Musical activities and adaption of non-native speakers in primary education

This diploma thesis examines the integration of children whose native language is not Czech with the use of musical activities. It is a relevant tool which can help to achieve both educational and social success among non-native speakers. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the situation with foreign children in the Czech Republic, then it deals with the proper use of Czech terms regarding this topic. The diploma thesis describes musical activities as an effective tool for teaching a foreign language, which is in accordance with RVP ZV (Framework Education Programme). The practical part includes the inclusion of musical activities in special group of non-native speakers. The aim of the diploma is to create a functional, didactic and content-oriented tool for Music teachers at primary schools which is based on a book by Milena Kmentová, Třída zpívá ÍÁÍÁ: Hudební hry v rozvoji fonematického uvědomování (The Class Sings: E-I-E-I: Music Games For Developing Phonemic Awareness). This tool was verified during active research with foreign students at a public primary school in Prague. Difficulties in educating Ukrainian pupils in elementary school in the Czech republic

The diploma thesis, which is presented here, is called Obstacles in the Education of Ukrainian Pupils in the 1st level in the Czech Elementary Schools. This work has a special pedagogical character as students with a different mother tongue fall into the category of students with special educational needs. The thesis generally aims to analyze and define the current possibilities of education of Ukrainian refugee pupils as pupils with a different mother tongue in the 1st grade of primary school from the point of view of pedagogues of the given two regions - Prague region and the Moravian-Silesian region, including the Ukrainian pupil and his/her legal representative. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the legislative framework of migration and the possibilities of education for pupils with a different mother tongue, including Ukrainian pupils. Furthermore, it brings closer the concept of the educational subject of mathematics in the 1st level of elementary school and the acquisition of the mathematics curriculum by the non- traditional Hejné method. Involvement of Ukrainian pupils to primary school teaching

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of the involvement of Ukrainian pupils of the first level of primary school in the educational system of Czech schools. The thesis focuses mainly on pupils who come to Czech primary schools because of the Russian-Ukrainian war conflict. The aim of the thesis is to identify the situations and ways in which these pupils engage in education and then to analyze the factors that influence their engagement. The theoretical section introduces the reader to the basic theoretical background. The first chapters are devoted to defining key terms and current legislation related to the education of Ukrainian pupils. The following chapters describe the process that pupils from Ukraine go through when they are enrolled in education. The theoretical part of the thesis concludes with a chapter exploring the possibilities of supporting Ukrainian pupils arising from the relevant legislation. The practical part of the thesis is based on a multiple case study of four selected primary schools, which aims to describe the situations and ways in which pupils from Ukraine are involved in education in the selected schools. Communication skills of pupils with a different mother tongue in the primary school

The aim of the thesis "Language skills of pupils with different mother tongue in primary school" is to analyse the language skills of pupils of younger school age with different mother tongue. Together with the sub-linguistic skills, the present thesis focuses mainly on the pragmatic linguistic level, within which the use of language skills in a social context is evaluated. The theoretical part of the thesis consists of the first three chapters. The introduction defines the concepts of communication, language and speech, communicative competence and bilingualism. The second chapter is devoted to the specifics of adaptation and acquisition of Czech as a second language by pupils with a different mother tongue. The possibilities of language diagnostics are also presented in this chapter. Finally, the education of this group in the domestic school system is characterised together with selected organisations dedicated to supporting pupils with a different mother tongue. A research sample of six informants from two mainstream primary schools was selected for the practical part of the thesis. The preparedness of kindergarten teachers for the child with a different mother tongue

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to figure out how kindergarten teachers are prepared for working with children of a foreign mother tongue. The theoretical part deals with the explanation of who a child with a foreing mother tongue is and with other topics related. Further on, the theoretical part is devoted to the adaptation and inclusion of children who speak a foreign mother tongue into a kindergarten and their linguistic development. The practical part describes and evaluates the qualitative research. The method used was an interview. Kindergarten teachers in České Budějovice, who have had experience with children speaking a foreign mother tongue within the collective of a Czech kindergarten, were interviewed.

The bachelor thesis is focused on the inclusion of children with different native language in Czech kindergartens. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the adaptation process and the conditions for succesful inclusion in specific cases. The theoretical part is focused on defining terms such as conception of preschool child, preschool education, its goals, developmental characteristics of preschool child, speech development, the concept of children with different native language and bilingualism. The theoretical part also provides an insight into the legislative anchorage of education of children with different native langugage in preschool and inclusive education. The theoretical part describes adaptation and inclusion of the child with different native language in kindergarten, the adaptation plan and the cooperation with parents. It also considers support options for children with different native language to help them with learning the Czech language. Finally, the last part is focused on the role of the teacher and methodological recommendations. The practical part consists of case studies. The method of interview with parents of children with different native language, interview with kindergarten teachers, and the method of direct and participant observation is applied. The research uncovers the problems and examples of good practice that have emerged in specific cases.
