a questionnaire survey, where the respondents included teachers and parents of children attending selected Prague-based mainstream kindergartens and kindergartens with the Step by Step programme. Implementation of ulticultural education in the Step by Step program in primary education

This diploma thesis focuses on implementation of multicultural education in the Step by Step program in primary education. The theoretical part is divided into three chapters. The first one defines the basic concepts that apply to multicultural education. In addition, it also mentions officially recognised national minorities in the Czech Republic and the evolution of the number of foreigners residing on or territory. Further this chapter explains prejudice and stereotypes. The second chapter focuses on multicultural education as one of the cross-section modules in Framework Czech Educational Program. In this part, the thesis characterizes the cross-section theme and describes the thematic circuits and possible approaches to teaching. The third chapter discusses the educational program Step by Step and details its core parts. In the practical part of the work, qualitative research is described in detail, carried out with the fifth grade of Elementary School Petřiny - Sever, which follows the educational program Step by Step. This diploma thesis deals with cooperation between family and school. The aim of the theoretical part is to analyse the primary foreign sources of the programme Step by Step in the domain of the cooperation between family and school, especially the programme HEAD START. Next aim is to compare the methods and forms of cooperation in the United States of America and the Czech Republic, especially in one elementary school. The practical part presents action research which is focused on the reflection of my own work experience. It describes and evaluates the cooperation between family and the school where the author of this diploma thesis works - the evaluation is based on the tool "Competent Educators of the 21st Century: ISSA's Definition of Quality Pedagogy". Kargerová, J., Ph.D. The diploma thesis is focused on the cooperation of family and school at the beginning of schooling. The theoretical part describes the school and the family as the institutions that have an irreplaceable position in a life of child. It offers a view into the history and its forms of cooperation and aims which were reached in compare with today's understanding of the child and childhood. It deals with 1989 and its events which influenced the politic, economic and pedagogic situation - the child is in the middle of the family a school attention. The education is innovated, reformatted and new laws together with some new school programmes are issued. The theoretical background is finished by a description of Začít spolu program, its brief characteristic and concrete forms of cooperation with families. The empiric part surveys the situation in an ordinary school and the school worked according to the Začít spolu program. It compares their elementary and secondary levels and it offers some recommendations for better family-school cooperation.
Geography teaching in alternative schools

This bachelor thesis presents the theme of geography teaching in alternative schools. The first part of the thesis contains theoretical bases, methodology, introduces with the aim of the thesis and presents specific schools, which were chosen. There are Montessori schools, Waldorfs schools and Step by Step schools. In the practical part, there is described qualitative research activities, that was carried out in schools like a method of participating observation on geography lessons, a method of semi-structured interviews with geography teachers and a method of focus groups of students. The diploma thesis deals with cooperation between family and school at the beginning of the education. The theoretical part is focused on the family and the school such as an educational institution. It describes a fixing cooperation between family and school in the obligatory documents for the education and represents principles and possible limits. It also deals with an expectaion and parent's and teacher's worries. It represents programmes and initiatives be supported to cooperation with school with family for example "Rodiče vítáni" and "Začít spolu". The empiric part deals with research, which watches a particular forms of cooperation the school with parents on the particular secondary school, mainly on the first school. The research is created by questionnaire, an interview and an observation.
Forms of Family and School Cooperation at the Beginning of School Attandance

This thesis focuses on forms of cooperation between family and school at the beginning of school attendance. The theoretical part defines family and school as educational institutions and traces the development of cooperation between these institutions. It shows current trends in cooperation between family and school using the elements of a strategy of innovative educational program Step by Step and project Parents welcome. It refers to the elements that affect mutual relations. At the beginning of the empirical part is first described the methodology of qualitative research. The main techniques used were observation, questioning and interviews with teaching staff and the parents of pupils at two schools - at the average primary school and at the school using the program Start together, which received a certificate Parents welcome. Partner reality was analyzed on the basis of a document Competent teacher of the 21st century: An international professional quality framework ISSA. The research identified the actual situation in each school, its benefits and weaknesses.
