Diplomová práce zkoumá vývoj společenského a kulturního života pražských Němců ve 20. a 30. letech 20. století na vybraných tehdejších pražských předměstích. Pražské německé obyvatelstvo tvořilo v Československu v meziválečné době jedinečnou společnost, která do značné míry formovala celkový multietnický charakter samotného města. Ačkoliv se německy mluvící obyvatelstvo muselo v novém státě vyrovnat s pozicí národnostní menšiny a nacionalistickými protiněmeckými náladami, docházelo k jejich početnímu růstu a k rozvoji jejich společnosti. Hlavním místem společenského života pražských Němců zůstávalo i nadále centrum Prahy, se vznikem Velké Prahy v roce 1922 však docházelo k eskalaci jejich migrace z vnitrozemí do Prahy, ale také z historického centra Prahy do nově připojených čtvrtí. Díky postavení hlavního města a rozvoji městské infrastruktury během 20. a 30. let nabízela Praha nový prostor pražských předměstí, která pražské německé obyvatelstvo využilo ke svému rozvoji v kulturní nebo hospodářské oblasti. I když se jedná o oblast Prahy, kterou obývala pouze malá část pražských Němců, jednoznačně přispěli k rozvoji jednotlivých čtvrtí. V některých případech se jednalo o jednotlivá místa spojená s pražskými Němci, jako divadla nebo strojírenské závody, v jiných se jednalo o celé bloky domů a ulice.... The master thesis examines the development of social and cultural life of Prague Germans in the 1920s and 1930s in selected Prague suburbs. Prague's German population formed a unique society in Czechoslovakia during the interwar period, which to a large extent shaped the overall multi-ethnic character of the city itself. Although the German-speaking population had to cope with their position as a national minority and nationalistic anti-German sentiments in the new state, their numbers grew, and their society developed. The main place of social life for Prague Germans remained the centre of Prague, but with the establishment of Greater Prague in 1922, there was an escalation of their migration from the interior to Prague, but also from the historic centre of Prague to the newly annexed districts. Thanks to the status of the capital city and the development of urban infrastructure during the 1920s and 1930s, Prague offered a new space of Prague suburbs, which the German population of Prague used for their cultural or economic development. Even though this was an area inhabited by only a small number of Prague Germans, they clearly contributed to the development of individual neighbourhoods.
