Reconstruction of the town spa in Malé Svatoňovice
Macek, Štěpán ; Špiller, Martin (referee) ; Guzdek, Adam (advisor) ; Kalousek, Lubor (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis was to prepare a documentation for building permits and a part of the documentation for the building construction on the basis of an architectural study, developed in the „AG35 – Monuments Restoration Studio“ module. The topic of the studio work was to think about the appropriate use of a listed building in the historic center of the village of Malé Svatoňovice and to create an architectural study. I have proposed the following concept. The building should serve as a municipal house, so I have concentrated the corresponding functions here: the municipal office, the ceremonial hall, the museum, doctors labs, cosmetics, the pharmacy and finally the spa, which had a long tradition here. When restoring an object, I proceed synthetically. I examine the quality and preservation of individual layers. Then I highlight the best of each one. If some layer have not been preserved, but still have had its qualities, I remind it in a new language. I think it was Tadao Ando who said, "If the genius loci is to be legible, it must be revived and provoked by inventive inputs." I combine modern with historical using timelessness.

Movement from the Centre to the Peripheries: the Social Life of Prague Germans in the Peripheries during the First Republic
Tvrdá, Kristina ; Konrád, Ota (advisor) ; Nieć, Grzegorz (referee)
The master thesis examines the development of social and cultural life of Prague Germans in the 1920s and 1930s in selected Prague suburbs. Prague's German population formed a unique society in Czechoslovakia during the interwar period, which to a large extent shaped the overall multi-ethnic character of the city itself. Although the German-speaking population had to cope with their position as a national minority and nationalistic anti-German sentiments in the new state, their numbers grew, and their society developed. The main place of social life for Prague Germans remained the centre of Prague, but with the establishment of Greater Prague in 1922, there was an escalation of their migration from the interior to Prague, but also from the historic centre of Prague to the newly annexed districts. Thanks to the status of the capital city and the development of urban infrastructure during the 1920s and 1930s, Prague offered a new space of Prague suburbs, which the German population of Prague used for their cultural or economic development. Even though this was an area inhabited by only a small number of Prague Germans, they clearly contributed to the development of individual neighbourhoods. In some cases, these were only individual places associated with Prague Germans, such as theatres or...
Legislature related to legionnaires and war veterans between 1918 and 1922 - its illustration in parliamentary debates and printed media
Hainzová, Petra ; Štemberk, Jan (advisor) ; Minářová, Markéta (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to analyze post-war legislation related to legionnaires and injured war veterans as it was debated in parliament and reported on in standard media outlets. The analyzed period is from 1918 to 1922. The thesis will also strive to compare the legislatively preferred legions with regular soldiers of the Austro-Hungarian army. Research will be conducted using minutes from parliament's sessions and selected newspapers and magazines. The analysis will show that laws intended for the legions' benefit did not have a great impact in real life and were often not upheld according to parliament sessions and printed media. The difficult circumstances of the legionnaires who arrived back home later than regular troops, did not particularly interest the general population any longer, as the post-war situation was hard for everyone.
