Venezuela Foreign Policy Changes at the turn of the 20th and 21st century

This thesis deals with the Venezuela Foreign Policy Changes between the years 1999 -- 2012. The work provides the analyses of the political system of today's Venezuela and the Venezuelan foreign policy under the Hugo Chávez rule. As the thesis aims at studying the relationship between the domestic and foreign policy both aspects needed to be considered. Author tests the hypothesis that the foreign rhetoric and policy of Venezuela between the years 1999 -- 2012 were primarily focused on legitimizing Hugo Chavez's domestic position. Hugo Chavez's speeches in front of the National Assembly in the years 2000-2012 were analyzed using the text analysis tools. Quantification of the speeches key words was one of the instruments to test the above stated main hypothesis of the thesis. Chavez's foreign rhetoric and policy helped to fortify its power position especially with army and masses sensitive to populist approach even though the consequences for the Venezuelan economy were rather bad or unsustainable. Furthermore we can state that the foreign rhetoric and policy of the years 1999-2012 developed and radicalized in relation to the domestic economic and political situation.
The government of H. Chávez in its impact on Venezuela

This thesis focuses on the government of Hugo Chávez from 1998. First chapter is dedicated to the history from the first mention of Venezuela until 1998. Then I analyse the Bolivarian revolution, how it contributed to the welfare of the country. I analyse the situation after implementing social programs and the role of crude oil in the government. Then I analyse the participation of Venezuela in MERCOSUR and in ALBA, which is Chavez's initiative. The aim of this theses is also to analyse relations with USA, Colombia and Cuba and their mutual trade.

The subject of investigation are bilateral relations and mutual dependence of Venezuela and the United States. The main aim of the study is to compare the direction of foreign policy of Venezuela in relation to the USA for the period of the last two presidents. Period covers the entire duration of action of Hugo Chavez and the beginning of presidential term of Nicolas Maduro.
The importance of oil for Venezuela's economy

This thesis deals with the significant influence of oil wealth on the Venezuelan economy in view of recent past years, the present and the future perspective. The first chapter provides an overview of macroeconomic indicators and describes the Venezuelan regime - socialism of the 21st century. The second chapter analyzes the foreign trade policy of Venezuela in connection with trading in crude oil and oil revenues. Therefore, the third chapter is aimed at Dutch disease, perspectives of the Venezuelan economy and its rating.

The foreign policy of Venezuela after the onset of Hugo Chávez

The aim of this work is to characterize the differences of the foreign policy of Venezuela before and after the onset of Hugo Chavez. Methods applied for achievement of this aim were analysis and subsequent comparison. The main topics concern the political developments in Venezuela until 1998 and foreign policy conducted in this period, in the next chapter the political basis of Chávez's foreign policy are analyzed and in conclusion the itself Venezuela's foreign policy after 1998 is described. The analysis in this study showed that the emergence of Hugo Chavez caused a considerable turnover in the foreign policy of Venezuela, which has been reflected in many changes, especially in the US-Venezuelan relations, integration efforts in the Latin American region and the overall differences in ideological orientation of the country.

This Bachelor thesis deals in particular with the Mercosur integration, its history and progress which he went gone through the time. In the first chapter is Mercosur presented together with its Association Agreement, i.e. the agreement with states, with which is Mercosur trying to build functioning mutual relations. The most important part is presentation of a new member State - Venezuela - as a major factor, which strongly affects the inside affairs of Mercosur. In the second part is analysed trade between Mercosur and the selected countries, which is located on the continent of Latin America.
