The role of media in contemporary society in terms of political decision-making (based on the example of the elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in 2021)

The thesis asks the question what role contemporary media play in Czech society in political decision-making. Its purpose is to stimulate the reader to think about what influence the media can have on us. The theoretical part covers the types of media, their effects and mass communication, including political communication. Space is also devoted to political marketing. Subsequently, an analysis of media content is carried out, as the aim of the thesis is to find out whether media messages published in selected types of media in the period of one month before the elections could have influenced the voters' decision-making in the elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in October 2021. Emphasis is also placed on the role the media play in our political decision-making in general. This objective is achieved through a combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis of selected media content. Although the influence of other factors must not be neglected, it is important to remember that the media influence us both in everyday life and in political decision-making, as it is through the media that we receive a substantial amount of information. Public opinion and market research in the Czech Republic as kind of communication feedback

Bachelor's work deals with market research and public opinion in Czech Republic concentrating on mass media. It presents the research as a suitable feedback for application in mass communications and mass media. The first part of the work defines some basic terms concerning mass communications and media, the following part deals with a short history of investigations in Czech Republic and in the former Czechoslovakia. Next part explains the certain methodolologies and methods which are used in the research. Another part of the work presents the list of the main agencies acting in the sphere of market research and public opinion in Czech Republic. In conclusion of the work it is shown the ethics of investigations and intervention of state, law and norms into research. [Autor's abstract].
New media in media education on low secondary school

This diploma thesis deals with the problematics of new media in the field of media education in the second stage of basic education. In the first part of the thesis, history of social media is presented. Their influence and conduct in society have changed with their mass growth. The development of media production presents risks which need to be faced through complex education of society; development of media literacy, digital literacy, critical thinking, and reading is therefore crucial. The theoretical part of this thesis describes how the age group of lower secondary education students utilizes media. Moreover, the reader is introduced to risks which adolescents face online, and subsequently, means of preparing students for these risks are devised. The second part of the thesis consists of three projects dealing with media literacy and critical thinking advancement. Students are learning to critically asses media messages and they examine all factors which influence message production. Furthermore, the students work with visual image material in a similar way, and they reflect on their own media and digital technology usage.

The subject of this thesis is the media, its history and function, and some other specific associated terms (in particular, the concept of objectivity and the theory of agenda- setting). In my thesis, I will also address the relationship between the media and politics. The aim of the practical part of the thesis is to analyze the work of three Czech journals (Hospodářské noviny, Mladá fronta DNES, Právo), and two television newscasts (Televizní noviny on TV Nova and Události České televize), in each case focusing on the theme of the American presidential election within a defined period of time (7. 11. 2016 - 13. 11. 2016). The core of the analysis consists of observing the proportion of total space and time that was dedicated to the topic, and in this analysis, I will focus on objectivity, or on the occurrence of the tabloid features. The media image of the Czech public administration

In this thesis, I will deal with the research of the Czech media and their views on public administration. The main aim of this thesis is to find out, how the Czech media present public administration before the citizens of the Czech Republic. For this research, I will choose printed media and also broadcast media. The main research question is whether the Czech media present the Czech public administration rather negatively, positively or take a neutral attitude. For this examination, I will use the content analysis.
Medial models for the development of equal perception of minority groups at children

The diploma thesis is focused on medial models of the minority group's equal perception development by preschool aged children. The theoretical part discourses in the wider context of the socialisation process about aspects important in this relation. It turns to the topics of social learning, attitudes towards minorities, attitudes' formation, mass communication and its impact on preschool children. The empiric part focuses on analysis of the chosen both electronic and printed medial production assigned to Czech preschool children, including comparison between Czech and foreign production. Within the analysis the either presence or absence of such medial models is investigated, which might have an influence on Czech children's attitude forming towards minority groups. Consequently it is evaluated whether between identified models such models exist, which could have a potential for actuating recipient in the sense of equal perception development towards minority groups.
