Research on effectivity of outreach in physics
Kolář, Karel ; Dolejší, Jiří (advisor) ; Kireš, Marián (referee) ; Kříž, Jan (referee)
The thesis introduces many examples of outreach activities, primarily from the Czech Republic and other European countries. Various possibilities of measure- ments of factors of their effectivity are discussed in the thesis. The used methods were: literature review, conceptual assessment tests - pre- and post-tests (CCI, PPCI), questionnaires (IMI), data analyses of participants of activities, semi-structured interviews (for validation of concept inventories), and the work also has a glimpse of ethnography because the author has organised outreach activities for ten years. The individual chapters of the work are dedicated to: the overview of outreach activities, research methods, translation of the Calculus Concept Inventory (CCI) into Czech, the first steps for developments of the Particle Physics Concept Inven- tory (PPCI), loyalty of participants of competitions, and description of various metrics which can be used for statistical evaluation of events. 1
The evolution of the informal education in the Czech Republic since 1989 up to the present days, and its situation today
Brzková, Martina ; Jíra, Otakar (advisor) ; Moree, Dana (referee)
The aim of this paper is to describe a topic which is difficult to define, i. e. the evolution of the informal education in the Czech Republic since 1989 up to the present days, and its present situation. Experiments for non-formal education of pupils of grammar schools
Kubelková, Natálie ; Šmejkal, Petr (advisor) ; Míka, Luděk (referee)
Extracurricular, more precisely informal, teaching is an important part of the overall educational process and complements formal teaching in school. Teaching is carried out in the free time of students and is an important factor in motivating students to further study. It offers a wide range of disciplines in which students can learn and further develop. The theoretical part of this work deals with extracurricular teaching in the Czech Republic. It is devoted to the functions of extracurricular education, places for its implementation, focuses on leisure teachers and part is also devoted to legislation. The work also deals with implementation of chemical experiments in non-formal education, an essential part of which is the safe handling of chemicals and legislation. In this regard, the work also focuses on the preparation of a morning experimental program for younger school age children for a day camp organized by the Faculty of Science, Charles University, as one of the possible variants of informal aktivity for children at primary school. The program is accompanied by materials that were created primarily for leisure teachers who can use them in their leisure time, but are also usable for teaching at school. The chosen experiments were designed so that the danger of the used chemicals was as...
Science Camps as the Possible Way to Increase Pupils' Knowledge, Skills and Interest in geological topics
Pražáková, Martina ; Pavlasová, Lenka (advisor) ; Švecová, Milada (referee) ; Fančovičová, Jana (referee)
This dissertation focuses on non-formal education. It describes science camps with a geological topics which are non-formal events that may be visited by children and youth during their initial education. The aim of this thesis is to describe concepts of science (geological) camps and learn about the specific knowledge, skills and interests of their participants in the field of geology. The thesis is introduced in four independent studies which describe a completed mixed research and a solution by the researched targets. Camp groups from five non-formal educational institutions in the Czech Republic were examined. The analysis of camp concepts took place with instructors (N=21) during ten camp sessions. Thereafter two alternative content of camps were established: a field laboratory concept and a concept with equally represented focus on the participants' activity. In this part of research the questionnaires with open-ended questions were used, which were directed at instructors' statements about scientific and educational activities of participants. A data collection for the analysis observing specific geological knowledge, skills and interests of participants always took place at the beginning and at the end of the nine or ten camp sessions. Questionnaires (N=143 knowledge, skills; N=138...
Further training of management and employees of public administration
Synková, Jitka ; Pavlov, Ivan (referee)
The aim of this thesis is a systematic treatise on the importance of the process and goals of professional training of employees in public administration with a focus on the specifics of training in computer and language. The first chapter of the latest scientific findings described in the general position of the aims and methods of education employees in all sectors. The second chapter deals with training in computer literacy and language skills as a cross-cutting areas of training required at all levels of administration not only in public now, but also in the private sector, especially in the tertiary sector service provision. Unplugged activities for development of computational thinking in the context of non-formal education
Lhoťanová, Anna ; Štípek, Jiří (advisor) ; Vaňková, Petra (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the development of computational and algorithmic thinking in a non-formal education setting, specifically in the conditions of a summer camp activity, which is one of the forms of non-formal education. The thesis verifies by the pedagogical experiment whether it is possible to develop the computational thinking of camp participants, when unplugged activities are included in the programme content. The theoretical part defines the concepts of computational and algorithmic thinking. It also includes property of unplugged methodology. The practical part evaluates the pedagogical field experiment for which 3 sets of unplugged activities and 2 sets of test tools were created. The experiment took place during two summer camp for children from 9 to 18 years old, who were divided into two age groups for testing purposes. In pursuance of the experiment it was found out that the conditions of summer camp activity allow the inclusion of unplugged activities, which represent a method enabling the development of the computational thinking of the camp participants. Though it emerged that these activities have a bearing only on the participants who are more active during these activities and who are more interested in them.
