Summer musical events and their impact on everyday life in the village Lesná

This bachelor thesis is focused on summer musical events (in Czech "parket") and membership of volunteer fire-fighters and their impact on everyday life in village Lesná. The expression "parket" can have more meanings according to the context. Firstly it is designation for summer dance events or concerts, secondly it is designation for the place in the village where these events take place. This paper is based on literature dealing with the influence of local culture and societies on village community which led author to identify several possible functions this events and volunteer fire-fighters membership may have within the structure. The reviewed version of Merton's functional analysis is used to define the functions. These functions are functions of integration and socialisation, functions connected to voluntary work and educational function, function of this events as a place of increased social control, function of revitalization and stabilisation, function of formation, transmission and preservation of traditions, entertainment and compensatory function, function or dysfunction of conflicts, gaining a higher social status and political power in village and economical function. PhDr. Ondřej Hubáček: Socio-cultural adaptation of local communities. Dissertation 2012. Abstract This dissertation deal with the socio-cultural adaptation of local communities to the external (exogenous) changes by means of internal (endogenous) changes of the elements of the local socio-cultural system. The dissertation builds on the long-term research on local culture conducted by the Department of Cultural Studies, Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague. It focuses on issues of socio-cultural potential of towns, which observes from two aspects. In terms of specifics of the towns, especially the differences between the particular components and forms of socio- cultural potential, and in terms of its reproduction, ie the process of changes in their components and forms. Methodologically, the dissertation is based on secondary analysis of data collected in the research and reinterpretation of findings and conclusions made out in past analyzes. Leading Figures and Local Culture in Czech Regions

Dissertation thesis Leading Figures and Local Culture in Czech Regions presents a comparative analysis of two original Czech regions, Chodsko and the Bohemian Forest, and their spiritual leaders, Jindřich Šimon Baar and Karel Klostermann. Main part of the thesis consists of analysis of life, work and contribution of these local icons in context of the geographical, historical and cultural aspects of regions concerned. Emphasis is placed on the specifics of local folk literature, folklore and material culture. The theoretical part is complemented by deep research in both regions, in the form of a questionnaire completed by hundred students, which answers questions regarding their involvement in folk life and experience of their regional identity. Local Culture Manifestations of the Vracov Town

The thesis reports a compact view of the culture and manifestations in the Vracov town in the South Moravia. The first part of the thesis focuses on geographic, demographic, ethnographic and historical conditions of forming the local cultural identity. The second part describes the tangible and intangible elements of the local culture, the cultural events as an application of these elements and important personalities, who helped to draw attention to the locality. This continues with a summary of the cultural institutions and associations that operate in the municipality, and significantly contributes to the cultural activities of the town, and brief information about the town budget and the financing of cultural activities. The thesis is completed with an analysis of the survey, which explores whether inhabitants of the town are content with the concept of culture and whether they agree with the folk town awareness of Vracov. There are some recommendations in the end of the thesis. The thesis includes pictures of the most important elements of Vracov´s culture.
Microbreweries as a cultural economic phenomenon

This bachelor´s thesis discusses the microbreweries in the Czech Republic from the perspective of economic and culture. The theoretical part presents the historical context of brewing, then the economic aspects and specifics of microbreweries. The practical part is specifically aimed at microbreweries in the region Podbrdsko, which are characterized and further analyzed with respect to the cultural importance within the locality. This work shows that microbreweries have potential in terms of municipality, especially in the field of tourism. For local residents is a microbrewery opportunity to develop local identity and awareness of the uniqueness of the place and the region.
The role and use of cultural houses in the environment of rural and small urban settlements

The topics of this thesis are cultural houses, a specific Czech phenomenon. These houses were constructed from the 60s until 80s in many urban and rural settlements, including very small ones. Current holders are facing a challenge of reasonable and financially sustainable maintenance of these objects. This paper tackles the present use and functioning of cultural houses as well as their cultural, social and economic potential. It covers both the historic background and current situation. The empirical part of this thesis consists of a study of socioeconomic features of several cultural houses in small urban and rural settlements that vary in their approach to everyday functioning and future strategies. The aim of this thesis is to assess critically the economic and sociocultural contribution of particular cultural houses to the development of respective villages and towns. Additional output of this work includes realistic proposals for effective use of the examined objects in the future.
Mikroregion Blaník and its development in the field of culture after 2000

This diploma thesis deals with characteristic and development of mikroregion Blaník that is situated on area of ten municipalities in district of Vlašim. Thesis focuses on definition of mikroregion and its legislative enshrinement. Then it summarizes the status of local culture and cultural heritage, and also describes options how to obtain subsidies. This part is followed by practical part which is based on specific information obtained from the annual reports and the management of mikroregion. Thesis is supplemented by interviews with mayors.
Local culture manifestations of the Terchová village

This bachelor's thesis reports compact view of the culture and its manifestations in the Terchová village in Slovakia. The first part of the thesis focuses on historical, geographic and ethnographic conditions of forming of the local cultural identity. The second part describes tangible and intangible elements of the local culture, the cultural activities as an application of these elements, and significant persons who drew attention to the locality. This is followed by a summary of the cultural institutions and associations operating in the village and brief informations about funding of the local cultural activities. The thesis is closed by an analysis of a survey exploring a contentment of the inhabitants of Terchová with the concept of the culture, topped with my remarks and suggestions to improve the identified insufficiencies. In attachments of the thesis there are photographs of the most important cultural elements to illustrate the character of the local culture.
Cultural potential of Myjava „kopanice“ region with bearing on the town of Myjava

The thesis targets the cultural potential of the town of Myjava and the interest of its inhabitants in other than traditional forms of the cultural expression. The theory aims to elucidate the issue of regional and local culture, describing individual elements of a local culture and the differences in its definitions. It continues with a brief description of the demographics, more detailed description of the history of the town from the foundation until the present and enumarates the elements of a local culture characteristic for the town of Myjava. The practical part of the thesis examines the current options for culture in the town, describes recurring contemporary events and formulates an hypothesis proposing the town neglects alternative forms of the culture. The hypothesis is attested by an inquiry among the views of the residents and possible solutions are proposed.
The concretization of local and regional culture on the example of the Pardubice region

The theoretical part focuses on the definitiv of specific terms, on the organization of culture and the analysis of tangible and intangible culture of Pardubice region. The practical part is dedicated to the regional cultural policy and its impact on the culture of the selected region. I also include the examples of using or not using the possibilities of cultural policy.
