(in English): The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to translate a part of the chapter Natural Forms from the book Renaissance Gothic. Architecture and the Arts in Northern Europe 1470 - 1540 written by Ethan Matt Kavaler, a Canadian professor of art history. In the commentary that follows the translation the author considers the specific factors that have influenced the genesis of the original. Then, she analyses its lexical and stylistic features and characterizes the text as an essay of considerable qualities. Drawing upon the analysis the author describes the translation problems and the translator's strategies employed to solve them. She attempts to identify the translation shifts and discusses the reasons of their occurrence. It is observed that the translation tends to be more explicit, uses more variable language solutions and some solutions of increased expressive intensity. This tendency is consistent with the effort to adapt the translation to the target language culture and to preserve the quality of the original.

Lenka Mundevová Translation of Colloquial Language Devices in Fiction: A Century of Maupassant's Ivrogne in Czech Translation Abstract The dissertation compares the stylization of the dialogues in the French original of Maupassant's short story Ivrogne (The Drunkard), written in 1884, with five Czech translations published between 1902 and 1997. The comparative analysis is focused on the devices of colloquial language, including dialect, which appear frequently in the dialogues of the story and prove to be extraordinarily useful when interpreting Maupassant's text. The analysis of the excerpted material is preceded by the description of the basic characteristics of colloquial French and Czech, followed by the description of their stratifications. The mutual relation of the colloquial language varieties is an important prerequisite for the evaluation of the translations of colloquial language devices and their appropriateness in the individual Czech versions of Ivrogne. The paper also deals with the development of Czech aesthetic translation standards and their relation to the standard of local fiction, outlining the important tendencies of Czech fiction translation applied when colloquial devices were conveyed from French to Czech during the specified timeframe. Christine Nöstlinger's " Wir pfeifen auf den Gurkenkönig" in Slovak translation

This paper analyses the Slovak translation of the book by Christine Nöstlinger Wir pfeifen auf den Gurkenkönig (The Cucumber King) by Katarína Hatalová. The analysis is based on three sources that deal with the theory of literary translation. Flaws identified in the translation are evaluated and suggestions for a new translation are made. Analysis of mutual interactions of the human multifactor complex components in translation initiation

A key task of translation initiation is to select a proper start codon. The start codon defines not only the position from which the protein translation is initiated but also the reading frame in which the protein sequence is decoded. The accuracy of start codon recognition is controlled by number of initiation factors (eIFs) and their mutual interactions. One of them, the largest, is called eukaryotic initiation factor 3 (eIF3). The exact mechanism by which eIF3 affects the accuracy of start codon recognition is not understood. Here, using CryoEM, formaldehyde gradient cross- linking and various biochemical methods, we elucidated contributions of individual human eIF3 subunits to this intricate process. In particular, my work and the work of our collaborators revealed that eIF3d promotes loading of eIF3 to the ribosome at the onset of initiation and that the minimalistic eIF3 subcomplex (YLC - for Yeast Like Complex) still preserves basic eIF3 functions, like formation of the 43S pre- initiation complex (PIC) and mRNA recruitment. Push: Translation and Stylistic Analysis of Selected Passages From the Novel

This bachelor's thesis aims to explore the unconventional register used in Sapphire's novel PUSH. The practical section of the thesis is dedicated to translating the first chapter and the final two paragraphs of the novel from the English language into the Czech language. The theoretical section of the thesis focuses on stylistic analysis of the translation, examining various textual elements such as register, vulgarisms, idiomatic expressions, and place names. The practical section also considers and explains the decisions made during the translation process. The thesis also includes chapters dealing with Sapphire's biography and a brief introduction to translation theory, discussing the theories of Jiří Levý, Dagmar Knittlová, Theodore Savory and Eugene Nida.

Constructions Verbonominales in Specialized Texts from the Contrastive Perspective (Czech and Spanish)

This master's thesis is called Verbonominal Constructions in Specialized Texts in Contrastive Perspective (Spanish-Czech) and its aim is to perform a contrastive analysis of verbonominal constructions in Spanish specialized texts. It consists of two parts - a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part focuses on defining this phenomenon from the perspective of both languages and in terms of formal, functional and translation points of view. It also briefly examines the linguistic aspects of Spanish specialized texts. The practical part is based on working with the latest version of the InterCorp parallel corpus, which is used to perform a translation analysis of the means of expression used for translating these constructions from Spanish into Czech.

Studying the dynamics of gene expression and the role of NAC complex in male gametophyte development

This Ph.D. thesis presents a comprehensive study of gene expression regulation within the male gametophyte development focusing on transcriptional, translational, and post- translational levels. The research introduces an online tool, GOLEM, designed for the visualization and analysis of motif distribution within the DNA of various plant species. Utilizing RNA-seq data, GOLEM enables the study of gene expression across different tissues and developmental stages, as well as a comparative analysis across the evolution of plant lineages. Through an integrated multi-omics approach, combining transcriptomic and proteomic data, the thesis enriches the understanding of gene expression dynamics in male gametophyte development, identifying significant trends and categorizing gene families based on their expression patterns. This multifaceted dataset provides a valuable resource for future functional genomics studies. Additionally, prospects and challenges of studying gene expression regulation in male gametophyte are discussed. Algebra of dual quaternions in image analysis

This work has two goals. Firstly it is to acquaint the reader with the classical use of quaternions and dual quaternions in geometry. Secondly the generalization of the Fourier transform into the set of dual quaternions. At first it goes into algebraic properties and structure of quaternions and ways of their inscriptions. Later dual numbers are introduced and consecutively with their help dual quaternions. Then the work deals with description of rotations and translations using quaternions and dual quaternions, that enable their easy description. Finally the discreet dual quaternion Fourier transform is defined, and for its effective calculation the algorithm is derived, which is then brought into effect as a code in program environment MATLAB.
