Communication skills of pupils with a different mother tongue in the primary school

The aim of the thesis "Language skills of pupils with different mother tongue in primary school" is to analyse the language skills of pupils of younger school age with different mother tongue. Together with the sub-linguistic skills, the present thesis focuses mainly on the pragmatic linguistic level, within which the use of language skills in a social context is evaluated. The theoretical part of the thesis consists of the first three chapters. The introduction defines the concepts of communication, language and speech, communicative competence and bilingualism. The second chapter is devoted to the specifics of adaptation and acquisition of Czech as a second language by pupils with a different mother tongue. The possibilities of language diagnostics are also presented in this chapter. Finally, the education of this group in the domestic school system is characterised together with selected organisations dedicated to supporting pupils with a different mother tongue. A research sample of six informants from two mainstream primary schools was selected for the practical part of the thesis. Specifics of teachers' approach to mother tongue of children with different mother tongue in the pre-school education

The bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of children with different mother tongues in kindergarten. The aim of the thesis is to find out how teachers approach the mother tongue of a child with a different mother tongue. The theoretical part introduces the reader to preschool education in the Czech Republic, the tools of inclusive education in kindergartens and the specifics of educating a child with a different mother tongue. The practical part maps, through mixed research, the approach of teachers to the mother tongue of a child with a different mother tongue, the level of its use in preschool education and its development in the child's home environment. Furthermore, it researches methods of communication between teachers and the child's parents and the child's communication in the kindergarten environment, support of the child's communication with peers, possibilities of Czech language development in children in kindergarten and the level of use of support measures.
Music as a Significant Means for Speech Cultivation in Pre-School Children

This dissertation of an interdisciplinary character involves music education, music psychology, linguistics and special education. In the theoretical part of the thesis the author explains the term timbre from the musicological and linguistic perspective; characterizes timbre hearing as a musical hearing ability; introduces and compares timbre and phonemic hearing tests; describes the development of musicality and speech of pre-school children from an ontogenetic perspective, and emphasizes hearing atten- tion as a prerequisite for their advancement. The author also characterizes disruption of these abilities and describes reeducation therapies that involve elements of music education and mu- sic therapy. A field study described in the practical part of the thesis has a form of fundamental research and experiment. Research participants were 180 pre-school children. A field study is addressing the relationship between speech and musical manifestations of pre-school children with atypi- cal speech development. The aim of the experiment was to search for the most effective com- bination of music and language education with positive influence on both musicality and speech. Education of pupils with hearing impairment and different mother tongue

The thesis deals with the topic of education of pupils with hearing impairment and a different mother tongue. The first part of the thesis contains basic theoretical background. It describes the issue of hearing impairment, the comprehensive rehabilitation of people with hearing impairment including its individual components, schools educating pupils with hearing impairment and the individual communication approaches used in the education of these pupils. The possibilities of educating and supporting pupils with a different mother tongue and pupils who have a different mother tongue and a hearing impairment are outlined. The theoretical part focuses on the support that is provided to the families of such pupils and to the educational staff working in this area. The practical part aims to describe and analyse the education and other support that is provided to pupils with a hearing impairment and a different mother tongue educated in a primary school for pupils with a hearing impairment. Perception of cultural differences in children with different mother tongue and children from bilingual environment

Thesis Perception of cultural differences in children with different mother tongue and children from bilingual environment is a case study at a specific primary school. The theoretical part deals with methodology of education of pupils with different mother tongue than Czech and the methodology of education of pupils living in a bilingual environment. Furthermore, the cultural differences, the identification of cultural clashes is explained here. The thesis also deals with the issue of national minorities in the Czech Republic, stereotypes and labelling. Language skills development of pupils from language disadvantaged background realised in primary science education

Diploma thesis - Cyril Štěpán Abstract In the theoretical part of my thesis, I first aim to outline the particular language problems of children brought up in a socially disadvantaged background. I attempt to describe what actually is "social disadvantage" and what are its specifics. Moreover, I deal with the particularity of development of children in such background and with the imapact on communication skills of these children when they enter nursery or elementary school. In the second chapter of my thesis, I write about langugage and communication barriers of children with different mother tongue. I describe and explain the term "different mother tongue". Then I pursue the statistics on pupils foreigners in czech schools and their categorisation to discover the most represented foreign languages in czech schools. I furthermore describe these languages (Slavic language group and Vietnamese) and I point out those linguistic differences of these languages when compared to the czech language that are the most crucial ones in the process of learning czech. In the last chapter of the theoretical part of my thesis, I write about school inclusion of these pupils.
